On 1 January 2018, it had a population of 13,886. The municipality consists of the following districts: Blicquy, Chapelle-à-Oie, Chapelle-à-Wattines, Gallaix, Grandmetz, Leuze-en-Hainaut, Pipaix, Thieulain, Tourpes, and Willaupuis.

The municipality is named after the château of Belœil, once the seat of Charles-Joseph, Prince of Ligne, a military officer and man of letters who corresponded with Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire.

The Château de Belœil is a château situated in the municipality of Belœil in the province of Hainaut, Wallonia, Belgium. It serves as the main residence of the princes of Ligne. The château lies in the middle of a Baroque garden designed in 1664. The château and gardens can be visited during spring and summer.

Péruwelz (French pronunciation: [peʁwe] or [pɛʁwe]; Picard: Piérwé [pieʀwe]; Walloon: Perwé-e-Hinnot) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. On 1 January 2018 Péruwelz had a total population of 17,113. The total area is 60.56 km2 which gives a population density of 280 inhabitants per km2. This municipality is more specifically situated in Western Hainaut, also called Picardy Wallonia. Péruwelz is also near France, near the cities of "Condé-sur-l'Escaut", "Vieux Condé", "Hergnies", and is near the forest of Bon-Secours, the location of the castle of (l')Hermitage.

The Sainte-Barbe Clays Formation is a geological formation in Belgium. It is found in localised areas of the northern margin of the Mons Basin, alongside the equivalently aged Hautrage and Baudour Clay Formations. It is Upper Barremian-Lower Aptian in age. It predominantly consists of laminated clay, with some lignite. It is well known for the "Iguanodon sinkhole" locality near Bernissart where many specimens of Iguanodon bernissartensis were described by Louis Dollo in the late 19th century.

On January 1, 2006, Bernissart had a total population of 11,458. The total area is 43.42 km², which gives a population density of 264 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Blaton, Bernissart, Harchies, Pommerœul, and Ville-Pommerœul.

Frasnes-lez-Buissenal is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. In 1864, foresters digging out the roots of a tree near the village unearthed the Frasnes Hoard.

Ormeignies is a village of Wallonia and district of the municipality of Ath, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. It has an ancient history. Farmers in Neolithic time were settled there, as far back as 4000 BC. The village church, dedicated to Saint Ursmer and built from stone and brick c.1780, is a good example of neo-classical architecture.
