Stow Bardolph

Wimbotsham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated close to the River Great Ouse, 2 km (1.2 mi) north of the town of Downham Market, 18 km (11 mi) south of the town of King's Lynn, and 60 km (37 mi) west of the city of Norwich. It covers an area of 6.04 km2 (2.33 sq mi) and had a population of 558 in 262 households at the 2001 census, the population including Bexwell and increasing to 664 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The villages name means 'Winebaud's homestead/village' or 'Winebaud's hemmed-in land'. It has a primary school, a local shop and a public house called "The Chequers". Also located in the village are two churches: the Church of St Mary and the Wimbotsham Methodist Church.

Royal Air Force Downham Market, or more simply RAF Downham Market, was a Royal Air Force station in the west of the county of Norfolk, England which operated during the second half of the Second World War.

Downham Town Football Club is a football club based in Downham Market, Norfolk, England. Affiliated to the Norfolk County Football Association, they are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division and play at Memorial Field.

Bexwell is a small village and former civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is located within the parish of Ryston and is located 1.24 miles (2 kilometres) from Downham Market.

Downham Market Academy (formerly Downham Market High School) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, situated in Downham Market, Norfolk, England. The academy was launched on 1 July 2013, sponsored by the CWA Academy Trust founded by the College of West Anglia. Downham Market Academy is currently rated "Good" across all categories, based on the 2022 Ofsted inspection. Teaching is shared between two sites, with the main Bexwell campus housing pupils years 7–11 (ages 11–16) and the Downham Market Academy Sixth Form (formerly Downham Market College) campus offering A-levels to sixth form pupils years 12–13 (ages 16–18). Downham market academy sixth form (Now known as Athena six form) is officially part of the school and attached to the building.

Downham Market, sometimes simply referred to as Downham, is a market town and civil parish in Norfolk, England. It lies on the edge of the Fens, on the River Great Ouse, approximately 11 miles south of King's Lynn, 39 miles west of Norwich and 30 miles north of Cambridge. The civil parish has an area of 5.2 km² and in the 2011 census had a population of 9,994 in 4,637 households. It was an agricultural centre, developing as a market for the produce of the Fens with a bridge across the Ouse. During the Middle Ages, it was famed for its butter market and also hosted a notable horse fair. The market is now held Fridays and Saturdays. Notable buildings in the town include its medieval parish church, dedicated to St Edmund, and the Victorian clock tower, constructed in 1878. The town is also known as the place where Charles I hid after the Battle of Naseby. In 2004 the town completed a regeneration project on the Market Place, moving the market to the town hall car park. The decorative town sign depicts the crown and arrows of St Edmund with horses to show the importance of the horse fairs in the town's history. A heritage centre, Discover Downham, opened in a former fire station in 2016. The town is twinned with Civray, Vienne, France.

Runcton Holme is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 13.89 km2 (5.36 sq mi) and had a population of 676 in 288 households at the 2001 census, the population reducing to 657 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The civil parish includes South Runcton. The villages name means 'Pole farm/settlement on an island', perhaps denoting a trackway or an enclosed settlement. The parish church of St James, Runcton Holme, is a Grade I listed building. St Andrew's in South Runcton is Grade II*.

Stowbridge or Stow Bridge is a village in the parish of Stow Bardolph, extending into Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen, in the English county of Norfolk. The parish of Stow Bardolph also includes Barroway Drove. Stowbridge is between Downham Market and King's Lynn on the banks of the River Great Ouse. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The Great Ouse, the Relief Channel and the mainline railway from King's Lynn to Cambridge run through the heart of the community.

Saint Dominic's Church in Downham Market is the parish church serving the Roman Catholic population of Downham Market and the surrounding areas of Norfolk. First opened in 1941, the church was finally fully consecrated upon receiving its stone altar in 2006. The parish received national attention in the 1970s when the then parish priest, Fr Oswald Baker, refused to adopt the new vernacular setting of the Mass. The parish is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia.

Stow Bardolph railway station, in the parish of Stow Bardolph, Norfolk, served the villages of Stow Bardolph and Stowbridge. It closed in 1963. The Lynn & Ely Railway Bill received the Royal Assent on 30 June 1845. Work started on the line in 1846 and the line and its stations were opened on 27 October 1846. Stow Station opened with the line and was situated South of Holme Gate Station and north of Downham Station. The line ran from Ely to Downham, the eventual destination being Ely.

Downham Market Town Hall is a municipal building in Bridge Street, Downham Market, Norfolk, England. The structure, which is managed by Downham Market Town Council, is a Grade II listed building.

Crimplesham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east of the small town of Downham Market, 12 miles (19 km) south of the larger town of King's Lynn, and 37 miles (60 km) west of the city of Norwich.[1]
