Sporting Hill is an unincorporated community in Hampden Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is bordered on the north and south by the Conodoguinet Creek and the Capital Beltway (11/581) respectively. Carlisle Pike (the old Route 11 and the main east-west route through Sporting Hill) and the Beltway interchange a short distance west of the village, which has multiple retail stores and restaurants, including in the Hampden Town Centre. Sporting Hill is served by the Mechanicsburg post office with the zip code of 17050. On June 30, 1863 the northernmost pitched battle of the American Civil War occurred there at the Skirmish of Sporting Hill during the Gettysburg Campaign.

Peace Church, also known as Die Frieden Kirche, is an historic Reformed and Lutheran church located in Hampden Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. It was built about 1798 by a Reformed congregation, and is a 2+1⁄2-story limestone building with a five-bay front and three-bay sides. In 1806 the local Lutheran congregation was invited "in peace" to share the building for services. The interior features a wine glass pulpit, balcony around three sides, and organ built in 1807. Its builder, Martin Rupp, also built the Johannes Eberly House.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Skirmish of Sporting Hill was a relatively small skirmish during the Gettysburg campaign of the American Civil War, taking place on June 30, 1863, at various locations in present-day Camp Hill, East Pennsboro Township and Hampden Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. It is known as the northernmost engagement of Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War.

It was built between 1794 and 1798, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, fieldstone building with a gable roof, four bays wide. Its architecture suggests a transition from Georgian to Federal style, with a combination of Dutch-German and English building styles. Its builder, Martin Rupp, also built Peace Church.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.The Johannes Eberly House is also notable for being the site of the Skirmish of Sporting Hill, the northernmost engagement of Robert E. Irving Female College, also known as Irving Manor Apartments and Seidle Memorial Hospital, is a historic school complex located in Mechanicsburg in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of two buildings: Irving Hall and Columbian Hall. Irving Hall is the older building, dating from about 1856. It is a three-story, "U"-shaped brick building with wood trim in the Italianate style. An extension to the building was built about 1900. Columbian Hall, built in 1893, is a three-story, rectangular brick building with a wood-frame addition. It is in a combined Italianate / Spanish Renaissance Revival style. It features a projecting stair tower with a semi-conical roof. Both Irving Hall and Columbian Hall were converted to apartments in the late-1930s. The complex formerly included a third building, known as "Argyle," which was the home of the Irving College president. Built in 1911, it was a rectangular Spanish Renaissance Revival style dwelling, with a low hipped roof and wraparound verandah. "Argyle" was demolished in 1991 to make room for expansion of Seidle Hospital.The Irving College complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
