Stapelburg

The Stapelburg (German: Burg Stapelburg) is a ruined mediæeval castle built to guard the road on the northern edge of the Harz mountains at Stapelburg in the district of Harz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.

Eckertal is a hamlet of about 160 inhabitants in Bad Harzburg in Lower Saxony, Germany.

The Ilsenburg Factory is a protected historical monument in Ilsenburg in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. The building complex is from around 1840 and was the seat of the upper Administration of the princely smelting works. Today, the buildings are used as residences. In neoclassical style, the building material was Rogenstein (a term describing a specific type of oolite in which the cementing matter is argillaceous). The four buildings are each two stories, arranged around a courtyard. Except for the northern house, where the facades are unpaved.

Ilsenburg (Harz) was a Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft was in Ilsenburg. Ilsenburg (German: [ˈɪlzn̩ˌbʊʁk] ) is a town in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. It is situated under the north foot of the Harz Mountains, at the entrance to the Ilse valley with its little river, the Ilse, a tributary of the Oker, about six 6 miles (9.7 km) north-west of the town of Wernigerode. It received town privileges in 1959. Owing to its surrounding of forests and mountains as well as its position on the edge of the Harz National Park, Ilsenburg is a popular tourist resort. Since 2002, it is officially an air spa.

Ilsenburg House (German: Schloss Ilsenburg) stands in the town of Ilsenburg (Harz) in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt and was given its present appearance in the 2nd half of the 19th century. The structure was built from 1860 onwards on the west and north sides of the Romanesque monastery of Ilsenburg Abbey. The stately home, designed in the Neo-Romanesque style, was the seat of the princes of Stolberg-Wernigerode until 1945. Since 2005, it has been owned by the Ilsenburg Abbey Foundation. In the future it is intended to make use of the house, together with the surviving, medieval cloisters (Klausurgebäude) of the monastery, as an art and cultural centre with overnight accommodation as well as a restaurant open to the public.

Ilsenburg Abbey (German: Kloster Ilsenburg) was a monastery of the Benedictine Order located at Ilsenburg near Wernigerode, in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. The former abbey is a stop on the Romanesque Road.

Abbenrode is a village and a former municipality in the district of Harz, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it has been part of the municipality of Nordharz. The village is situated north of the Harz mountain range, near the Ecker creek and the border with the state of Lower Saxony. The Abbenrode manor, possibly named after a first settler called Abbo, arose in the medieval Duchy of Saxony and was first mentioned as Abbenrot in an 1129 deed issued by King Lothair III of Germany. About 1145 Bishop Rudolf of Halberstadt established a monastery of Benedictine nuns here. His foundation received the confirmation by Pope Eugene III in 1148. The abbey was devastated during the 1525 German Peasants' War and finally dissolved under the rule of the Protestant Halberstadt administrator Sigismund of Brandenburg in 1554. The present-day parish church, dedicated to Saint Andrew, was consecrated in 1575. After World War II the village became isolated and decayed owing to its location close to the inner-German border. Since German reunification Abbenrode has recovered.

The Bäumlersklippe is a crag and one of the so-called Harzklippen (Harz rock formations) in the Harz National Park southwest of Ilsenburg. The crag was restored as a travel destination in 2019. Specifically, an information board and bench were installed and the outlook railing was restored. The Borkenkäferpfad (Bark beetle path) connects Ilsenburg to the crag and other points in the Harz rock formations.It has been recommended by several travel guides, especially noted for its expansive views.The crag derives its name from a hunter, Bäumler. He is supposed to have stabbed and killed his only son out of jealousy and then thrown himself off this rock to his death. This legendary family drama was picked up on by Theodor Fontane and used in his story, Ellernklipp.

The Butterberg is a hill, about 280 m above sea level (NN) high, in the county of Harz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.

The Ahlsburg or Alerdestein was an Imperial castle near Stapelburg in the present-day Harz district, in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.
