Hill 'n' Dale Farms is a thoroughbred race horse breeding farm with operations in Canada and the United States.

The Bates Log House, also known as "Bates House", at 5143 Spurr Rd. in Lexington, Kentucky, was built around 1800. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.According to its 1982 National Register nomination, it was deemed significant as: an outstanding example of a log structure especially in that the two wings of the house are also constructed of log. The relatively unaltered state of this building with its asymmetrical composition makes it unique. It was built in three sections, each at a different time, although all in a relatively short span of time. There were very few log structures of this size built in this area, as owners would often abandon their log structures for a new brick building or make additions in other materials other than log. As was the custom, the house was covered in clapboard probably fairly early, which has kept the logs in a good state of repair. The size and the remaining original fabric of this building put it into a singular category within the architectural history of central Kentucky. Its architecture includes elements of Greek Revival (including in its main fireplace's mantel) and Gothic style.In 1982, it was planned that the structure would be renovated to serve as a guest house.The University of Kentucky holds color transparency/photo images of the house taken by Carolyn Murray-Wooley.

The Federal Medical Center, Lexington (FMC Lexington) is a United States federal prison in Kentucky for male or female inmates requiring medical or mental health care. It is designated as an administrative facility, which means that it holds inmates of all security classifications. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice. The facility also has an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp for female inmates. FMC Lexington is located 7 miles (11 km) north of Lexington and 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Frankfort, the state capital.

High Security Unit (HSU) was a "control" unit for women within the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. In the less than two years that the HSU was operational it became a focus of national and international concern over human rights abuses. It was opened in 1986 by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). This special unit of 16 isolation cells was sealed off in a basement from the other prisoners. Reports from different human rights organization including Amnesty International brought the attention to the existence of the unit and the inhumane treatment of prisoners.

Idle Hour Stock Farm was a 400-acre (1.6 km2) thoroughbred horse breeding and training farm near Lexington, Kentucky, United States established in 1906 by Colonel Edward R. Bradley. Beginning with the sire, Black Toney, and a roster of quality broodmares, Idle Hour Farm bred great champions such as the 1929 Horse of the Year Blue Larkspur and the Champion Three-Year-Old Colt, Bimelech. In 1931, the farm acquired the mare La Troienne from noted French breeder Marcel Boussac. La Troienne became one of the most influential mares to be imported into the U.S. in the 20th century. Her offspring produced champions including Idle Hour Farm's Bimlech, and its own two-year-old Champion Filly of 1944 and the 1945 Horse of the Year, Busher who was sold to movie mogul Louis B. Mayer. Later generation champions such as Buckpasser and Easy Goer trace their line to La Troienne. As well, under farm manager Olin B. Gentry and future Hall of Fame trainer "Derby Dick" Thompson, and later trainer Bill Hurley, the farm raced horses that won numerous major stakes races, including multiple winners in each of the U.S. Triple Crown events. As part of a program honoring important horse racing tracks and racing stables, the Pennsylvania Railroad named its baggage car #5846 the "Idle Hour Stock Farm". After Colonel Bradley's death in 1946, Ogden Phipps purchased a group of Idle Hour's bloodstock that became the basis for what became Phipps' major horse racing operation. Allen T. Simmons purchased Idle Hour Farm at auction and the property was divided into smaller parcels. The portion on the southern side of Old Frankfort Pike was purchased by King Ranch while a southern parcel was sold to Dan and Ada Rice and became a satellite operation of their Danada Farm in Wheaton, Illinois. The core of the farm, on the north side of Old Frankfort Pike, was bought by Edward S. Moore who called it Circle M Farm. Moore owned it for only a short time before selling it to the John W. Galbreath family in 1949 who renamed it Darby Dan Farm. McConnells Trace is a neighborhood in northwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Leestown Road to the east, Town Branch Creek to the west, the Bracktown neighborhood to the north, and White Oak neighborhood to the south. McConnells Trace development began in 2001, so no neighborhood statistics from the 2000 census are available for it.

The University Club of Kentucky, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a semi-private golf course privately licensed by University of Kentucky. The course is the official home of the university's men's and women's golf teams and serves as the host site for all of UK's tournaments. The current setup was designed by famed golf course architect Arthur Hills. The facility consists of two separate eighteen hole courses (thirty-six in total). Featuring the Big Blue Course (72-par, 7,018 yards) and the Wildcat Course (72-par, 6,680 yards), these landscapes are complemented by a dozen lakes and ponds, providing players with a beautiful and challenging round of golf.

Masterson Station is a neighborhood in northwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Masterson Station Park on the west, Leestown Road to the south, Greendale Road to the east, and Spurr Road to the north.

Blackburn Correctional Complex (BCC) is a minimum-security state prison located near Lexington, Kentucky. It opened in 1972 and had a prison population of 594 as of 2007.It is named for former Kentucky governor Luke P. Blackburn, who is known as the "father of prison reform in Kentucky."

Hurricane Hall was built in the 1790s in Fayette County, Kentucky by David Laughed on the Lexington-Georgetown Pike in what is now a part of Lexington. Architecture historian Clay Lancaster describes it as "the most engaging residence in Fayette County". The home is included in the National Register of Historic Places listings in Fayette County, Kentucky.It was purchased in 1803 by Colonel Roger Quarles. Quarles with his wife, Jane Rodes Thomson Quarles and their two children came from Virginia. Colonel Quarles was a gentleman farmer. The Fayette County Kentucky tax list in 1826 listed 1,563 acres (633 ha), 30 slaves, 33 horses and 1 pleasure carriage.The front door opens into a 15-foot-wide hall (4.6 m). Notable decorative features were the French scenic wallpaper in the parlor and hallway, installed to commemorate the wedding of the Quarles' daughter, Sarah Anna Eliza Quarles to William Z. Thomson in 1817. The wallpaper was later taken down, with snippets of the wallpaper becoming framed and hung in the parlor. Quarles Grandson, Patrick Henry Thomson inherited the house in 1856. P. H. Thomson maintained a private school on the estate. The Thomsons had 12 children, and it is said the children ran through the house like a hurricane. Hence, the name Hurricane Hall.The home remained in the Quarles-Thomson family until 1962. It is now a thoroughbred breeding operation within what is now Lexington.

WLXG (1300 AM) is a sports formatted broadcast radio station affiliated with ESPN Radio. WLXG is licensed to Lexington, Kentucky, United States, and serves the Lexington and Frankfort area. It is owned and operated by L.M. Communications, Inc. The station's studios are located at Triangle Center in downtown Lexington, and its transmitter is located in the northwest part of Lexington.

The Redd Road Rural Historic District is a 1,646 acres (666 ha) historic district in Fayette County, Kentucky and Woodford County, Kentucky which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It is an area largely south and east of the junction of Redd and Frankfort Roads, and included 39 contributing buildings, 10 contributing structures, and 11 contributing sites.It consists of seven adjoining farmsteads.
