KBFL (1060 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a sports format. The station most recently and throughout most of its history had a Music of Your Life adult standards format; from September 1, 2013 through March 2, 2015, KBFL broadcast a smooth jazz format. KBFL simulcasts on KBFL-FM 99.9 and translator K245CA 96.9 FM. The station is licensed to Springfield, Missouri and was previously owned by Meyer-Baldridge, Inc. (d/b/a Meyer Communications). On July 24, 2020, it was announced that the sports talk format on KBFL’s sister station KWTO-FM (now KTXR) would be moving to the KBFL frequencies, and that the entire group of Meyer Communications owned radio stations were being purchased by Zimmer Midwest Communications. KBFL began simulcasting KWTO-FM on July 30, and unveiled a new logo reflecting the new frequencies "JOCK 96.9 FM 99.9 FM 1060 AM.". ESPN on air promos branded the station as “ESPN the JOCK”. As of August 7, 2020, "ESPN the JOCK" fully transitioned to KBFL and KBFL-FM and its 96.9 FM translator. 98.7 FM began broadcasting a soft rock format on August 11.

KGMY (1400 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a sports format. Licensed to Springfield, Missouri, United States, it serves the Springfield market. The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and licensed as iHM Licenses, LLC. KGMY was the ESPN Radio affiliate for Springfield until January 1, 2015. On October 23, 2014, it was announced that KWTO-FM, the market's Fox Sports Radio affiliate, would assume the ESPN Radio affiliation effective January 1, 2015. Fox Sports Radio moved to KGMY on the same date.

KRZD (1550 AM) is a radio station licensed to Springfield, Missouri. KRZD airs an adult hits format branded as "107.5 Bob FM". KRZD has historically been run by the Branson Ticket Outlet and Welcome Center and most ads are directed at bringing tourists into the Ticket Center location. Many of the Ticket Outlet's radio spots advertise free soft drinks and email access for tourists as well as a Milton Crabapple compact disc. On May 20, 2020, KRZD changed their format from travelers' information (which targeted nearby Branson) to mainstream rock, branded as "Z107.5".On May 26, 2023, KRZD flipped to adult hits, branded as "107.5 Bob FM".

Everest College was a for-profit career college in Springfield, Missouri, formerly known as Springfield College. Everest College offered diplomas, associate and bachelor's degrees in the fields of business, administration, computer technology, legal, and health care programs. Everest College was in no way affiliated with Springfield College, located in Springfield, MA, or any of the Springfield College regional campuses.

