Levenshulme

Levenshulme Antiques Village, formerly Levenshulme Town Hall, is a former municipal building on Stockport Road in Levenshulme, a suburb of Manchester in England. The building, which served as the offices and meeting place of Levenshulme Urban District Council, now accommodates an antiques centre.

Levenshulme railway station is in Levenshulme, Manchester, England. The station is 3.1 miles (5 km) south east of Manchester Piccadilly towards Stockport. Four tracks go through the station, with the centre tracks used by fast trains and the outer by stopping trains.

Levenshulme South railway station in Levenshulme, Manchester, England, was on the Fallowfield Line, now a cycle path. History The station opened on 2 May 1892, originally as Levenshulme. It was renamed on 15 September 1952, closed to passenger traffic on 7 July 1958, and to freight in 1987. This was one of two stations in Levenshulme; the other, Levenshulme railway station, is still used today. Restoration of the building started in 2018 to turn it into Station South, a cycle cafe/bar and urban garden.

Cedar Mount Academy is an academy in Gorton, Manchester, England. The school caters for boys and girls aged 11–16 years and is located in the East of the city of Manchester. The school has moved into the new building with Melland High School called Gorton Education Village. They moved into this new state-of-the-art building in 2008. The school has its own website in which parents can visit in which to gain information, make inquiries and read about upcoming events.

ALL FM is a local community radio station serving south, central and east Manchester and based in the South Manchester suburb of Levenshulme. The station is run by paid staff and volunteers living in its coverage area. ALL FM began in 2000 as a project of the charity Radio Regen, with a four-day broadcast under the title Radio Longsight. After the success of Radio Longsight, ALL FM was created, with station manager Dave Lenaghan, covering the Longsight area and the neighbouring areas of Ardwick and Levenshulme (hence the acronym ALL). As ALL FM, two RSL broadcasting licences were obtained, allowing ALL FM to transmit on a temporary basis. In 2002, the station became part of the government's 'Access Radio' pilot scheme. ALL FM became an independent company and was granted a permanent broadcasting licence in 2005.Catering to an area described by the founders as "one of the most multicultural outside London",. The wide variety of programming includes French, Cantonese, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Panjabi and Hindi. In 2015 poet and broadcaster Lemn Sissay became patron of ALL FM. He said he loved the diversity of the station and it was (as far as he knew) the only station to have played his track 'Architecture'. In 2019, international musician Aziz Ibrahim (guitarist who works with The Stone Roses & many other artists) took over as patron. ALL FM's sister station WFM 97.2 broadcasts to the Wythenshawe area of Manchester, a few miles south of the ALL FM target area.

Gorton South is a defunct Local Government ward in the Gorton area of the City of Manchester. The population of Gorton South ward at the 2011 census was 19,615. Under boundary changes by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) the ward was abolished and replaced with the new electoral ward Gorton and Abbey Hey from May 2018.

Highfield Country Park is a 70-acre (280,000 m2) area of open land, situated on the east side of Levenshulme, Manchester, that stretches to the east of Broom Avenue across to the rear of Reddish Golf Course and to the junction of Longford Road, Reddish and Nelstrop Road, Levenshulme.Prior to 2004, the park was jointly maintained by Manchester City Council and a group of volunteers called The Friends of Highfield Park. In July 2004 the park came to the attention of the Prudential Grass Roots campaign (run by the BTCV conservation charity). Over a 12-month period the park was transformed from a dreary, vandalised wasteland into a country park with a picnic area and mapped out country walks.In 2008 Highfield Country Park was designated a Local Nature Reserve, providing a protected habitat for many animal and plant species.

Slade Hall is a small Elizabethan manor house on Slade Lane in Longsight, Manchester, England (grid reference SJ870948). An inscription above the porch dates the building to 1585. The mansion is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, first listed on 25 February 1952.

Nico Ditch is a six-mile (9.7 km) long linear earthwork between Ashton-under-Lyne and Stretford in Greater Manchester, England. It was dug as a defensive fortification, or possibly a boundary marker, between the 5th and 11th century. The ditch is still visible in short sections, such as a 330-yard (300 m) stretch in Denton Golf Course. For the parts which survived, the ditch is 4–5 yards (3.7–4.6 m) wide and up to 5 feet (1.5 m) deep. Part of the earthwork is protected as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
