The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) is a major space research centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), focusing on rocket and space vehicles for India's satellite programme. It is located in Thiruvananthapuram, in the Indian state of Kerala. The centre had its beginnings as the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) in 1962. It was renamed in honour of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, often regarded as the father of the Indian space program. H.G.S. Murthy was appointed as the first director of Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station.The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre is one of the main research and development establishments within ISRO. VSSC is an entirely indigenous facility working on the development of sounding rockets, the Rohini and Menaka launchers, and SLV, ASLV, PSLV, GSLV and GSLV Mk III families of launch vehicles.

Veli Lake or Veli Kayal is a freshwater lake in the state of Kerala and is situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. lake is 8 km from Kerala's capital city, Thiruvananthapuram.On the eastern side, Veli Lake is connected to the Arabian Sea.

Kuzhivila is a locality in the northwest of Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala, India. It is located along the Kazhakoottam - Kovalam highway bypass. This bypass is part of NH66. Kuzhivila is near the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station and two software company campuses—Infosys SEZ and UST. Kuzhivila junction also houses one of the polling booths for state and central elections - Govt. U P School, Kuzhivila.

Sree Kulathoor Kolathukara Shiva Temple is a Hindu temple located in Thiruvananthapuram in the Indian state of Kerala, in 1893. The temple was built at the request of Narayana Guru in 1915.This is the temple where Sree Narayana Guru performed Shiva Pratishtha for the second time. Before that, Bhadrakali was the deity there. It was at this temple that Sri Narayana Guru composed the Kolatireshastavam in praise of Kolathukara Mahadeva.

Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS),Thiruvananthapuram is an Indian spaceport established on 21 November 1963. Operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), it is located in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, which is near the southwestern tip of mainland India, very close to Earth's magnetic equator. It is currently used by ISRO for launching sounding rockets.The first rockets were assembled in the former St Louis High School, which now houses a space museum. The local Bishop of Trivandrum, Rev. Peter Bernard Periera, along with Vincent Victor Dereere (a Belgian) and district collector Madhavan Nair were instrumental in acquiring a large parcel of land measuring 600 acres from coastal community. Periera had given away the prayer hall and bishop's room in the local church. Minister of State for External Affairs, Lakshmi N. Menon helped to smooth bureaucratic hurdles facing the project in Delhi. H. G. S. Murthy was appointed as the first Director of Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station.Rockets launched from the site include RH-300, M-100, Nike Apache, Arcas, Boosted Arcas, Skua 1, Centaure, Centaure 2A, Centaure 2B, Nike Tomahawk, Dragon 1, Judi-Dart, Boosted Arcas 2, Petrel 1, RH-75, Skua 2, Sandhawk Tomahawk, Menaka II, RH-125, M-100B, M-100A, RH-200 and RH-300 Mk II.The site has five launchpads: Thumba Pad 1 to 4, for sounding rockets Thumba Pad 5: RH-300 launch complex, active after 1993

VSSC Central School is an English-medium co-educational public school located in the suburb of Thumba, in Thiruvananthapuram, in the Indian state of Kerala. The school offers programmes from grades 1–12. Admission is restricted to children of the employees of the Indian Space Research Organisation . It is a full-fledged senior secondary school, offering five streams at the +2 level with almost 1000 students and 60 staff members. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. It was founded in 1976 with 28 students and four teachers to cater to the educational needs of the children of employees of the ISRO , residing in the ISRO staff quarters. Today, the school has a large campus with five interlinked blocks. There are more than 50 teaching staff, 10 non teaching and five office staff. The school has facilities which include a digital library, football, basketball and hockey courts, assembly and conference halls, 5 staff rooms, sports room, music and arts room, and offers yoga and table tennis facilities. The school also has an Indian Air Force National Cadet Corps squadron with over 50 cadets (affiliated to No.1 KER/AIR/SQN/NCC).