The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute (now closed) was founded in 1979 to provide an alternative to the traditional teaching Doctor of Psychology programs of education. The programs were designed for individuals desiring an education to prepare them to serve as direct providers of mental health services rather than researchers or academicians. Programs emphasize a holistic approach to mental wellness grounded in the science and practice of clinical psychology. Forest Institute operated the Robert J. Murney Clinic in Springfield, Missouri and was one of the few graduate programs in the US to offer its students a free-standing clinic for practicum experience. This "classroom” provided services to members of the local community and offered students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom. Forest also supported the Center for Innovation and Community Health, the Center for Continuing Education and numerous programs in the greater Springfield area. These programs are intended to fill needs for mental health services, training and consulting in the metro-area and the surrounding rural communities. In 2007, its enrollment totaled 221 students (nearly 75% of whom were women), and it awarded 66 doctoral degrees that year. In 2003, its national rank as a doctoral program in psychology in the United States (by volume of doctorates awarded) was 177 out of 200.The school closed in the fall of 2015, citing financial difficulties following a continued lack of enrollment. Financial problems beset the institution after accreditation status was reduced to provisional following an audit by the American Psychological Association. The audit revealed that Forest Institute misrepresented its graduation rate, proportion of student who found gainful employment, and percentage of students placed in internships necessary for graduation and licensure. To bolster enrollment, several new programs were offered at the Masters level with little to no improvement in enrollment numbers. Doctoral staff hired to head programs were subsequently released despite relocating after being promised meaningful positions. The First Battle of Springfield was a battle of the American Civil War that took place on October 25, 1861, near Springfield, Missouri. Following the Battle of Wilson's Creek, the Missouri State Guard, a pro-Confederate militia organization, drove north and defeated a Federal (Union) force in the Siege of Lexington. Following the fighting at Lexington, Federal Major General John C. Frémont began a campaign that drove into southern Missouri. The main body of the Missouri State Guard fell back to Neosho, but a body of roughly 1,000 new recruits commanded by Colonel Julian Frazier was at Springfield. On October 24, Frémont sent a force raised as his bodyguard commanded by Major Charles Zagonyi on a scouting mission towards Springfield. After joining a cavalry force known as the Prairie Scouts at Bolivar, Zagonyi moved on towards Springfield on October 25. Having lost the element of surprise in a clash with a small group of Missouri State Guardsmen, Zagonyi detoured his men to the west. At around 4:00 p.m., Zagonyi's men encountered Frazier's command. The Missouri State Guardsmen had taken up a defensive position on a partially wooded ridge. The exact details of the battle are unknown, but Zagonyi's men drove off Frazier's troops before entering Springfield and withdrawing north at around the time darkness fell. Zagonyi's post-battle report was intentionally inaccurate and was designed to inflate the contributions of his own troops at the expense of the Prairie Scouts. The action accomplished very little, and Federal troops occupied Springfield again two days later. Frémont was relieved of command in early November, and his successor called off the campaign and withdrew, allowing the Missouri State Guard to reoccupy Springfield, although they were driven out of Missouri in early 1862.

JFK Stadium is a sport stadium in Springfield, Missouri. The facility is used by Evangel University and local high schools for American football, track and field, and soccer. It is also host to other university and city athletic and non-athletic events. It was named for former United States President John F. Kennedy.

The Johnny Morris Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium, also known as simply Wonders of Wildlife is a not-for-profit educational conservation-themed attraction in Springfield, Missouri. It is located adjacent to the Bass Pro Shops National headquarters, and is named for Johnny Morris, the Bass Pro Shops' founder. The 350,000 square foot facility consists of two major sections. The Wildlife Museum presents a series of immersive wildlife galleries containing taxidermied animals from around the world displayed in elaborate and detailed dioramas representing a variety of natural habitats, as well as historic artifacts, artwork, films, and special exhibits, including the Boone and Crockett Club's North American Heads and Horns Collection of big game mounts. The 1.5 million gallon (5.7 million liter) Aquarium showcases 35,000 individual fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals in a series of themed areas including an ocean shipwreck, Louisiana swamp, Ozark forest, and the Amazon rainforest. In a press release accompanying the facility's grand opening announcement Morris was quoted as saying, “Wonders of Wildlife is an inspirational journey around the world that celebrates the role of hunters and anglers as America’s true conservation heroes.”

The Second Battle of Springfield was a battle in the American Civil War fought January 8, 1863, in Springfield, Missouri. It is sometimes known as The Battle of Springfield. (The First Battle of Springfield was fought on October 25, 1861, and there was also the better-known Battle of Wilson's Creek, fought nearby on August 10, 1861.) Fighting was urban and house-to-house, which was rare in the war.

The Archery Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Springfield, Missouri on the upper floor of Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World.

Parkview High School is a public high school located in Springfield, Missouri. Part of Springfield Public Schools, it was the second high school to have been built in Springfield, after Central High School.

Rock Fountain Court Historic District, also known as Melinda Court, is a historic traveler's accommodation and national historic district located at Springfield, Greene County, Missouri. The district encompasses 10 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure associated with a tourist court. The district developed between about 1945 and 1952, and includes 9 tourist cabins and a large frame garage. The cabins are of frame construction and faced in masonry ranging from all dark sandstone, to white limestone accented with red brick.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
