The Cathedral of Saint Andrew also called Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew (Greek: Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Ανδρέου) or simply Hagios Andreas is a Greek Orthodox basilica in the west side of the city center of Patras in Greece. Along with the nearby old church of St. Andrew (Greek: Παλαιός Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Ανδρέου), it constitutes a place of pilgrimage for Christians from all over the world. It is dedicated to the First-called Apostle of Christ, Saint Andrew.

Agios Andreas (Greek: Άγιος Ανδρέας, meaning "Saint Andrew") is a neighbourhood in the south-central part of the city of Patras, 2 km from the downtown core. Agios Andreas is linked with the Akti Dymaion and the GR-9/E55 (Patras - Pyrgos - Kyparissia) and Korinthou Street. The OSE's SPAP line is 300 m from the old shoreline and 500 m from the new shoreline by the expanded Port of Patras.

Patras Lighthouse (Greek: Φάρος της Πάτρας) is a lighthouse and landmark of the Greek city of Patras. It is situated on the seafront (at the beginning of Trion Navarchon street), opposite the temple of Saint Andrew.

On April 19, 1991, a bomb exploded in the centre of Patras, Greece, killing six citizens and the terrorist who was carrying the bomb.The bomb was carried by Ibrahim Hasikeh, a 26 years old Palestinian terrorist, who allegedly belonged to a group linked to Abu Nidal's network. The target of Hasikeh is believed to be the British consulate, at the junction of Votsi and Othonos Amalias streets. But Hasikeh, either because he wanted to do a final check of the explosive device or because there were people in the consulate who might suspect him or due to some mishandling of the bomb, entered the apartment building on Votsi Street, 14, and headed to the elevator. There, probably trying to change the time of the bomb's explosion, which consisted of 11 kilograms of dynamite, the bomb exploded dismembering Hasikeh and killing six people who were in a company courier on the ground floor of the apartment building. Outside the building was waiting Hasikeh accomplice, Asar Al Nobani, 29, who disappeared after the explosion. The six citizens who were killed due to the explosion were: George Papasotiropoulos, 58, Vassilis Kyriakopoulos, 53, Yannis Kavkas, 25, Olga Stagalinou, 25, Dimitris Seitanidis, 23, and Georgia Verra, 24.Police officers who checked the debris after the explosion found pieces of the Hasikeh student ID and one of his shoes and soon managed to identify him. A few days later they arrested Al Nobani and two other Palestinians, Baykarat and Awad Khalil. In the autumn of 1995, Al Nobani and Baykarat Khalil were sentenced to 25 years in prison while Awad Khalil in three years. The court also ordered their immediate deportation after serving their sentences.Every year on April 19, a memorial service is held in Patras for the six dead from the bomb explosion on Votsi Street.

Georgiou I Square (Greek: Πλατεία Γεωργίου Αʹ) is the central square of Patras, Greece. The square is named after King George I of Greece. It is crossed by Maizonos, Korinthou and Gerokostopoulou streets. The neoclassical Apollon Theatre is situated on the northeast side of the square.

For the theatre in Harlem, see the Apollo Theatre The Apollon Theatre (Greek: θέατρο "Απόλλων Theatro Apollon) is a theatre in Patras, Greece. Designed by the famous German architect Ernst Ziller, it was completed in 1872. The Apollon is located east of Georgiou I Square, one of Patras' popular squares. The theatre is a micrograph of the La Scala in Milan and is the oldest existing enclosed theatre of the same era. The Apollon Theatre has been the main stage of the Patras Municipal and Regional Theatre since 1988, and can hold up to 300 people.

The siege of Patras was one of the first events of the Greek War of Independence. After the outbreak of the revolution, the Greeks under the leadership of the primates of Patras, captured the city and destroyed the Muslim quarter. The Greeks tried to capture also the main fortress of the city. In April, an Ottoman army lifted the siege and destroyed a large part of the city, with Patras remaining under Ottoman control almost until the end of the war (1828). The consul of France in the city at the time was Hugo Pouqueville, brother of François Pouqueville, and for Great Britain Philip James Green.

UoP Racing Team is the first and longest running Greek Formula Student team located in University of Patras. Founded in 2002 and supported throughout the years by the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation, UoP Racing team members design, develop and manufacture high-performance racecars that compete in the Formula Student series around the globe, alongside hundreds of teams from all over the world.

Patras (Greek: Πάτρα, romanized: Pátra pronounced [ˈpatra] ; Katharevousa and Ancient Greek: Πάτραι; Latin: Patrae) is Greece's third-largest city and the regional capital of Western Greece, in the northern Peloponnese, 215 km (134 mi) west of Athens. The city is built at the foot of Mount Panachaikon, overlooking the Gulf of Patras. As of the 2021 census, the city of Patras has a population of 173,600; the municipality has 215,922 inhabitants. The core settlement has a history spanning four millennia. In the Roman period, it had become a cosmopolitan center of the eastern Mediterranean whilst, according to the Christian tradition, it was also the place of Saint Andrew's martyrdom. Dubbed as Greece's 'Gate to the West', Patras is a commercial hub, while its busy port is a nodal point for trade and communication with Italy and the rest of Western Europe. The city has three public universities, hosting a large student population and rendering Patras an important scientific centre with a field of excellence in technological education. The Rio-Antirio Bridge connects Patras' easternmost suburb of Rio to the town of Antirrio, connecting the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece. Every year, in February, the city hosts one of Europe's largest carnivals. Notable features of the Patras Carnival include its mammoth satirical floats and balls and parades, enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors in a Mediterranean climate. Patras is also famous for supporting an indigenous cultural scene active mainly in the performing arts and modern urban literature. It was European Capital of Culture in 2006.

The Barony of Patras was a medieval Frankish fiefdom of the Principality of Achaea, located in the northwestern coast of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, centred on the town of Patras. It was among the twelve original baronies of the Principality of Achaea, but passed into the hands of the Latin Archbishop of Patras at about the middle of the 13th century. From 1337 on, Patras was an ecclesiastical domain de facto independent of the Principality, although the archbishops still recognized its suzerainty for their secular fiefs. The archbishops maintained close relations with the Republic of Venice, which governed the barony in 1408–1413 and 1418. The barony survived until the Byzantine reconquest in 1429–30.

The railway from Piraeus to Patras was a 230-kilometre long metre-gauge railway line in Greece that connected the port of Athens, Piraeus with Patras in the Peloponnese peninsula, via Athens "Peloponnese" central station and Corinth. It was opened between 1884 and 1887. Formerly one of the main lines of the Greek railway network, it has now largely fallen into disuse. It has mostly been replaced by the Athens Airport–Patras railway, a new standard-gauge line whose first section opened in 2004 and which remains under construction between Aigio and Patras. The 13 km section between Piraeus and Agioi Anargyroi, a northern suburb of Athens, has since been removed and replaced by the corresponding section of the upgraded Piraeus–Platy railway. As of 2020, the only sections in operation are the 22.5 km section between Agioi Anargyroi and Eleusis, and the 7.3 km section between Rio and Patras.

Patras railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Πατρών, romanized: Sidirodromikos Stathmos Patron) is a railway station in Patras in the northwestern Peloponnese, Greece. The station is located in the center of the city, beside the north port on Piraeus–Patras line and Patras–Kyparissia line and is severed by both Proastiakos Patras Services. Pending the completion of the Athens Airport–Patras railway, it is also the starting point of TrainOSE bus lines to Aigio, Diakopto and Kiato, where connecting train services to Athens Airport and Piraeus (via Athens central railway station) are available. Diakopto is also the terminus of the unique rack railway to Kalavryta.
