Grant Hollow is a hamlet in Rensselaer County, in the U.S. state of New York.The community took its name from the Grant-Ferris Company, manufacturers of agricultural equipment. The name is sometimes spelled with the apostrophe, "Grant's Hollow".

Halford–Hayner Farmstead is a historic home and farm located near Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. The farmhouse was built between about 1835 and 1850, and consists of a 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, frame main block with a later two-story rear ell. Also on the property are the contributing shed (c. 1900), ice house (c. 1900), main barn group (c. 1800–1815, c. 1820–1840, c. 1870), wagon / tool barn (c. 1830-1850), hay barn (c. 1870-1900), and shop / garage (c. 1915).: 3–5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

It is located northeast of Troy on New York State Route 40, which is named Speigletown Road in that section. It is near the Hudson River, which is the border of Saratoga County. It shares ZIP code 12182 with Lansingburgh. Its coordinates are 42° 48' 16" North, 73° 38' 5" West.

Schaghticoke SKAT-i-kohk is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 7,445 at the 2020 census. It was named for the Schaghticoke, a Native American tribe formed in the seventeenth century from an amalgamation of remnant peoples of eastern New York and New England. The tribe has one of the oldest reservations in the United States, located in what is now Litchfield County, Connecticut. It has been recognized by the state of Connecticut but has not yet achieved federal recognition. The town is on the northern border of the county, north of Troy. The town contains a village, also called Schaghticoke, and part of the village of Valley Falls.

Auclair–Button Farmstead is a historic home and farm and national historic district located at Melrose, Rensselaer County, New York. The original section of the farmhouse was built about 1785, with the main block built in 1849. It is a two-story, five-bay, frame house with a side-gabled roof. It features a full-width front porch. Also on the property are the contributing garage (c. 1930), ice house (c. 1900), tenant house (c. 1805-1840) and garage (c. 1930), shop barn (c. 1810-1830), dairy barn (c. 1901), milk house (c. 1910), horse barn (c. 1820–1840, c. 1894, c. 1900), hen house (c. 1910), and corn crib (c. 1900).: 3–5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Mechanicville Hydroelectric Plant is a 18.3-acre (7.4 ha) national historic district located at Mechanicville in Saratoga County, New York. The listing included one contributing building and three contributing structures. The district dates to 1897 and includes notable Queen Anne architecture.The district includes the powerhouse, an earth embankment, a concrete non-overflow dam, and a 700-foot-long concrete gravity overflow dam. They were built in 1897–1898 by the Hudson River Power Transmission Company and span the western channel of the Hudson River between the Saratoga County shore and Bluff Island.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.The station was designed to produce 5000 kilowatts from seven hydraulic turbine-generator units. Extensive renovations starting in 2003 have turned the plant into a working museum. In 2021, the plant started mining bitcoin with a portion of the hydro-power energy. Because running a plant that still uses all of the original 1800s machinery, mining bitcoin has been three times more profitable than selling electricity back to the national grid.

HVDC Mechanicville–Schenectady was the first experimental HVDC transmission line in the United States. Built in 1932, the circuit traversed 37 kilometres (23 mi) from Mechanicville, New York to Schenectady, New York. The system used mercury arc rectifiers at a voltage of 20,000 volts and a rated power of 5 MW. The facility was dismantled after World War II.

Schaghticoke is a village in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 592 at the 2010 census. During the colonial period of 1640-1750, this area was occupied by a mixed group of Native Americans — Mohicans, who were local, and remnants of numerous New England tribes who had migrated west away from European encroachment and warfare. The Village of Schaghticoke is in the Town of Schaghticoke, near the eastern town line. Schaghticoke is west of the Village of Valley Falls.

Knickerbocker Mansion is a historic home located at Schaghticoke in Rensselaer County, New York. The property was occupied by the Knickerbocker family for nearly 250 years, from about 1707 until 1946. The mansion was built by Johannes Knickerbacker III around 1770. It was acquired in 1964 by the Knickerbocker Historical Society and is operated as a local history museum. The Knickerbocker Historical Society (KHS) have almost entirely restored the mansion. The Knickerbocker Mansion grounds were the location of the “Witenagemot Oak,” planted in 1676 to commemorate the signing of a treaty between New York governor Edmund Andros and the local Mahican people and native refugees from King Philip's War. The oak stood until 1948.The house was built about 1770 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, rectangular brick building. It has a hipped roof, covered in slate, that curves slightly at the eaves. The front facade once featured a one-bay, pedimented entrance portico. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Coletti–Rowland–Agan Farmstead is a historic farm and national historic district located at Pittstown, Rensselaer County, New York. The farm property consists of an East Farm and a West Farm. The East Farm includes a house (c. 1890), shop barn (c. 1850), tractor shed (c. 1850, c. 1900-1930), hen house (c. 1930), dairy barn (c. 1900, moved c. 1912), horse barn (c. 1910), oat barn (c. 1900), and tool barn (c. 1910) The West Farm farmhouse was about 1870, and has a 2 1/2-story, Greek Revival style main block with two 1 1/2-story additions. Also on the property are the contributing shed (c. 1850), horse barn (c. 1870-1890), garage (c. 1920), main barn group (c. 1860, c. 1810-1840), milk house (c. 1910), oat house (c. 1850), and two corn cribs (c. 1850, c. 1920).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Lansingburgh was a village in the north end of Troy. It was first laid out in lots and incorporated in 1771 by Abraham Jacob Lansing, who had purchased the land in 1763. In 1900, Lansingburgh became part of the City of Troy.
