The Third Street Railroad Trestle is a historic wooden railroad trestle bridge crossing Shoal Creek in downtown Austin, Texas. Built around 1922 by the International–Great Northern Railroad, it replaced an earlier bridge in the same place. The bridge was used by the I–GN Railroad, the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad until 1964, when commercial rail traffic stopped; after 1991 the bridge was abandoned. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021.

The Austin United States Courthouse is a federal courthouse in downtown Austin, Texas. Built between 2009 and 2012, the building houses the Austin division of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and other federal judicial offices. It replaced the 1936 Austin U.S. Courthouse, which has since been transferred to Travis County to hold county judicial space.

Gowalla was a location-based social networking service. It launched in 2007 and closed in 2012. Users were able to check in at "Spots" in their local vicinity, either through a dedicated mobile application or through the mobile website. Checking-in would sometimes produce virtual "items" for the user, some of which were developed to be promotional tools for the game's partners. As of November 2010 there were approximately 600,000 users. In January 2021 Gowalla made an announcement that the app is coming back in 2022 At the start of December 2009 it was reported that Gowalla had raised $8.4 million in a round of venture capital funding led by Greylock Partners and angel investors Chris Sacca, Kevin Rose and Jason Calacanis. It was acquired by Facebook on December 2, 2011, for an undisclosed sum Gowalla, Inc. was based in Downtown Austin, Texas. On March 10, 2012, Gowalla announced it would cease operation and users would be able to download their checkins, photos and lists soon. However, this seems to have fallen through, as the site was made unavailable before these histories could be downloaded.

Liberty Lunch was a live-music venue at 405 W. 2nd Street in Austin, Texas that operated until 1999. It was rumored to have been called Liberty Lunch in the 1940s as an eatery, perhaps reflecting the World War II Liberty Bonds and patriotic sentiment. Liberty Lunch has become notable in the history of Austin music, along with the Armadillo World Headquarters.

The Independent is a completed residential skyscraper in Austin, Texas. At a height of 690 ft (210 m), it is the tallest building in the city, surpassing the 683 ft (208 m) tall Austonian, another residential skyscraper. The building was proposed in 2014, construction began in 2016, and was completed in spring 2019. It contains 58 floors, 370 condos, and it has been nicknamed the "Jenga Tower", and the "Tetris Tower". The 9th floor contains amenities such as a heated pool, club room, playground, and dog park, while the 34th floor contains a fitness center, yoga deck, and an outdoor lounge.The design of the tower's crown has been criticized, to the extent of a protest group named Fix The Crown being created in March 2019.

The Northshore is a mixed-use building in Austin, Texas that includes 150 residential units and 40,000 square feet of retail and office space. Co-Working company Galvanize occupies the office space in the building. As of 2019, the tower stands as the 9th tallest building in Austin, Texas. The building is the tallest apartment building in the city. The Northshore is part of the redevelopment of the former Green Water Treatment Plant site in downtown Austin.The tower was originally planned to have a twin on neighboring Block 185, but the plan was reduced in scope to the single tower on Block 1 in 2014. Block 185 began construction in 2019, as a different design.

Republic Square is an urban park in central Austin, Texas. Located in Downtown Austin, the park features a grassy area meant for festivals and events as well as shaded areas under live oak trees. The SFC Farmers' Market meets at the square every Saturday morning.

Fifth & West Residences is a 39-story residential skyscraper located at 501 West Ave. in Downtown Austin, Texas. The tower is the seventh tallest in Austin at 459 feet (140 m). Fifth & West is the fourth tallest all-residential tower in Austin, behind The Independent, The Austonian and 360 Condominiums. The building is located along a Capitol View Corridor, creating a unique triangular tower atop a square podium base. The tower is located in the Shoal Creek floodplain.

The J.P. Schneider Store is a historic commerce building in downtown Austin, Texas built in 1873. Built along Second Street, the structure is the only remaining historic building in the immediate vicinity and is today surrounded by Austin City Hall and the headquarters of Silicon Labs. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. As of December 2006, Lamberts Downtown Barbeque is housed in the space.

W Austin Hotel and Residences is a 37-story hotel and residential skyscraper in the Block 21 mixed-use development in Downtown Austin, Texas, adjacent to the Second Street district. It opened in December 2010. Standing at 478 feet above the ground and 37 stories, it is the sixth tallest building in Austin. It is a residential building that sits behind the Austin City Hall. It holds 251 hotel units, managed by W Hotels and 159 condominiums. Magic Johnson's investment company Canyon Johnson Urban Fund II is the primary investor and he also attended the opening ceremony.The hotel's neighbor in Block 21 is ACL Live at The Moody Theater, where Austin City Limits is recorded.

Shoal Creek is a stream and an urban watershed in Austin, Texas, United States. Shoal Creek has its headwaters near The Domain and runs in a southerly direction, soon reaching the intersection of Texas State Highway Loop 1, locally known as "MoPac Expressway" or simply "MoPac," and Highway 183. It continues south, partly along Shoal Creek Boulevard and Lamar Boulevard, through the western part of downtown Austin to its end at Lady Bird Lake. Shoal Creek is the largest of Austin’s north urban watersheds, encompassing approximately 8,000 acres (12.9 square miles). About 27% of the watershed is over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. Its length is approximately 11 miles. It runs parallel to and between Waller Creek to its east and Johnson Creek to its west. The creek is notable for its links to the history of Texas and Austin, its floods, and its scenery and parks just a few minutes from the Texas Capitol.

Sixth and Guadalupe is an under construction 66-story mixed-use skyscraper in Downtown Austin, Texas. On November 2, 2022, the building celebrated its topping out, making it the tallest building in Austin, surpassing The Independent. The tower is expected to be completed and delivered in 2023.