Thiruvananthapuram North railway station (also known as Kochuveli railway station) (station code: KCVL) is a satellite passenger railway terminus of Thiruvananthapuram city in the Indian state of Kerala. It is being developed to ease congestion at Thiruvananthapuram Central. The Kochuveli railway station is located towards the north of the city, approximately at a distance of 8 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram city. The Kochuveli railway station is located near to NH-66 Thiruvananthapuram City bypass.The railway station was opened in 2005. The station has two entrances, eastern side and western side. The eastern side has the satellite terminal from where the trains originating from Kochuveli operate and the old railway station is situated on the western side. Currently, 16 long-distance express trains and one passenger train operate from the station. Kochuveli railway station connects passengers to important cities of India. Some trains presently operating from Thiruvananthapuram Central, including the Sabari Express, will commence the journey from Kochuveli railway station once the station is completely developed. Kochuveli railway station also caters to special trains during busy seasons. The trains connect this station to cities like Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Secunderabad, Hubli, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Madgaon, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Indore, Surat, Nilambur, Jodhpur, Sri Ganganagar and Nagercoil.

Thiruvananthapuram Parliamentary (Lok Sabha) Constituency (Malayalam: തിരുവനന്തപുരം ലോകസഭ നിയോജക മണ്ഡലം) is one of the 20 parliamentary constituencies in Kerala, India. It is located in Thiruvananthapuram district and encompasses the major part of Thiruvananthapuram city, the capital of Kerala State.

Manvila (Monvila) is a place in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. It is located between Sreekaryam and Kulathoor. It is located near the National Highway 66. Trivandrum Technopark and College Of Engineering Trivandrum (CET) are located near Manvila. Manvila Industrial Estate is one of the major industrial areas in Kerala. It houses various industrial firms like Keltron, Family Plastics, Coconics Laptops, Printing Press etc. Roads from Aakkulam, Pangappara, Kazhakoottam and Sreekaryam meet at Manvila. Manvila has seen a growth in the recent years due to the proximity of Technopark and Technovalley, the IT corridor of Kerala. A transmitting station of All India Radio is also present in Manvila.

Pallithura is the north-west portion of Trivandrum city the capital of Kerala state in India. Literally translated from Malayalam, it means 'the beach (Thura) besides the church (Palli). Although most churches in this region where beside the Arabian Sea, the etymology is significant because Pallitura is one of the places where St. Francis Xavier established a church. This church has now been transformed to the space museum of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. The villagers of Pallithura are now famous for their sacrifice in 1962 of most of their village for creating the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS), which was the basis for the formation of Indian Space Research Organization. The revival of interest in the history of Pallithura resulted as a result of President Abdul Kalam's mentioning of it in his books and speeches.

Karikkakom Sree Chamundi Devi Temple or Karikkakom Devi Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Chamundi located in Thiruvananthapuram, India. This ancient temple, more than 600 years old, is situated at Karikkakom, around 7 km north of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The temple enshrines a Panchaloha idol of the goddess Karikkakathamma – an incarnation of Chamundi. The rare fact about this temple is that Chamundi Devi is worshiped here in three different forms: Maha Chamundi, Raktha Chamundi, and Bala Chamundi. During the period of King's rule this temple was the venue for imparting justice and truth. Truth and justice were tested on oath and solemnization and the punishmentsf meted out accordingly.

The Mother of God Church, also known as the Madre de Deus Church ("mother of God" in Portuguese/Latin), is a church located in Vettukad in Kerala, India's Thiruvananthapuram district. The current church building was constructed in 1934 and finished in 1937 and has since grown into a small township with a Christian population of 6,770. There is evidence that Christians have existed in Vettukad since the 15th century. Madre de Deus is known for its Feast of Christ the King celebration, which it has been celebrating for more than 500 years. Organisations such as the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), Legion of Mary, Sodality, Vincent de Paul, and TSSS actively work with the church.
