The Pengra Bridge is a covered bridge near Jasper in the U.S. state of Oregon. The 120-foot (37 m) Howe truss structure carries Place Road over Fall Creek in Lane County. It replaced an earlier bridge, built in 1904, that crossed the creek a few feet further upstream.Pengra Bridge was named in honor of Byron J. Pengra, a government surveyor. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.The lower chords of the bridge, at 16 by 18 inches (41 by 46 cm) by 126 feet (38 m), are among the longest timbers ever used in an Oregon bridge. Timbers of this size simplified some aspects of construction but required special techniques to finish and position at the site. Other features of the bridge include ribbon windows under the eaves, a side window on one side, and semi-elliptical arched portals.Weather and traffic weakened the bridge over time, and it was temporarily closed in 1979. With the help of state funding from the Oregon Covered Bridge Program, the county repaired the structure, which was re-opened to traffic in 1995.

Lost Creek is a tributary of the Middle Fork Willamette River in the U.S. state of Oregon. It begins in the Cascade Range foothills between Dorena Lake and Lookout Point Lake and flows generally north to meet the river downstream of Lowell. Along the way, it passes by the rural community of Dexter, then under Oregon Route 58, and through part of Elijah Bristow State Park. Named tributaries of Lost Creek from source to mouth are Guiley, Gossage, Carr, Middle, Anthony, and Wagner creeks.

Dexter Reservoir (also known as Dexter Lake) is a reservoir in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is about 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Eugene on the Middle Fork Willamette River, immediately downriver from Lookout Point Lake, another reservoir. The communities of Dexter and Lowell are near the lake. Oregon Route 58 follows the lake's southern shore, while Pengra Road parallels the lake's northern shore as far east as Lowell.Dexter Dam, 117 feet (36 m) high, impounds up to 29,900 acre-feet (36,900,000 m3) of water in the reservoir. The powerhouse at the dam can generate 15,000 kilowatts of electricity. The lake and three adjacent state parks are used for water sports and other outdoor recreation.

Elijah Bristow State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It has more than 10 miles (16 km) of well-maintained trails along ponds, wetlands, meadows, and the Middle Fork Willamette River, and through forests of broadleaf and evergreen trees. The trails are open to horses, hikers, and mountain bikers, and there is a separate equestrian staging area popular with riding clubs.The 847-acre (343 ha) park was named for Elijah Bristow, one of the first pioneer settlers in Lane County. Located directly downstream of Dexter Reservoir, the site was originally called Dexter State Park. It was renamed in 1979 to honor Bristow, who founded the nearby community of Pleasant Hill in the mid-19th century.The park's trail system includes part of a trail linking Alton Baker Park in Eugene to the Pacific Crest Trail near Oakridge. Named trails in the park include Equestrian, River, Lost Creek, Pond Loop, and Fishermen's, which interconnect "like a tangle of intersecting puzzle pieces".Wildlife in the park includes salmon and steelhead, osprey, great blue herons, bald eagles and beaver. Among the thousands of species in the park are the threatened Western pond turtle and the Oregon chub.Activities, in addition to hiking, horse riding, biking, and fishing, include wildlife watching, picnicking, and boating. A wildlife viewing platform overlooks the pond complex in the park.

Dexter is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is located near Dexter Reservoir, a.k.a. Dexter Lake, a reservoir of the Middle Fork Willamette River along Oregon Route 58. A post office was established in the locality in 1872 and named "Butte Disappointment", after a local landmark named in 1848. The post office was renamed "Dexter" in 1875, apparently after the "Dexter" brand cook stove owned by the postmaster's family.Access to Dexter Lake, a popular fishing and boating site, is available at Dexter State Recreation Site. The nearby Dexter Lake Club was used in the filming of the road trip scene in the movie Animal House.The Lost Valley Educational Center is an intentional community near Dexter. The Parvin Bridge, a covered bridge near Dexter, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It carries Parvin Road over Lost Creek, which flows by Dexter.In 2002, despite not having a city government, Dexter residents opened a public library, the Cascades Foothills Library, that as of August 2006 they are hoping to expand into a regional library.

Trent is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in central Lane County, along Rattlesnake Creek, a north-flowing tributary of the Middle Fork Willamette River. The Middle Fork forms the northeast boundary of the CDP. Oregon Route 58 runs through the southern part of Trent, leading northwest 14 miles (23 km) to Eugene, the county seat. To the southeast, Route 58 immediately passes through Dexter and leads 27 miles (43 km) to Oakridge.

Unity Bridge (World Guide Number 37-20-170) is an historic 90-foot (27 m) long covered bridge over Fall Creek at Unity near Lowell in Lane County, Oregon, United States. Also known as Unity Covered Bridge and Unity Creek Bridge, it was built in 1936 at a cost $4,400 by Lane County using the Howe truss system. Its east side features a full-length window with its own roof so that drivers can see oncoming cars.The Unity Bridge was preceded by a covered bridge built in 1890. Limited to foot-traffic only after 1936, it was removed in 1953. The Unity Bridge, which replaced the original bridge, is 0.75 miles (1.2 km) further upstream. It is about 1 mile (1.6 km) downstream of the dam impounding Fall Creek Lake.County officials temporarily closed the bridge for repairs in 1986. Work included a new floor, exterior painting, repair of piers and guardrails, and vandalism cleanup.The bridge carries Lowell–Unity Road over the creek. Unity Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Lowell Grange, also known as Lowell School, in the rural community of Lowell, Oregon, was built in 1940 as a school building. Later, although in historic era, it was renovated to be used as a Grange hall. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.It was then the last surviving historic public building in the community.
