Elmore, Vermont

The Lamoille-Washington-1 Representative District is a two-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Lamoille-Washington-1 District includes all of the Lamoille County towns of Elmore and Morristown, and the Washington County towns of Woodbury and Worcester. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The two member Lamoille-Washington-1 District had a population of 7,699 in that same census, 5.16% below the state average.

Lake Elmore is a 219-acre (0.89 km2) lake located in and named after Elmore, Vermont. The lake is located northwest of Elmore, and it drains into the Lamoille River through Elmore Pond Brook at the northern end. Recently, the lake has had a problem with milfoil, and there are several fundraisers every year to help the Milfoil Foundation, which then uses the money to pay for the milfoil's extraction. The park had its beginning in 1936 when the town of Elmore and local citizens made a gift of 30 acres on Lake Elmore to the state of Vermont. With modest means, a picnic and beach area were created. Today, with more than 700 acres, Elmore State Park has become a popular, developed recreation facility. According to the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, the town calls itself "The Beauty Spot of Vermont."

Elmore State Park is a state park located in Elmore, Vermont, United States. It includes Lake Elmore and Elmore Mountain, and has day-use facilities for picnicking, hiking, and water-based activities, and a 59-site campground. Some of its facilities were developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps; for these, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The park is open seasonally between Memorial Day and Columbus Day; fees are charged for day use and camping.

The Lamoille River Route 15-A Bridge is a modern steel-and-concrete structure, built in 2013 to carry Vermont Route 15A over the Lamoille River east of Morrisville, Vermont, United States. It was built to replace a metal truss bridge erected there in 1928. The old bridge, of Pratt through truss design, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, and was dismantled in 2007.

The Fisher Covered Railroad Bridge is a covered bridge in Wolcott, Vermont. Built in 1908, it originally carried the St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County Railroad line over the Lamoille River. Now closed, it was the last covered bridge in Vermont to carry railroad traffic, and is a rare surviving example in the state of a double Town lattice truss. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Morrisville is a village in the town of Morristown, Lamoille County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village population was 2,086. Morrisville has two country clubs, a hospital, a school featuring Greek architecture and an airport. Morrisville is the headquarters for Union Bank.

The Morrisville Depot located at 10 Depot Street (aka 10 Railroad Street) in Morrisville, Vermont, is a decommissioned historic train station. Built in 1872 to serve the Portland and Ogdensburg Railway, the depot was known as the most important train station for the Vermont lumber industry, for its decorative architectural ornament, and for housing the headquarters of the St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County Railroad from 1959 to the early 1970s. It was subsequently converted into a restaurant. The Morrisville Depot was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 as building #15 in the Morrisville Historic District.

The Morrisville Historic District encompasses most of the historic commercial downtown area of the village of Morrisville in Morristown, Vermont. Developed in the early 19th century as a service town for the surrounding agricultural areas, it was transformed into a major service regional commercial center by the arrive of the railroad in 1872. Its surviving architecture is largely reflective of these two time periods. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and enlarged in 2007.

Morrisville–Stowe State Airport (IATA: MVL, ICAO: KMVL, FAA LID: MVL) is a public airport located two miles (3 km) southwest of the central business district of Morrisville, a village in Lamoille County, Vermont, United States. It is owned by the State of Vermont. The airport had scheduled passenger airline service via Air Vermont in the 1980s. In April 2014, the airport closed for four months of improvements, including rebuilding the runway and lighting; it reopened on August 1, with private company Stowe Aviation operating the facility. The improvements were funded by a $4 million federal grant from the Airport Improvement Project, and made up the first phase of Stowe Aviation's planned upgrades, with $20 million more in private investment to be used to build a new terminal building, maintenance facility, and other supporting infrastructure.Commercial air service resumed in December 2015, when Tradewind Aviation begins service to Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York.

Morristown is a town in Lamoille County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,434. Morristown is the largest town by population in Lamoille County, and its central village of Morrisville serves as the county's main commercial center.

The Lamoille River is a river which runs through northern Vermont and drains into Lake Champlain. It is about 85 miles (137 km) in length, and has a drainage area of around 706 square miles (1,830 km2). The river generally flows southwest, and then northwest, from the water divide of the Green Mountains. It is the namesake of Lamoille County, Vermont, through which it flows. The river was the basis of the name of the now-defunct Lamoille Valley Railroad Company, successor to the St. Johnsbury and Lamoille County Railroad. Legend has it that early French settlers named the river La Mouette, meaning "The Seagull". However, a cartographer forgot to cross the t's, which led people to begin calling it La Moulle. Over time, this became Lamoille, elided in speaking. In July 2023, heavy rains caused flooding on the Lamoille River and on the nearby Winooski River and Missisquoi River.
