The Dulais Valley, one of the South Wales Valleys, is traversed by the River Dulais in southwest Wales north of the town of Neath, Wales. Settlements in the valley include Crynant, Seven Sisters, Banwen, and Dyffryn Cellwen, which are served by the A4109 road through the valley. The towns in the valley developed from the coal mining industry. Visitor attractions in the valley include the Cefn Coed Colliery Museum. The valley is the main location of the 2014 BBC film Pride.

Crynant (Welsh: Y Creunant) is a village and community in the Dulais Valley in Wales. It lies 7¾ miles north-east from the town of Neath in Neath Port Talbot, situated between the mountains of Mynydd Marchywel to the west, Hirfynydd to the east and Mynydd y Drum to the north. Crynant is a long village, lying on the narrow valley floor and lower slopes of Hirfynydd. Originally there were separate villages (essentially separate farms), such as the region of Treforgan, but all have now merged into a single village. The River Dulais flows through the village.

Seven Sisters Onllwyn F.C. is a Welsh football team based in Neath, currently playing in the Ardal SW, which is at the third tier of the Welsh football pyramid.

Ystradgynlais railway station served the town of Ystradgynlais in the traditional county of Breconshire, Wales. Opened in 1873 by the Swansea Vale and Neath and Brecon Junction Railway, it was eventually absorbed by the Midland Railway and it closed to passengers in 1932 although the line through the station remained open for freight for some time after that.

Mynydd y Drum is a hill on the border between the county of Powys and Neath Port Talbot County Borough, south Wales. The summit of the hill is in Neath Port Talbot (formerly the county of Glamorgan) at 298m and lies towards the western end of a broad curving ridge, the larger part of which is in Powys (former county of Brecknockshire). The eastern half of the hill is currently being opencasted for coal. The hill is sometimes referred to simply as The Drum (a Welsh word, so pronounced 'drim').

Seven Sisters (Welsh: Blaendulais: source of the (river) Dulais) is a village and community in the Dulais Valley, Wales, UK. It lies 10 miles (16 km) north-east of Neath. Seven Sisters falls within the Seven Sisters ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough.

Seven Sisters was an electoral ward of the Welsh principal area of Neath Port Talbot county borough. The ward, which included, as well as Seven Sisters proper, the lesser settlements of Bryndulais and Nant-y-cafn, was coterminous with the area served by the Seven Sisters Community Council. Lying in the upper Dulais Valley – in which coalmine workings are still very evident (the village is named after Seven Sisters Colliery which closed in the early 1960s) – the area is characterized by extensive forestry to the north, east and south, and open moorland in the northwest and central areas. Following a 2020 boundary review by the Local Democracy and Boundary Commission for Wales, Seven Sisters was joined by the neighbouring communities of Crynant and Onllwyn to become 'Crynant, Onllwyn and Seven Sisters', effective from the 2022 local elections.

Ystradgynlais Community Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Cymunedol Ystradgynlais) is a health facility in Glanrhyd Road, Ystradgynlais, Powys, Wales. It is managed by the Powys Teaching Health Board.

Ynyscedwyn Ironworks is an industrial complex located in Ystradgynlais, near Swansea, Wales. Smelting was first established here in seventeenth century. In the 1820s, with the arrival of George Crane, production was expanded. Crane was the first ironmaster who successfully tried anthracite to a blast furnace in 1837. In 1837, London bankers, Charles Price and Joseph Marryat, invested in the Ynyscedwyn Ironworks. The remaining structures were built in 1872 to house a planned steel mill. Although not completed, the site housed the Ynyscedwyn Tinplate Works.

Ystradgynlais (English: ; Welsh: [ˌəstradˈɡənlais] ) is a town in southwest Powys, Wales. It is located on the River Tawe, and was within the boundaries of the former county of Brecknockshire. The town has a high proportion of Welsh language-speakers. The community includes Cwmtwrch, Abercraf and Cwmgiedd, with a population of 8,092 in the 2011 census; it is the second-largest town in Powys. It forms part of the Swansea Urban Area where the Ystradgynlais subdivision has a population of 10,248.

Cefn Coed Colliery Halt railway station served the village of Crynant, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1930 to 1962 on the Neath and Brecon Railway.

Ysgol Maesydderwen is a state secondary school and sixth form in Ystradgynlais, Powys. As of 2024, there were 542 pupils on roll at the school. It is an English-medium school.
