Grochów

Praga-South (Polish: Praga-Południe, Polish pronunciation: [ˈpraɡa pɔˈwudɲɛ]) is a district of Warsaw located on the east bank of the Vistula River. It consists of Grochów, Gocław, Kamionek and Saska Kępa.

Grochowska Street is a major road located in the Praga Południe district of Warsaw, Poland. Since November 1, 1925, a tram route has run along Grochowska Street. Currently trams and many bus lines connect Praga with Śródmieście, Wola, Rembertów and Wawer.

Kamionek, is a neighbourhood in Warsaw, located on the right bank of the Vistula river. Formerly a village, in the 19th century, with the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in this part of the Russian Empire, it was transformed into a textile industry center. Today it is part of Praga Południe, and most of its factories closed after the fall of the communism in Poland. It borders the Park Skaryszewski and Kamionek Lake to the south, Grochów to the east, and Praga to the north. During the November Uprising in 1831, the cemetery in Kamionek was the primary location where fallen soldiers of the Russian Army were buried.

Gocław is a subdistrict in Praga-Południe, in south-east Warsaw with a population of over 50.000 inhabitants.

The Józef Poliński Park is an urban park in Warsaw, Poland. It is located in the neighbourhood of Grochów, within the disctict of Praga-South, at the crossing of Garwolińska Street and Szaserów Street. The park was opened in 1962

Central Military Library (CBW) is the main library of Poland Ministry of National Defense located in Warsaw. In 2009, she was awarded the Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture.

The Home Army Praga Subdistrict Park is an urban park in Warsaw, Poland. It is located in the neighbourhood of Kamionek, within the district of Praga-South, between Grochowska Street, Podskarbińska Street, Kobielska Street, and Weterynaryjna Street. The park was opened in 1953.

Olszynka Grochowska is a subdistrict located in northern part of Praga-Południe, in south-east Warsaw. The subdistrict is mostly a forest area. Home to a nature reserve. Railway station is also located here. The area is commonly recognised due to the Battle of Olszynka Grochowska which took place on 25 February 1831 during the November Uprising.

Warszawa Olszynka Grochowska railway station is a railway station in the Praga Południe district of Warsaw, Poland. As of 2012, it is served by Koleje Mazowieckie, who run the KM7 services from Warszawa Zachodnia to Dęblin and by Szybka Kolej Miejska, who run the S1 services from Pruszków PKP to Otwock.

The Battle of Olszynka Grochowska was fought on 25 February 1831 in the woods near Grochów, on the eastern outskirts of Warsaw. The Polish army, commanded by Józef Chłopicki, succeeded in preventing its Russian counterpart, under Hans Karl von Diebitsch, from crushing the uprising. However, the battle has also been described as an inconclusive bloodbath.

SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities or simply SWPS University (Polish: SWPS Uniwersytet Humanistycznospołeczny) is a private non-profit university in Poland established in 1996 by three psychology professors, Andrzej Eliasz, Zbigniew Pietrasiński and Janusz Reykowski. SWPS University is one of the largest private universities in Poland with a community of over 14,000 students at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, including over 1,200 international students from more than 60 countries. The university has five campuses, located in major Polish cities, including Warsaw, Wrocław, Sopot, Poznań, and Katowice.The institution was formerly known as the Warsaw School of Social Psychology (Szkoła Wyższa Psychologii Społecznej, SWPS). It was granted university status under Polish law in 2015.

The Railway Institute (Polish: Instytut Kolejnictwa) is a research institute located in Warsaw, Poland. The Railway Institute (formerly Railway Scientific and Technical Centre (CNTK)) is operating under the Polish Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy (former Polish Ministry of Infrastructure), and is notified under EU Railway Directive 2008/57/CE concerning railway interoperability. The Railway Institute, operating for 60 years in the transport sector, mainly in the rail sector, conducts scientific and research works, as well as services (including calibration of universal masters and measuring instruments) and performs certification works in the fields of railways and urban rail transport. The Railway Institute owns a test track for conducting various experiments and also possesses the necessary infrastructure for R&D studies in the field of railway transport. The Railway Institute is a Notified Body under the Interoperability of the Railway System Directive NB 1467.
