Hanazono Station (Kyoto)

Hōkongō-in (法金剛院) is a Buddhist temple in Ukyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is affiliated with Risshū (Buddhism). It was founded in 1130.

Taizō-in (退蔵院) is the oldest sub-temple (tatchū (塔頭)) of the Myōshin-ji Rinzai Zen Buddhist temple, situated in the northwest of Kyoto, Japan. It was founded by Zen priest Muinsoin in 1404. The original temple buildings were burned during the Ōnin War (1467-1477), and were later rebuilt. Taizō-in is well known for its two gardens. The main garden, Motonobu-no-niwa, is a traditional Japanese dry landscape garden (karesansui), containing several angular rocks suggesting the cliffs of the island of Hōrai, with smaller stones suggesting a stream. The planting is mostly evergreen, including camellia, pine, and Japanese umbrella pine. It covers 50 tsubo (170 m²) and was designed to integrate a borrowing of scenery ("shakkei") of a view of Narabigaoka Hill in the distance. It is thought to be the final work of Muromachi painter Kanō Motonobu (狩野 元信), reproducing one of his paintings in three dimensions. A new pond garden, or yoko-en, was designed by Kinsaku Nakane in 1963–1966. The new garden is large enough for visitors to walk in, and contains azaleas and a stream that cascades along the main axis, directly toward the main viewing position. The stream flows around rocks, gradually widening until it empties into a pool in front of the viewer. Taizō-in holds one of Japan's oldest ink paintings, Catching catfish with a gourd (紙本墨画淡彩瓢鮎図, hyōnen-zu), c.1413, by Josetsu (如拙), which is a National Treasure of Japan. It is identified as a turning point in Muromachi painting, and represents a Zen koan.

Myōshin-ji (妙心寺, Myōshin-ji) is a temple complex in Kyoto, Japan, and head temple of the associated branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism. The Myōshin-ji school is by far the largest school in Rinzai Zen, approximately as big as the other thirteen branches combined: it contains within it about 3,400 temples throughout Japan, together with a handful overseas, of the approximately six thousand total Rinzai temples, and also has nineteen associated monasteries, of the total of forty monasteries and one nunnery.

Shunkō-in (春光院, Temple of the Ray of Spring Light) is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan and belongs to the Myōshin-ji (Temple of Excellent Mind) school, which is the largest among 14 Japanese Rinzai Zen Buddhist schools. The temple was established in 1590 by Horio Yoshiharu, who was a feudal lord, or daimyō, of Matsue in present-day Shimane Prefecture. This temple houses important historical objects that reflect the multifaceted religious and artistic atmosphere in Japan from the sixteenth century onward.

Tōrin-in (東林院, Tōrin-in, East Woods Cloister) is a sub-temple of the temple complex of Myōshin-ji in Kyoto, Japan. As such, it is affiliated with the Myōshin-ji school of Rinzai Zen Buddhism.

Kyoto University of Advanced Science (京都先端科学大学, Kyōto sentan kagaku daigaku, KUAS), formerly Kyoto Gakuen University, is a private university located in Ukyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. Originally founded as a trade school in 1925 and incorporated in 1969, KUAS was refounded in 2019 under the leadership of Shigenobu Nagamori. Its two campuses are located in Ukyō-ku, Kyoto City, and Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture. The university is organized into five faculties and five graduate schools. The undergraduate faculties include the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Bioenvironmental Science, the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and the Faculty of Engineering. The graduate schools include the Graduate School of Economics, the Graduate School of Business Administration, the Graduate School of Human Culture, the Graduate School of Bioenvironmental Science, and the Graduate School of Engineering. In 2020, the university's Faculty of Engineering began to offer programs taught entirely in English, signaling a shift towards internationalization and English-medium education.
