The Prudential Tower (プルデンシャルタワー) is a skyscraper located in Nagatachō, Tokyo, Japan. It contains offices, residences, and shops, with 38 floors above ground and a total floor area of 76,634 square meters. It is situated on the Sotobori-dōri trunk road, near the National Diet Building and other central government institutions, including the Prime Minister's Official Residence.Floors 26–38 of this mixed-use building are residential, floors 3–24 offices, and the bottom floors retail space. The building can be accessed from five subway lines through the Tokyo Metro stations Akasaka-mitsuke and Nagatachō.

It is the 8th highest building of the ward, after the Shin-Marunouchi Building, JP Tower, GranTokyo, etc. The building stands over Tameike-Sannō Station which is served by the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line (G06), Tokyo Metro Namboku Line (N06) and linked to Kokkai-gijidō-mae Station (M14) on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line.

The super high-rise is a result of the "Akasaka 5-chome TBS Development Project" into the Akasaka Sacas (赤坂サカス) complex together with the TBS Broadcasting Center, the Akasaka Blitz music venue, and the Akasaka ACT Theater. It is home to the headquarters of Hakuhodo, Inpex and Tokyo Electron.

The Prime Minister's Official Residence is the official workplace and residence of the Prime Minister of Japan. It is commonly referred to as Sōri Daijin Kantei (総理大臣官邸), Shushō Kantei (首相官邸), or simply Kantei (官邸). The Supreme Court of Japan is located in neighboring Hayabusachō. Nagatachō is often used to refer to the elected Japanese government, while Kasumigaseki refers to the unelected bureaucratic administration. During the Edo period, the area surrounding Hibiya High School and Embassy of Mexico was samurai residences of Kishiwada Domain.

The Aoikan (葵館) was a movie theater in the Tameike section of Akasaka in Tokyo, Japan. It existed from the mid–1910s as a high-class foreign film theater, featuring benshi such as Musei Tokugawa. After the Great Kanto earthquake, it re-opened in October 1924 with a new, modern design created by prominent avant-garde artists. Seisaku Yoshikawa was in charge of architectural design, Yasuji Ogishima did the sculptural reliefs on the front of the building, and Tomoyoshi Murayama designed the interior. Murayama also did the cover illustrations for the theater's pamphlets in the first few years.Film scholars such as Kenji Iwamoto have noted this theater's significance in Japanese cinematic modernism of the 1920s and 1930s.

The May 15 Incident (五・一五事件, Goichigo Jiken) was an attempted coup d'état in the Empire of Japan, on May 15, 1932, launched by reactionary elements of the Imperial Japanese Navy, aided by cadets in the Imperial Japanese Army and civilian remnants of the ultranationalist League of Blood (Ketsumei-dan). Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi was assassinated by 11 young naval officers. The following trial and popular support of the Japanese population led to extremely light sentences for the assassins, strengthening the rising power of Japanese militarism and weakening democracy and the rule of law in the Empire of Japan.
