Kalkaska ( kal-KASS-kə) is a village in the U.S. state of Michigan. Kalkaska is the county seat and only incorporated community of Kalkaska County, and is considered part of Northern Michigan. The population was 2,132 at the 2020 census, an increase from 2,020 at the 2010 census. Kalkaska is part of the Traverse City micropolitan area, and is often considered a bedroom community of nearby Traverse City. The town is also renowned for hosting the National Trout Festival, with the first festivities being held in 1935.

Kalkasa City Airport (FAA LID: Y89) is a publicly owned, public-use airport located one mile (1.6 km) southwest of Kalkasa in Kalkaska County, Michigan. The airport sits on 160 acres (65 ha) at an elevation of 1,030 feet (314 m).The airport is the starting point for the Iceman Cometh Challenge bike race, the largest single-day point-to-point bike race in the country. Racers start at Kalkasa Airport, and it takes competitors to Timber Ridge in nearby Traverse City. It is also home to Kalkaska's National Trout Festival as well as a WinterFest.The airport often sees coast guard training missions from the base at the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City. Training missions are often open to the public so that community residents can observe the operations and interact with crewmembers and aircraft.

The Little Rapid River is a 4.6-mile-long (7.4 km) stream in Kalkaska County, Michigan, in the United States. It is a tributary of the Rapid River, part of the Elk River Chain of Lakes Watershed flowing to Lake Michigan.

Lake Five also has abundant land fauna including black bear, white-tailed deer, garter snake, midland brown snake (Storeria dekayi wrightorum), red fox, beaver and wild turkey.
