Mad River Glen

The Appalachian Gap is a mountain pass in the Green Mountains of Vermont. The highest point of the pass is located in Chittenden County, about 0.2 mi (0.32 km) west of the boundary between Chittenden and Washington County. The pass is in the Camel's Hump State Park. On the east side, Appalachian Gap is drained by Mill Brook, which drains into the Mad River, the Winooski River, and into Lake Champlain. To the west, the gap is drained by Beaver Meadow Brook, which drains into the Huntington River, another tributary of the Winooski River. Lake Champlain drains into the Richelieu River in Quebec, thence into the Saint Lawrence River, and into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The Long Trail, a 272-mile (438 km) hiking trail running the length of Vermont, crosses Appalachian Gap between Stark Mountain to the south, and Baby Stark Mountain to the north. The Gap is a very popular route for tourists and affords excellent views of the Champlain Valley, Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. It is also a popular motorcycle and road biking destination. The ride from either side up route 17 from is several kilometers with sustained pitches of 15% plus. The summit of Appalachian Gap is the finish point for the road race stage (stage 3) of the annual Green Mountain Stage Race. The Mad River Glen ski area is just south of the gap, on the east side of Stark Mountain.

Stark Mountain (also known as General Stark Mountain) is a mountain in the Green Mountains in the U.S. state of Vermont. Located in the town of Fayston in Washington County, the mountain summit is 3,662 feet (1,116 m) in elevation. Stark Mountain is named after General John Stark, hero of the Battle of Bennington fought in 1777.

Camel's Hump State Forest (alternatively Camels Hump State Forest) covers a total of 2,323 acres (9.40 km2) in two blocks in the U.S. state of Vermont. Stevens Block comprises 1,680 acres (6.8 km2) in Buels Gore, Fayston, and Starksboro in Chittenden, Washington, and Addison counties, respectively. Howe Block covers 643 acres (2.60 km2) in Waitsfield and Fayston, both in Washington county. The forest is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation.

Buels Gore is a gore in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. The population was 29 at the 2020 census, down from 30 in 2010. In Vermont, gores and grants are unincorporated portions of a county which are not part of any town and have limited self-government (if any, as many are uninhabited).

Mount Ellen is a mountain in the Green Mountains in the U.S. state of Vermont. Located at the northern edge of the Green Mountain National Forest in Washington County, the summit of Mount Ellen is in the northwest corner of Warren but the mountain extends into Fayston to the north and Lincoln to the west. Together with Lincoln Peak to the south, the slopes of Mount Ellen are home to the Sugarbush Resort. Mount Ellen is one of a handful of 4,000-foot (1,200 m) peaks in Vermont. At 4,083 feet (1,244 m), it is tied (with Camel's Hump) for the third-highest mountain in the state.

Huntington Gap Wildlife Management Area is a wildlife management area in the U.S. state of Vermont. It consists of 1,602 acres (648 ha) in the towns of Huntington, Buels Gore, and Fayston. The area is owned by the State of Vermont and administered by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. The Huntington Gap Wildlife Management Area is approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Vermont Route 17 in Chittenden and Washington counties. The area is wholly contained within Camel's Hump Forest Reserve. It is bordered by Camel's Hump State Park on the north, south, and west. Its far western boundary extends to Lewis Creek Wildlife Management Area.

Fayston is a town in Washington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,364 at the 2020 census.

Sugarbush Resort is a ski resort located in the Mad River valley in Warren, Vermont, owned by Alterra Mountain Company. It is one of the largest ski resorts in New England. The resort encompasses more than 4000 acres (16 km²) total, 484 trail acres (2.34 km²) skiable, 53 miles (85 km) of trails, and 16 ski lifts. Sugarbush has 111 ski trails, 18 additional marked wooded areas, and substantial off-piste skiing and riding The summit elevation is 4,083 ft (1,244 m), and it has a vertical drop of 2,600 feet (790 m), the second largest in Vermont after Killington, and the third largest in New England after Killington and Sugarloaf.

Lincoln Peak is a mountain located on the border between Addison and Washington counties in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is part of the Lincoln Mountain section of the Green Mountains in the Green Mountain National Forest. Lincoln Peak is flanked to the southwest by Mount Abraham, and to the north by Nancy Hanks Peak, which was named after Abraham Lincoln's assassination. Lincoln Peak is named after Major General Benjamin Lincoln, who was instrumental in the American Revolutionary War victory at Saratoga. The summit is in the town of Lincoln, which is also named after Benjamin Lincoln. Lincoln Peak stands within the watershed of Lake Champlain, which drains into the Richelieu River in Québec, then into the Saint Lawrence River, and into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The south face of Lincoln Peak drains into Lincoln Brook, then into the Mad River, the Winooski River, and into Lake Champlain. The east side of Lincoln Peak drains into Bradley Brook, then into the Mad River. The northeast side of Lincoln Peak drains into Clay Brook, then into the Mad River. The west face of Lincoln Peak drains by various streams into Beaver Meadow Brook, then into the New Haven River, Otter Creek, and into Lake Champlain. The Long Trail traverses the summit ridge of Lincoln Peak. Sugarbush Resort is on the northeast slope of the mountain.

Knoll Farm, also formerly known as McLaughlin Farm, is a historic farm property at 700 Bragg Hill Road in Fayston, Vermont. The farm has seen agricultural use since 1804, and the patterns of use are evident in the surviving farm buildings and landscape. The property, is still actively farmed and also used as a retreat center and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Mount Abraham (known as Mount Abe to locals) is a mountain in the Green Mountains in the U.S. state of Vermont. Located in the Green Mountain National Forest, its summit is in the town of Lincoln in Addison County, but its eastern slopes extend into the town of Warren in Washington County. The mountain is named after Abraham Lincoln, former president of the United States. It is one of five peaks in Vermont's Presidential Range. At 4,006 feet (1,221.0 m), Mount Abraham is the highest point in Addison County, the fifth highest peak in Vermont, and one of the hundred highest peaks in New England. Its summit supports a small amount of alpine tundra vegetation.

The Washington-1 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Washington-1 District includes all of the Washington County towns of Fayston, Waitsfield, and Warren. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Washington-1 District had a population of 4,481 in that same census, 10.4% above the state average.
