Samford Village, Queensland

Samford is a town in the City of Moreton Bay, South East Queensland, Australia. It consists of two localities, Samford Village and Samford Valley.

Samford Valley is a rural locality in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. It is one of two localities in the town of Samford, the other being Samford Village. In the 2016 census, Samford Valley had a population of 3,068 people.

The Selector's Hut is a heritage-listed hut at 20 Upper Camp Mountain Road, Camp Mountain, City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. It is also known as Marks' Hut. It was built c. 1870 by George Atthow. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 3 December 2007.

Camp Mountain railway station is a railway station in Camp Mountain, Queensland, Australia. The station opened in 1918 as part of the extension to Samford.

The Camp Mountain rail accident occurred at approximately 9:48 am on 5 May 1947 when a crowded picnic train derailed on a sharp left-hand curve between Ferny Grove and Camp Mountain stations on the now-closed Dayboro railway line, approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) northwest of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. The Camp Mountain train disaster is still the largest loss of life in a rail accident on the Queensland railway network with 16 fatalities, including both the driver and fireman of the train; 38 were injured.

Ferny Grove is one of the 89 electoral districts for the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Australia. Located in northwest Brisbane, it is named for the suburb of Ferny Grove. It was first created in 1992, and was represented by Labor from its creation until the 2012 election, in which the LNP won with a 59.5 percent two-party vote.The election is notable for having decided the 2015 state election. Labor won the seat back on a swing of 10 percent, just barely what it needed to take the seat off the LNP. However, the Palmer United Party candidate for Ferny Grove, Mark Taverner, was revealed to be an undischarged bankrupt and therefore ineligible to run. The revelation spurred speculation that a by-election would be needed to resolve the seat. However, ABC election analyst Antony Green believed that the Ferny Grove outcome and potential by-election will not affect who forms government. The Ferny Grove tally later indicated that the Palmer candidate did not have an effect on the outcome of the election, dampening chances of the Court of Disputed Returns ordering a by-election. The Electoral Commission of Queensland initially indicated it would refer the situation to the Court of Disputed Returns. However, on 13 February, when it declared the results of all outstanding seats, the commission said it would not refer the Ferny Grove result to the court. This made Ferny Grove the 44th seat won by Labor, formally clearing the way for Labor leader Annastacia Palaszczuk to form a minority government.

Wights Mountain is a rural locality in the City of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, Wights Mountain had a population of 793 people.

Ashgrove was a Legislative Assembly of Queensland electoral district in the state of Queensland, Australia from 1960 to 2017.It was located in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, encompassing Alderley, Ashgrove, Enoggera, The Gap and Newmarket. The electorate also contained the Enoggera Army Barracks and the Enoggera Reservoir, a state forest. In the 2012 state election LNP leader Campbell Newman won the seat, and following his party's success in that election became Premier. In the 2015 election, Kate Jones, who had held the seat for Labor from 2006 to 2012, reclaimed the seat. In losing his seat and the Premiership, Newman became just the second Premier in Queensland history to be defeated in his electorate. Ashgrove was abolished in the 2017 electoral redistribution, mostly being replaced by Cooper.
