West Chandler Pond

Upper Chandler Pond is a 10-acre (40,000 m2) pond in Duxbury and Pembroke, Massachusetts, USA. It is located north of Lower Chandler Pond and east of West Chandler Pond. The pond is the headwaters to Pine Brook, a tributary of the Jones River. It is hydrologically associatied with two nearby cranberry bogs. The water quality is impaired due to non-native aquatic plants and non-native fish in the pond.

Lower Chandler Pond is a 30-acre (120,000 m2) pond in Duxbury and Pembroke, Massachusetts. The pond is located north of Reeds Millpond and south of Upper Chandler Pond. Pine Brook, a tributary of the Jones River, flows through the pond. The water quality has been impaired by non-native aquatic plants and non-native fish in the pond.

Pembroke High School, is a public secondary school located on 80 Learning Lane in Pembroke, Massachusetts, United States. The school serves students in grades 9-12 and has an approximate student population of 930 students. It is the only high school serving the town of Pembroke. Students come directly from Pembroke Community Middle School (PCMS). The three elementary schools in the town include Hobomock Elementary, Bryantville Elementary, and North Pembroke Elementary School.

Reeds Millpond is a 10-acre (40,000 m2) pond in Kingston, Massachusetts. The pond is located on Route 27 northwest of the intersection with Winter Street and Reed Street, north of Pembroke Street South Pond, south of Lower Chandler Pond and southwest of Pine Street Pond. Pine Brook, a tributary of the Jones River, flows through the pond. The water quality is impaired due to non-native aquatic plants and non-native fish in the pond.

Silver Lake Regional High School is a public, regional high school in Massachusetts' South Shore region. It is the only secondary school in the Silver Lake Regional School District, comprising the towns of Kingston, Plympton and Halifax, Massachusetts. From 1955 to 2004, the Silver Lake Regional School District included the town of Pembroke, Massachusetts.

Pine Street Pond is a 17-acre (69,000 m2) pond in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The pond is located southeast of Lower Chandler Pond and northeast of Reeds Millpond. The water quality is impaired due to non-native aquatic plants in the pond. The pond is hydrologically associated with a cranberry bog operation located to the west of the pond. An unnamed brook heading west through the cranberry bog and ultimately leading to Pine Brook is the outflow of the pond.

Silver Lake is a 640-acre (2.6 km2) lake in Pembroke, Kingston, and Plympton, Massachusetts, south of Route 27 and east of Route 36. The Pembroke/Plympton town line is entirely within the lake, and a portion of the western shoreline of the lake is the town line with Halifax. It used to be called the Jones River Pond, but its name was changed to Silver Lake in the 1800s in a marketing effort to sell more ice from it. The lake is the principal water supply for the City of Brockton, whose water treatment plant is on Route 36 in Halifax. The inflow of the pond is Tubbs Meadow Brook, and the pond is the headwaters of the Jones River. Occasionally water is diverted into Silver Lake from Monponsett Pond in Halifax and Furnace Pond in Pembroke (through Tubbs Meadow Brook) whenever there is a water shortage. Although the lake is a reservoir, which prevents recreational activities to keep the drinking water clean, the water from the diversions are not and can pump in contaminated water. Monponsett Pond in particular has reoccurring toxic algae growths which get transferred into the lake. It is supposed to be the main source of the Jones River by contributing about twenty percent of the river's flow, but the Forge Pond Dam near its base lets out minimal, some years no, water to the river. This also prevents migratory aquatic animals from reaching the lake. Brockton prefers to keep the dam to have more accessible water. Access to the pond is through Silver Lake Sanctuary, a 92-acre (370,000 m2) property where one can walk, hike and fish, which is located at the end of Barses Lane, off Route 27 in Kingston.

Pembroke Street South Pond is a 16-acre (65,000 m2) pond in Kingston, Massachusetts. The pond is located on Route 27 northwest of the intersection with Winter Street and Reed Street, south of Reeds Millpond. Pine Brook, a tributary of the Jones River, flows through the pond. The water quality is impaired due to non-native aquatic plants and non-native fish in the pond.

The Tarkiln School (also misspelled as Tarklin School), is a historic school building at 245 Summer Street in Duxbury, Massachusetts. The oldest portion of this school is a Greek Revival/Italianate one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1871, which is the right (south) wing of the current U-shaped building. A matching building, now the north wing, was erected in 1908, and the two were joined by a hyphen in 1926. A kitchen wing was added to the east in 1951. The school's name is derived from the Tarkiln neighborhood in which it stands, which was derived from the presence of tar kilns in the area. It served the town as a school until 1949, and has been a community center since 1951.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 (where it is listed as the "Tarklin" School).

The Hobomock Inn was located on Route 36 (a state highway) in Pembroke, Massachusetts. It was famous as a meeting place for American politicians, four terms mayor of Boston and one term Governor of Massachusetts, James Michael Curley and his friends and supporters. Curley also served two terms in the U. S, House of Representatives from 1911 to 1914 representing two different districts. It is claimed that the Hobomock Inn was the reason for the creation of Route 36.

Stump Pond, also known as Reservoir MA 94127, was a 113-acre (0.46 km2) reservoir in Pembroke, Massachusetts in the East Pembroke section of the town, east of the northern end of the Routes 14 and 53, west of Keene Pond and southwest of Arnold School Pond. Today, the area is part of the Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area.

Keene Pond is a 13-acre (5.3 ha) pond in Duxbury, Massachusetts in the Ashdod section of the town. The pond is located east of Stump Pond. Keene Brook, a tributary of the South River, flows through the pond. Camp Wing, a summer camp for children age 7–16 run by Crossroads for Kids, Inc., is located on the eastern shore of the pond.
