Big Pool, Maryland

Cherry Run is a 7.2-mile-long (11.6 km) meandering stream that forms the northern section of the boundary between Morgan and Berkeley counties in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. While it is mostly non-navigable, Cherry Run provides many pools of varying depths for fishing and swimming. As a tributary of the Potomac River, Cherry Run is part of the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay watersheds.

Ernstville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Washington County, Maryland, United States. Its population was 56 as of the 2010 census.

Fort Frederick State Park is a public recreation and historic preservation area on the Potomac River surrounding the restored Fort Frederick, a fortification active in the French and Indian War (1754–1763) and the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). The state park lies south of the town of Big Pool, Maryland. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal runs through the park grounds. The site was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973.

Cherry Run is a small unincorporated community hamlet located along the CSX Transportation (formerly Baltimore and Ohio Railroad) mainline on the Potomac River in Morgan County in the U.S. state of West Virginia. The community is named for the stream, Cherry Run, that meets the Potomac in its vicinity. It was originally known as Cherry Run Depot because of the important interchange between the B&O and the Western Maryland Railway located there. The last remnant of the interchange was Miller Tower, an interlocking tower controlling the junction. The tower was closed in September 2000, disassembled, and moved to the Martinsburg Shops site in February 2001. It was eventually reassembled there in November 2005. Across the Potomac from Cherry Run lies Big Pool on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. Cherry Run is reached by Householder Road (Morgan County Route 10) from the west and both Cherry Run Road (County Route 5) and Fulton Road (County Route 1/5) from Martinsburg Road (West Virginia Route 9) to the south. On the B&O mainline, Cherry Run is located between Hancock to its west and Little Georgetown in Berkeley County to its east.

Huyett (also known as Huyetts Crossroads) is an unincorporated community not considered as a census-designated place (CDP) in western Washington County, Maryland, United States. It is located north of Williamsport and south of Cearfoss on Maryland Route 63 and on U.S. Route 40, west of Hagerstown and east of Clear Spring. Huyett is officially included in the Hagerstown Metropolitan Area (Hagerstown-Martinsburg, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area). Many trucking firms and transportation related businesses of the Hagerstown area are located in Huyett. The community benefits from easy access to both Interstate 70 via exit 24 (MD 63) and Interstate 81 via exit 6B (US 40).

Indian Springs is an unincorporated community in western Washington County, Maryland, United States. Its population was 64 as of the 2010 census.

Back Creek is a 59.5-mile-long (95.8 km) tributary of the Potomac River that flows north from Frederick County, Virginia, to Berkeley County in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. Back Creek originates along Frederick County's border with Hampshire County, West Virginia, at Farmer's Gap in the Great North Mountain. Its name reflects its location to the west of North Mountain. The perspective of colonists from the east in the 18th century led them to call it "Back Creek", because it lay to the back of North Mountain.

Tilhance Creek is a 10.4-mile-long (16.7 km) tributary stream of Back Creek in Berkeley County of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle.

Allensville is an unincorporated community in Berkeley County in the U.S. state of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. It is located on Allensville Road (West Virginia Secondary Route 3/2) to the east of Back Creek shortly before its confluence with the Potomac River. The claypits in North Mountain along the old Baltimore and Ohio Railroad mainline lie to the southeast of Allensville.

Johnsontown is an unincorporated community at the junction of West Virginia Route 9 and Camp Frame Road along Tilhance Creek in Berkeley County, West Virginia, United States. The town was originally named Soho by settlers after Soho in London's West End. Its name was later changed to Johnstontown and finally Johnsontown.
