Derby North () is a constituency formed of part of the city of Derby, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Amanda Solloway, a Conservative.Between 1983 and 2005, the seat was a bellwether; in 2010 and 2017, the seat leaned more to the political left than the overall result. The seat has been relative to others a marginal seat since 2001, as well as a swing seat, as its winner's majority has not exceeded 8.6% of the vote since the 15.9% majority won at that year's general election. The seat has changed hands twice since then.

Darley Abbey is a former historic mill village, now a suburb of the city of Derby, England. It is located approximately 1.4 miles (2.3 km) north of the city centre, on the west bank of the River Derwent, and forms part of the Darley ward along with Little Chester and the West End. The settlement dates back to the medieval era, when it was the site of an Augustinian monastery. In the 18th century, the Evans family developed their planned industrial mill village in the area; Darley Abbey is now part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The area has been a part of the city (originally borough) of Derby since 1968 and is counted as part of Darley Ward.

Allestree is a suburb and ward of the city of Derby, a unitary authority area, in Derbyshire, England. It is the northernmost ward and is on the A6 road, about 2 miles (3 km) north of Derby city centre. It is bordered by the district of Amber Valley along its western and northern edges and Erewash in its north-east corner. To the south it borders the ward of Mackworth and to the east the ward of Darley Abbey. Allestree village was previously part of the Earl of Northumbria's estate before the Norman Conquest and was mentioned in the Domesday Book as part of the Markeaton estate. The Allestree estate was acquired by the Mundy family in 1516 and stayed in the family until it was bought by Derby City Council in the early 20th century. The ward now contains the remaining parts of the village of Markeaton and became a parish in its own right in 1864 and was incorporated into the Borough of Derby in 1968. The ward is largely residential and has two parks, Allestree Park to the north and Markeaton Park to the south. Markeaton Park is the most used leisure facility in Derby with over 1 million visitors a year. The shopping needs of the area are met with the Park Farm shopping centre which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013 and at its inception was one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

Darley Park is an urban park on the banks of the River Derwent, just north of Derby City Centre, England, United Kingdom. It has a total area of 80 acres and forms the largest part of the Darley Open Spaces. The park is one of Derby's most popular outdoor spaces.

The University of Derby, formerly known as Derby College, is a public university in the city of Derby, England. It traces its history back to the establishment of the Derby Diocesan Institution for the Training of Schoolmistresses in 1851. It gained university status in 1992. The university provides over 300 study programmes at undergraduate level. Undergraduate programmes as well as short courses, foundation degrees and postgraduate degrees cover most academic disciplines and sub-disciplines. Currently, the university is home to around 34,000 students in all areas of study.

Strutt's Park Roman Fort was a Roman fort in Strutt's Park, a suburb of Derby in Derbyshire, England. It was built around the year 50 and replaced, probably between the years 75 and 80, by a new fort at Little Chester on the opposite bank of the River Derwent.

St Alkmund's Church is a Church of England parish church on Kedleston Road in Derby. It was built in the 1970s to replace the Victorian St Alkmund's Church which had been demolished in 1968 to enable the construction of the Derby inner ring road, St Alkmund's Way (A601).When the Victorian church was demolished, traces of several earlier churches were revealed, stretching back to the 9th century. Artefacts found included the stone sarcophagus of Alkmund of Derby, now in Derby Museum and Art Gallery.The new church was consecrated in 1972. The parish of St Werburgh's was combined with St Alkmund's in 1984.In December 2017 it was announced that the incumbent Revd Canon Jean Burgess was to become the next Archdeacon of Bolton, Diocese of Manchester. In March 2020, the previous curate, James Durrant, was appointed as Assistant Curate (Associate Minister) of St Alkmund's and Priest-in-Charge of St Paul's, Chester Green.Following the sad death of vicar-designate Ian Moutford in December 2019, the church went into vacancy for a short period with Revd Susie Curtis acting as Interim Associate Minister and Paul Desborough as curate. On 7th November 2021 the Revd Mina Munns was licensed as Vicar of St Alkmund's and in 2022 was joined by the Revd Fay Price as Associate Curate (alongside James Durrant). St Alkmund's today is an active, family-focused church who meet in the building every Sunday morning at 10am and also stream Live to their YouTube Channel. Multiple other services and activities are advertised through their social media pages on Instagram and Facebook.

Handyside Bridge, also known as Derwent Bridge, is a former railway bridge in Darley Abbey, Derbyshire, England which was converted to a foot bridge in 1976 following closure of the railway in 1968. Named for its builders, Andrew Handyside & Co., it is a tied-arch bridge constructed from riveted wrought iron and is situated at the entrance to Darley Park in Derby. It spans the River Derwent and was part of the Great Northern Railway Derbyshire Extension popularly known as the (Derby) Friargate Line. The next station to the south was Friargate which has another bridge built by Andrew Handyside.

Derventio was a small town in the Roman province of Britannia. Today the area is known as Little Chester, on the outskirts of Derby, located in the English county of Derbyshire.

Bath Street Mill was a silk throwing mill in Derby, built in 1851 for George Holme. In spite of the recession in the silk industry in 1857, he expanded the mill in 1868. In 2008 plans were made to convert the mill into flats and offices, but the building was damaged beyond repair by a fire in June 2009, and later demolished.
