South Burlington, Vermont

South Burlington High School (SBHS) is a public secondary school in the suburban municipality of South Burlington, Vermont, United States. The school colors are blue and grey and the nickname is the Wolves. Enrollment in 2013 was 869.

The Chittenden-3-10 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Chittenden-3-10 District includes a section of the Chittenden County city of South Burlington defined as follows: "That portion of the City of South Burlington not contained in Chittenden-3-7, 3-8, or 3-9." (Vermont Statutes, Title 17, Chapter 34, Section 1893a) [1] As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Chittenden-3-10 District had a population of 3,727 in that same census, 8.18% below the state average.

C. Douglas Cairns Recreation Arena, more commonly known as Cairns Arena, is a 600-seat hockey arena in South Burlington, Vermont. It is home to the Saint Michael's College Purple Knights men's and women's ice hockey teams, the University of Vermont club ice hockey team, and a number of high school hockey teams. It was the former home to the Green Mountain Glades Junior A ice hockey team of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, who have since moved operations to Portland, Maine. The Arena comprises two NHL-sized ice rinks, each with a seating capacity of 600, a café, and a pro shop. It also served as a venue for the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship, along with Gutterson Fieldhouse.

The University Mall, often referred to as the U-Mall, is an enclosed shopping mall in South Burlington, Vermont. The name refers to its proximity to the University of Vermont. At 610,693 square feet (56,735 m2), it is the largest shopping mall in Vermont and is one of two enclosed malls in the Burlington metropolitan area. JCPenney, Kohl's, and Target are the anchor stores. It also features an H&M. The mall encompasses 77 shops, including two sit-down restaurants, and a food court. KeyPoint Partners, LLC of Burlington, Massachusetts is the mall's management company.

WOKO (98.9 FM) is an American radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Burlington, Vermont, United States, the station serves the Burlington-Plattsburgh area. The station is owned by Hall Communications

WJOY (1230 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting an adult standards/soft adult contemporary format. Licensed to Burlington, Vermont, the station is owned by Hall Communications, Inc. WJOY carries the nationally syndicated music service "America's Best Music" provided by Westwood One.

Al's French Frys is a restaurant in South Burlington, Vermont, United States. The restaurant was established in 1946 by Al and Genevieve Rusterholz. In 2010 the restaurant was named a "America's Classic" by the James Beard Foundation.

Rice Memorial High School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary and college preparatory school in South Burlington, Vermont. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington. The student body is mostly drawn from Northern and Central Vermont but includes other students including international students. The school and buildings were named for Bishop Joseph Rice who had established Cathedral High School in 1917.

Virtue Field is an on-campus stadium at the University of Vermont. It is home to the Vermont men's and women's lacrosse teams, as well as the men's and women's soccer teams. It will also be the home field for USL League Two expansion side Vermont Green FC, beginning in 2022.The field is made of artificial turf.

Gutterson Fieldhouse (nicknamed "The Gut") is a 4,035-seat hockey arena in Burlington, Vermont. It is home to the Vermont Catamounts men's and women's ice hockey teams. It is the largest indoor arena in the state of Vermont. It is adjacent to Patrick Gymnasium at the school's athletic complex. It is named for Albert Gutterson, class of 1912, the school's first Olympian. He set an Olympic record with a 7.60 meter long jump, beating, among others, the great Jim Thorpe.

The Roy L. Patrick Gymnasium is a 3,228 seat (3,266 for men's and women's basketball) multi-purpose arena in Burlington, Vermont. It was built in 1963 to replace the Old Gymnasium, a then-60-year-old facility now known as the Royall Tyler Theater. It is used mainly as the home arena of the Vermont Catamounts men's and women's basketball teams. It has been the site of the 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022 America East men's basketball tournament championship games, as the higher seed in the final hosts the game. The championship games were all televised on ESPN or ESPN2. Vermont has consistently been among the America East leaders in home attendance and in 2004–05, it became the only America East men's basketball program to sell out every game for an entire season.Patrick Gym is also a concert venue, seating up to 4,000. It can also accommodate conventions and trade shows; there are 22,251 square feet (2,067.2 m2) of arena floor space, with an additional 31,218 square feet (2,900.2 m2) at the indoor track and 36,189 square feet (3,362.1 m2) at the indoor tennis courts, both of which are adjacent to Patrick Gymnasium. The current bleachers at Patrick Gym were installed in 1982, and new lighting and the current floor were installed in 1990. Currently the university has plans to replace the over 50 year old Patrick Gym with a new event center next to Gutterson Fieldhouse. The new arena will have a capacity of 3,200 with a price tag of $80 million. It was announced in December 2018 that the new arena will be named the Tarrant Event Center, in honor of Rich and Deb Tarrant who donated $15 million to the project. The arena was originally intended to be ready for the 2020–21 school year, but construction delays and financial uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic have pushed back the most likely date for completion of the new arena to 2022–23. Once the basketball programs move to the Tarrant Center, Patrick Gym will be converted into a campus recreation facility.

Redstone is a historic former estate on South Prospect Street in Burlington, Vermont. It was developed in 1889, and includes some of Burlington's finest examples of Richardsonian Romanesque, Shingle, and Colonial Revival architecture. Its surviving elements are Redstone Green and some of its surrounding buildings on the campus of the University of Vermont, which acquired the property in 1921, and are part of the university's Redstone Campus. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 as the Redstone Historic District.
