The Castle of Alfeizerão (Portuguese: Castelo de Aljustrel), is a Portuguese medieval castle in civil parish of Alfeizerão, in the municipality of Alcobaça, in the district of Leiria.

Salir do Porto is a former civil parish in the municipality of Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Tornada e Salir do Porto. The civil parish has an area of 9.86 square kilometres (3.81 sq mi) and had a population of 797 at the 2011 census.Salir do Porto was the northernmost parish of the municipality of Caldas da Rainha. It has a beach with a famous sand dune almost 49 metres high. The beach is located by the river Tornada that flows into the São Martinho bay. There are other beaches on the ocean side. Those are rock beaches that the locals call quebradas. Salir has three different communities: Salir do Porto, Casais de Salir do Porto and Bouro. Salir is served by the Oeste railroad.

Alfeizerão is a freguesia ("civil parish") in the municipality of Alcobaça, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 3,854, in an area of 27.99 km2.

Famalicão is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Nazaré. The population in 2011 was 1,740, in an area of 21.72 km².

Tornada e Salir do Porto is one of twelve civil parishes (freguesias) in the municipality of Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Tornada and Salir do Porto. The population in 2011 was 4,358, in an area of 29.53 km².

Igreja de São Gião is a medieval church in Famalicão, a parish of Nazaré, in the district of Leiria, Portugal. It was discovered by Eduíno Borges Garcia in 1961 and is regarded as one of the oldest temples in Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula. It is classified as a National Monument. It was initially presumed to be built by the Visigoths (7th century), but more recent works have given it Asturian origins (10th century) due to its similarity to some Asturian temples.

Serra do Bouro is a former civil parish in the municipality of Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Caldas da Rainha — Santo Onofre e Serra do Bouro. The civil parish had an area of 18.21 square kilometres (7.03 sq mi) and had a population of 703 at the 2011 census. It the least populous freguesia of the municipality. Localities (lugares) within Serra do Bouro include Cidade, Cabeço da Vela, Casais Antunes, Casais da Boavista, Casais da Cidade, Casais da Espinheira, Casal do Celão, Espinheira, Granja, Zambujeiro. Serra do Bouro has cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Principal activities of the inhabitants include agriculture and civil construction. Serra do Bouro once belonged to the municipality of Óbidos, but the freguesia was transferred to Caldas da Rainha as this latter municipality developed economically. Two other freguesias of Caldas da Rainha were once part of Serra do Bouro, but were elevated to the status of freguesia themselves: Foz do Arelho in 1919 and Nadadouro in 1957.

The Alcoa (Portuguese pronunciation: [alˈkoɐ]) is a river of Portugal, flowing into the Atlantic Ocean. It rises in the municipality of Alcobaça and flows into the ocean near Nazaré. The river section below the confluence with its tributary Baça is also referred to as Alcobaça.

German submarine U-965 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered on 5 June 1941, and was laid down on 4 May 1942 at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, as yard number 165. She was launched on 14 January 1943 and commissioned under the command of Oberleutnant zur See Klaus Ohling on 25 February 1943.
