RAF Blyton

Blyton railway station is a former railway station in Blyton, Lincolnshire. It was on the (still open) line between Gainsborough and Grimsby.

Aisby is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as "Aseby", in the Corringham Hundred of West Riding of Lindsey. It comprised 8 households, with 1 smallholder and 7 freemen. In 1066 Earl Edwin was Lord of the Manor; by 1086 this had been transferred to King William, who also became Tenant-in-chief.Old Hall, a Grade II listed building in Aisby, originates from the 14th century, with 17th-century alterations, and substantial alterations and additions in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Corringham is a civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 5 km (3 mi) east of Gainsborough and 16 km (10 mi) south of Scunthorpe. Corringham comprises the two contiguous villages of Great Corringham and Little Corringham and at the 2011 census had a recorded population of 523.The hamlet of Yawthorpe lies due east of the village, and that of Bonsdale to the north. Gowin Knight, the first principal librarian of the British Museum was born here in 1713.

Northorpe is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, about 8 miles (13 km) north-east from the town of Gainsborough. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 126.Today the parish includes the deserted medieval village and former civil parish of Southorpe, whose population declined during the 15th century, and the church, dedicated to Saint Martin, which was pulled down in the early 16th century. Southorpe existed as a separate civil parish from 1858 to 1932, when it was abolished to enlarge that of Northorpe. The site of Southorpe is a scheduled monument.It is possible both villages existed at the time of Domesday Book of 1086, as the village of "Torp" is listed five times, and includes a total population of 40 households.The parish church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and is a Grade I listed building built of limestone and dating from the 12th century with later additions and a restoration of 1905. There are several 17th-century monuments in the church to the Monson family. At one time the churchyard was said to be haunted by an example of the Black Dog apparition, by the name of the Bargest.Northorpe village hall is a Grade II listed former National school with datestone of 1846. It opened as a school in 1848 and closed in 1932 as Northorpe CE School.Northorpe railway station opened in 1848 and closed in 1964.Northorpe has two Halls: the timber-framed Northorpe Old Hall is a Grade II listed ruin dating from the 16th century, and Northorpe Hall is a Grade II listed limestone and yellow brick built house dating from 1872.

Scotton is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 7 mi (11 km) south from Scunthorpe, 14 mi (23 km) north-west from Market Rasen, and 1 mi (1.6 km) south from the larger village of Scotter. The western boundary of the parish is formed by part of the A159 Gainsborough to Scunthorpe road. In 1086, Scotton was mentioned in the Domesday Book as a settlement in the Hundred of Corringham within the county of Lincolnshire. At that time, its population comprised 71 households which made it in the top fifth of recorded settlements by population size. The Murder of William de Cantilupe of Scotton in March 1375 became a cause célèbre owing to his links to the crown and the unusual circumstances of his death. The 2001 Census recorded a population of 531 for the civil parish, increasing to 642 at the 2011 census.The ecclesiastical parish is in the Church of England Diocese of Lincoln, Archdeaconry of Stow and Manlake Deanery. The church is dedicated to St Genewys. Historically, the parish was in the wapentake of Corringham, and following the Poor Law reforms of the early 19th century was placed in the Gainsborough Poor Law Union.

The West Riding of Lindsey was a division of the Lindsey part of Lincolnshire in England, along with the North and South ridings. It consisted of the north-western part of the county, and included the Isle of Axholme and the Aslacoe, Corringham, Manley, Lawress, and Well wapentakes. The administrative centre of the riding was Kirton-in-Lindsey, and the meeting place of the riding was Spital-in-the-Street. It is the most populous of the ridings, and covered 461 square miles (1,190 km2). At the time of the Domesday Book, the riding also contained Lincoln, although in 1409 the city left to become a county corporate. Other important towns included Gainsborough. It ceased to exist when the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire and the county of Humberside were formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972.

Scotter is a large village and civil parish in West Lindsey, Lincolnshire, England, situated between Scunthorpe and Gainsborough.The population of the parish was recorded as 2,591 in the 2001 census, increasing to 3,065 at the 2011 census.The parish church is dedicated to St Peter. It is in the Scotter with East Ferry ecclesiastical parish in the Scotton and Scotter Group of parishes, in the Manlake Deanery. Other churches in the group are Scotton and Northorpe. On the other side of Trent is the Deanery of Axholme. The village has several shops, a village hall, a community centre, and a primary school. The school has approximately 280 pupils of age range 4–11. The village hall was opened on 12 July 1985 by Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester.

Springthorpe is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 138. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) east from the town of Gainsborough. Springthorpe is listed in Domesday Book as "Springetorp", consisting of 21 households and a church.The limestone parish church, which is dedicated to Saint Lawrence and Saint George, is a Grade I listed building dating from the 11th century, and restored in 1865. The font is 13th-century.The deserted medieval village of "Sturgate" or "Stourgate" was in the parish, and was documented from the end of the 12th century.

Northorpe railway station was a railway station in Northorpe, Lincolnshire, England. It opened on 2 April 1849 and closed for passengers on 4 July 1955 and freight on 2 March 1964. Originally named Northorpe, it became Northorpe (Lincs) at some point after January 1948. Although the station is now closed, the signal box here remains in use to supervise a level crossing and passing loop on the single track section of the route between Gainsborough Central and Kirton Lindsey.
