Völs am Schlern (German pronunciation: [fœls am ˈʃlɛrn]; Italian: Fiè allo Sciliar [ˈfjɛ allo ʃʃiˈljar]; Ladin: Fíe or Fië), often abbreviated to Völs, is a municipality in South Tyrol in northern Italy. It is located at the foot of the Schlern mountain, about 12 kilometres (7 mi) east of Bolzano.

The earth pyramids of Ritten (German: Erdpyramiden am Ritten; Italian: Piramidi di terra del Renon [piˈraːmidi di ˈtɛrra del reˈnon]) are a natural monument that is located on the Ritten, a plateau not far from Bolzano in northern Italy. Earth pyramids are a fairly widespread phenomenon that exist in various locations, such as South Tyrol and Platten. The original name in this area for these earth pyramids is Lahntürme, i.e., landslide towers. They originate from glacial moraine rocks. The columns of the pyramids may be more or less elongated, and the higher they are, the thinner they get, ending usually with a stone cover. These earth pyramids are constantly evolving, continuously eroding, and will possibly collapse and make way for new formations.

The EVB Eagles Südtirol, previously known as the EV Bozen Eagles during 2008 to 2017, are an ice hockey team in the European Women's Hockey League (EWHL) and the Italian Hockey League Women (IHLW; previously the Serie A). Seis am Schlern (German pronunciation: [saɪ̯s ʔam ˈʃlɛrn]; Italian: Siusi allo Sciliar [ˈsjuːzi ˈallo ʃʃiˈljar]) is an Alpine village in South Tyrol, in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of northern Italy. It is a frazione of the comune of Kastelruth.

The Schlern (German pronunciation: [ʃlɛrn]; Italian: Sciliar [ʃiˈljar]; Ladin: Sciliër; 2,563 m) is a mountain of the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. The peak at the north west end of the mountain (left, in the image at right) was first ascended in July 1880 by Johann Santner. It is named the Santner Spitze in his honour. The Schlern dominates the villages of Seis am Schlern and Völs am Schlern, and the summit can be reached following the circular route marked with the number 1 from both villages. At 1,700 metres (5,577 ft), there is the Schlernboden inn and on the summit plateau is the Schlernhaus inn 2,457 metres (8,061 ft), both open from 1 June to 15 October. The highest summit is the Petz with 2,564 metres (8,412 ft). The Schlern is sung of in the Bozner Bergsteigerlied as one of South Tyrol's landmarks. Its characteristic profile appears on the Der Schlern - Zeitschrift für Südtiroler Landeskunde (Magazine for South Tyrolean Regional Studies) and the logo pressed into Loacker's wafer biscuits.

Karneid (German pronunciation: [karˈnaɪ̯t]; Italian: Cornedo all'Isarco [korˈneːdo alliˈzarko]) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) east of the city of Bolzano. It is also the location of Karneid castle.

Welschnofen (German: [vɛlʃn̩ˈoːfn̩]; Italian: Nova Levante [ˈnɔːva leˈvante]) is a comune (municipality) in the autonomous province of South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southeast of the city of Bolzano.

The Ritten Railway (German: Rittnerbahn or Rittner Bahn, Italian: Ferrovia del Renon) is an electric light railway which originally connected Bolzano with the Ritten plateau and today continues to operate on the plateau, connecting the villages located there.
