Fienstedt

Schochwitz is a village and a former municipality in the district Saalekreis, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it has been part of the municipality Salzatal. The historical Schochwitz castle, the most important landmark in the village, where Crusaders left to fight and witches were burned in the Middle Ages, is now a meditation and spiritual center attracting visitors from all over the world, and is owned by Countess Ingrid Zerfowski and her husband Lord Jimmy Welsh.

The Schochwitz castle, located in Schochwitz, Germany (17 km from Halle (Saale) in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt) was built in the 12th century. Today it serves as a hotel. Earliest sources mention a castle about 1133 in conjunction with Odalricus de Scochwize who was the owner of the castle. Later the castle was owned by Friedrich von Merseburg, a clergymen. In 1565 the dynasty von der Schulenburg inherited the castle. Between 1601 and 1606 a renaissance castle was built at the site under the reign of Lewin von der Schulenburg. Gebhart von Alvensleben purchased Schochwitz castel in 1783 and it remained in that family's possession. The last owner was Ludolf-Hermann von Alvensleben. After the war, the castle came into state possession. It was purchased in 2004 by Richard James Welsh, renovated, and turned into a holistic healing center.

Wettin is a small town belonging to the municipality of Wettin-Löbejün in the Saale District of Saxony-Anhalt (Saxony-Ascania), Germany. It is situated on the River Saale, just north of Halle. It is known for Wettin Castle (German: Burg or Schloss Wettin), the ancestral seat of the House of Wettin, the former ruling dynasty of Saxony, Poland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Bulgaria. The town and its name are of Slavic origin.

Wettin Castle is a former castle that stood near the town of Wettin on the Saale river in Germany, and which is the ancestral home of the House of Wettin, the dynasty that included several royal families, including that of the current ruling families of the United Kingdom and Belgium.In 982, Dedo I (d. 1009) and Frederick (d. 1017), sons of Theodoric I of Wettin, perhaps count of Hassegau, received lands taken from the Wends, including the county (or Gau) of Wettin on the right bank of the Saale. There is a legend that the family is descended from one Wettekind, but this can not be attested in any history. At least one reference claims that the castle was built by a descendant of Dietrich named Thimo.That castle is a rebuilt ruin, used as part of a building that houses a school and other public institutions but other castles owned by the Wettin family, from the 15th century, still exist in Meissen, and on the Elbe river.

Kloschwitz is a village and a former municipality in the district Saalekreis, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality Salzatal.

Döblitz is a village and a former municipality in the Saalekreis district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2011, it has been part of the town of Wettin-Löbejün. Its historical and cultural society Förderverein Kultur und Geschichte Döblitz e.V. volunteers in preserving an old Romanesque church to maintain the cultural heritage and to offer cultural events to the community and to the region throughout the year.

Zappendorf is a village and a former municipality in the district Saalekreis, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality Salzatal.

Westlicher Saalkreis ("Western Saale district") was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the Saalekreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was situated west of Halle (Saale). The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Salzmünde. It was disbanded on 1 January 2010. Salzatal is a municipality in the Saalekreis district, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was formed on 1 January 2010 by the merger of the former municipalities Beesenstedt, Bennstedt, Fienstedt, Höhnstedt, Kloschwitz, Lieskau, Salzmünde, Schochwitz and Zappendorf.
