Urbana High School (Illinois)

Lincoln the Lawyer, also known as The Young Circuit Lawyer, Young Lincoln or simply Abraham Lincoln, is a Lorado Taft sculpture now located on the 1000 block of Race Street, Urbana, Illinois, across from Urbana High School in Carle Park. The statue was dedicated by Taft on July 3, 1927. It was moved to the eastern entrance of Carle Park on December 4, 1927, when it was first placed on a pedestal facing due east. Taft requested a slightly different placement, facing southeast, and the statue was moved about 20 feet north to the present site in December 1955. It was restored in 2003, and added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 10, 2004.Lincoln had ridden as a circuit lawyer on the 8th Judicial Circuit through Urbana from 1837 to 1848. The statue was paid for by a bequest of Mrs. J.O. Cunningham who, with her husband, had been friends of Lincoln since his time as a circuit lawyer. The bequest of $10,000 was funded by the sale of her house on nearby Green Street. This amount was less than half of Taft's usual commission for work in bronze, but he may have accepted the commission because of his close ties to the community. He had been raised in nearby Champaign.

The Downtown Urbana Historic District is a commercial historic district encompassing seven city blocks in downtown Urbana, Illinois. The buildings in the district reflects downtown Urbana's development as the county seat of Champaign County and a regional commercial center. While Urbana was founded in the 1830s and began its development in the ensuing decades, the oldest buildings in the district are from the 1870s. The city expanded considerably in the late nineteenth and early to mid twentieth centuries, and most of the district's buildings were constructed during this period. Local architect Joseph Royer designed many of the district's most prominent buildings, including the 1901 Romanesque Revival Champaign County Courthouse.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 27, 2019.

Cunningham Township is a township in Champaign County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 38,336 and it contained 18,321 housing units. Cunningham Township is coterminous with the City of Urbana. It is one of two coterminous townships in Champaign County and one of seventeen coterminous townships statewide.

The Phi Mu Sorority House is a historic sorority house at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in Urbana, Illinois. The sorority house was built in 1928 for the university's Delta Beta chapter of the Phi Mu sorority, which formed in 1921; the sorority itself was founded in 1852 and is one of the oldest sororities in the United States. At the time, the university had one of the largest Greek letter society movements in the country. The sorority's house has a Spanish Eclectic design with an arcaded porch and large patio, a campanile on one corner, and a colored tile roof. Phi Mu used the house until moving to a new building after World War II; the building has since been used by other Greek and student life groups.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 21, 1990.

The Urbana-Lincoln Hotel – Lincoln Square Mall is a historic building complex located at 300 South Broadway Avenue in Urbana, Illinois. The Tudor Revival style hotel was built in 1923. In 1964, the mall was built as an extension of the hotel; it was one of the first fully enclosed shopping malls in Illinois. The hotel, the mall, and the building complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. As of October 2017, the mall was still in operation, however the hotel was closed.

Community of Urbana-Champaign Cooperative Housing, or COUCH, is an association of student housing cooperatives in Urbana and Champaign, Illinois. It is a member of North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO). COUCH began in 1997 as an umbrella organization for the independent housing co-ops in the Champaign–Urbana area, but was also founded with the vision of creating a larger co-op community to advance co-oping, establish community, and achieve economies of scale within the co-op community. It currently consists of four houses: Gwendolyn Brooks Cooperative (Urbana), a 14-member house, opened its doors as a member-controlled co-op house in August 2001. Harvest House Cooperative (Urbana), another 14-member house, was also founded in 2001. Greenhouse (Urbana), a 9-member co-op, sprang from the ashes of the five-person Phoenix cooperative (2001-2010) in 2010, which had in turn sprung from the ashes of the previous Green House cooperative (1985-2001) in 2001. La Casa Grande Colectiva (Urbana), founded around 1970, houses seven members and is the oldest independent co-op in Champaign–Urbana.These housing co ops provide affordable housing to students and young people. Each room is rented out separately, and each room is priced according to its size. On top of rent, each tenant pays a separate bill for utilities and food. Although rules change from house to house, it is customary that every night, one or two people cook for the house and in return, they are cooked for the other 6 nights of the week. Some houses are vegan or vegetarian, while other houses serve meat. Many commodities are included for free including free access to a washer and dryer and free printing. Many houses allow pets.

WRFU-LP (104.5 FM, "Radio Free Urbana") is a radio station broadcasting a variety music format. Licensed to Urbana, Illinois, United States, the station serves the Champaign area. The station is currently owned by the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center Foundation.

The Alpha Xi Delta Sorority Chapter House is a historic sorority house located at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in Urbana, Illinois. Built in 1915 as a private home, the house was purchased by the Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority in 1928. The chapter was formed in 1905 and rented houses until purchasing the house, which was near a developing sorority row east of the university campus. Architech Joseph W. Royer designed the house in the Tudor Revival style. The house's design features vertical half-timbering on the upper stories, decorative brickwork on the first floor, two steep cross gables and multiple dormers projecting from the roof, and multiple brick chimneys.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 28, 1989.

The American Football House is a house in Urbana, Illinois, United States, famed for its appearance on the cover of Midwest emo band American Football's 1999 self-titled debut album. The house's interior was also featured on the cover of the band's 2016 self-titled second album. The house has since become "one of music's biggest landmarks", attracting tourism especially in the emo community.

The Nathan C. Ricker House is a historic house located at 612 West Green Street in Urbana, Illinois. Architect Nathan Clifford Ricker designed the house for himself in 1892; he lived there until his death in 1924. Ricker was a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and he established the university's architecture program; he also designed several of the school's buildings. His house, a two-story Queen Anne structure, was his only residential design. The house has an asymmetrical plan with a multi-component roof, projecting bays, and a front porch along the entire west side. Wood shingles decorate the house's exterior, and decorative posts, railings, and a frieze adorn the porch.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 21, 2000.

Elm Street Court is a bungalow court located on Elm Street in Urbana, Champaign County, Illinois. The court, built in 1926, consists of eight Spanish Colonial Revival style bungalows arranged around a central courtyard. While the houses have similar styles and floor plans, they also all have key differences, such as the shape of their parapet walls and the color and style of their stucco exteriors. A 10-foot (3.0 m) tall concrete gate with Craftsman details marks the entrance to the courtyard, and a concrete birdbath sits in the center of the garden courtyard. The bungalow court was a popular housing style in California and Florida during the 1920s, but the Elm Street Court is one of the few examples of the style in the Midwest.The court was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 15, 2000.

The Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity House is a historic fraternity house located at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in Urbana, Illinois. The house was built in 1927-28 for the Sigma chapter of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, which was established in 1917 and chartered the following year. By the 1930s, the chapter was known for its academic success, and six of its members had been invited to Phi Beta Kappa; its members were also active in campus groups and university athletics. Architect George Ramey designed the sorority's house in the French Eclectic style, which became popular in the United States after World War I. Significant elements of the design include its gray brick exterior, its steep slate hipped roof, its central staircase tower with a conical roof, and its stone quoins.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 5, 2009.
