Götschetal-Petersberg was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was situated north of Halle (Saale). The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Götschetal. It was disbanded in January 2010. Götschetal was a short-lived municipality in the district Saalekreis, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was created in July 2006 by the merger of the former municipalities Wallwitz, Gutenberg, Nehlitz, Sennewitz and Teicha. On 1 January 2010, it was absorbed into the municipality Petersberg.

The Brandberge is a protected natural area in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, in the northwest of Halle. It is part of the Naturpark Unteres Saaletal, a protected landscape area which extends along the River Saale from Halle to Nienburg. In the past it has been used for military exercises and winter sports; during the Nazi era, the first official Thingplatz arena was built there.

The Röt Formation or Rötton Formation (German for Röt Shale), or Upper Buntsandstein, is a geologic formation of the Buntsandstein in Germany. It preserves fossils dating back to the Middle Triassic Epoch (Anisian or Aegean or Bithynian in the regional stratigraphy). The formation overlies the Plattenstein and Solling Formations and is overlain by the Jena Formation.The limestones, mudstones, shales and sandstones of the formation, deposited in a shallow marine environment, have provided fossils of early archosaurs, temnospondyls, fish and insects.

Kröllwitz is a village and locality (Ortsteil) in the West borough (Stadtbezirk West) of Halle (Saale). It is located in the German state Saxony-Anhalt.

Giebichenstein Castle (German: Burg Giebichenstein) is a castle in Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is part of the Romanesque Road (Strasse der Romanik).Being a Burgward in the 9th century, the castle became a royal residence of Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor, who gave it to the Archbishopric of Magdeburg which he had established in 968. Halle had practically reached a state of political autonomy in 1263. The same happened with Magdeburg and when the archbishops finally left Magdeburg, after a series of conflicts with the ever more powerful city council, Giebichenstein Castle became their principal residence in 1382, which it remained until the archbishops moved into the newly built Moritzburg (Halle) in 1503.The lower castle (German: Unterburg) is one of the two campuses of the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle (Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design).

Giebichenstein is a district (Stadtteil) in the north of Halle (Saale) on the eastern bank of the river Saale in the Saxony-Anhalt state of Germany. It is part of the Stadtbezirk Nord.

The Petersberg, at 250.4 m above sea level (NN), is the highest point in the district of Saalekreis in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Its name is derived from St. Peter's Church, which is on the hill. Until the 14th century the Petersberg was known as the Lauterberg.
