Blyton railway station is a former railway station in Blyton, Lincolnshire. It was on the (still open) line between Gainsborough and Grimsby.

It was built in 1942 and was heavily used during the Second World War but it was used little after the early stages of the Cold War.

Aisby is a hamlet in the civil parish of Corringham, in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated just over 1 mile (1.6 km) north from the A631 road and Corringham, 4 miles (6 km) north-east from Gainsborough, and 5 miles (8 km) south-east from Kirton in Lindsey. Aisby is listed in the 1086 Domesday Book as "Aseby", in the Corringham Hundred of West Riding of Lindsey. It comprised 8 households, with 1 smallholder and 7 freemen. In 1066 Earl Edwin was Lord of the Manor; by 1086 this had been transferred to King William, who also became Tenant-in-chief.Old Hall, a Grade II listed building in Aisby, originates from the 14th century, with 17th-century alterations, and substantial alterations and additions in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Corringham is a civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated 5 km (3 mi) east of Gainsborough and 16 km (10 mi) south of Scunthorpe. Corringham comprises the two contiguous villages of Great Corringham and Little Corringham and at the 2011 census had a recorded population of 523.The hamlet of Yawthorpe lies due east of the village, and that of Bonsdale to the north. Gowin Knight, the first principal librarian of the British Museum was born here in 1713.

Gainsborough was rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey from 1894 to 1974. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Gainsborough rural sanitary district which was in Lindsey (the Nottinghamshire part becoming the Misterton Rural District). It was reduced in 1936 under a County Review Order by ceding the parishes of Haxey, Owston Ferry and West Butterwick, all part of the Isle of Axholme, to the Isle of Axholme Rural District. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and incorporated into the new district of West Lindsey.

The West Riding of Lindsey was a division of the Lindsey part of Lincolnshire in England, along with the North and South ridings. It consisted of the north-western part of the county, and included the Isle of Axholme and the Aslacoe, Corringham, Manley, Lawress, and Well wapentakes. The administrative centre of the riding was Kirton-in-Lindsey, and the meeting place of the riding was Spital-in-the-Street. It is the most populous of the ridings, and covered 461 square miles (1,190 km2). At the time of the Domesday Book, the riding also contained Lincoln, although in 1409 the city left to become a county corporate. Other important towns included Gainsborough. It ceased to exist when the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire and the county of Humberside were formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972.

Thonock is a small settlement in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) north from the town of Gainsborough, and on the A159 road The population is included in the civil parish of Blyton. Thonock existed as a small village at the time of Domesday Book of 1086, when it consisted of five households.Thonock is listed as a deserted medieval village, but there are no visible earthworks. It existed as a part of Gainsborough in the early 14th century, and as a small settlement, including the hamlet of Havercroft, in later centuries, when High and Low (Nether) Thonock were mentioned. Havercroft lost settlement is located at OS Grid Reference SK 82799 93194 in the present parish of Morton. There are no earthworks however aerial photography clearly shows the boundaries of the village bisected by the Gainsborough to Grimsby railway line. Thonock civil parish was created from part of Gainsborough parish in 1894, but was later dissolved in 1974.A golf club is based at Thonock Park.

The Gainsborough Academy is a secondary school with academy status located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England. The academy has specialisms in technology and performing arts. It opened as Trent Valley Academy on 1 September 2008. It is a mainstream (11-16) school created by the merger of two existing secondary schools, Castle Hills and Middlefield School. The two predecessor sites are now closed, and a new purpose-built facility has been built on Corringham Road, Gainsborough. The construction project has produced a four-storey, 15,000-square-metre building on a 12-hectare site. This was the first new school built in Lincolnshire in over 40 years, and budgeted at £23 million, with a final cost of around £40 million.It was established by the lead sponsor E-ACT (EduTrust Academies Charitable Trust) in partnership with the local community Gainsborough Educational Village Trust. It was officially opened in June 2010 by the Duke of Gloucester. In 2014 it was announced that following serious concerns being raised by Ofsted inspectors about its performance, the school would be put under a new sponsor. On 1 June 2014, the Academy became the Gainsborough Academy, under the sponsorship of the main local provider of further education, Lincoln College, and became part of the Lincoln College Group. Having received an 'inadequate' grade from Ofsted and being put in special measures in December 2016, Gainsborough Academy changed sponsor again and moved to Wickersley Partnership Trust, its third sponsor in less than a decade, on 1 June 2018.

Springthorpe is a village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 138. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) east from the town of Gainsborough. Springthorpe is listed in Domesday Book as "Springetorp", consisting of 21 households and a church.The limestone parish church, which is dedicated to Saint Lawrence and Saint George, is a Grade I listed building dating from the 11th century, and restored in 1865. The font is 13th-century.The deserted medieval village of "Sturgate" or "Stourgate" was in the parish, and was documented from the end of the 12th century.
