Portela das Cabras, also known as "Portela de Penela", is a former civil parish in the municipality of Vila Verde, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Ribeira do Neiva. It was the seat of an extinct Portuguese municipality, established by King Afonso III. In 1855 it was transformed into a parish of the Vila Verde Municipality. "Portela das cabras" literally means "pass of the goats". The region had many mountain passes and whenever they became inhabited the name "Portela" was to be given to the settlements therein. The parish has an area of 2,34 km² and 256 inhabitants (2001). The population density is 109,4/km². The old Roman road linking Braga to Astorga went through Portela das Cabras. Remains of this road can be found in the parish. Portela das Cabras is located in the drainage basin of the rivers Neiva and Cávado.

Ribeira do Neiva is a civil parish in the municipality of Vila Verde, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Duas Igrejas, Rio Mau, Goães, Godinhaços, Pedregais, Azões and Portela das Cabras. The population in 2011 was 3,807, in an area of 33.76 km2.

The population in 2021 was 46,446, in an area of 228.67 km².Vila Verde's current mayor, as of 26 September 2021, is Júlia Fernandes of the Social Democratic Party. She succeeded António Vilela of the same party. The municipal holiday is 13 June. The county of Vila Verde has a little over 150 years of existence and is one of the biggest counties in the Minho Province.

The Bridge of Prado (Portuguese: Ponte do Prado) is a bridge constructed over the Cávado River, in the civil parish of Vila de Prado, municipality of Vila Verde, in Norte Region, Portugal northern Portugal. Although originally a Roman bridge, it was re-constructed during the 16th century when the original had been destroyed following flooding and consistent use. There are few vestiges of the Roman bridge.

It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Merelim (São Paio), Panoias and Parada de Tibães. The population in 2011 was 5,363, in an area of 5.36 km².The parish is situated on the south bank of the river Cávado, northwest of Braga city centre. Agriculture is very important in Merelim São Paio, a village full of fields of maize and little plantations. However, the agriculturists in Merelim São Paio are getting older and there are few young people following the same way.

The Circuito de Velocidade Vasco Sameiro (also known as Circuit of Braga) is a racing circuit located 6 km (3.7 mi) north of Braga, Portugal at Palmeira. It was constructed in 1990 around the local aerodrome and is 3.021 km (1.877 mi) long. The track runs in an anticlockwise direction. The circuit is owned by the Clube Automóvel do Minho. There is a karting track adjacent to the main track. The karting circuit was used for the Karting World Championship in 2000 and 2005, while the auto racing circuit is used mostly for Portuguese national motorsports. In October 2009 it hosted its first international motorsports event, the fifth running of the annual European Touring Car Cup.
