WHYF (720 kHz) is a listener-supported AM radio station, licensed to Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, and serving the Harrisburg metropolitan area. It broadcasts a Catholic talk and teaching radio format, mostly from EWTN Radio with some local programs. It is owned by Holy Family Radio, Inc. By day, WHYF is powered at 2,000 watts non-directional with a construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to increase power to 2,500 watts. The station broadcasts only during daytime hours, to protect from interference WGN Chicago, the Class A, clear-channel station on 720 AM.

Union Hotel, also known as Shepherdstown Hotel, is a historic hotel located at Shepherdstown in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1860, and consists of a three-story, eight bay, rectangular brick main section in the Georgian style. It measures 56 feet, 6 inches wide by 33 feet deep. It has a brick ell, also dated to about 1860, and a 1 1/2-story frame summer kitchen. A one-story frame addition was built about 1920. The building was restored in the 1980s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Shepherdstown is an unincorporated community in Upper Allen Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is just south of Mechanicsburg and is home to the Union Hotel, built in 1860 by Abraham Zook and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Bowmansdale is an unincorporated community located in Upper Allen Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, south of Mechanicsburg. It is named after Jacob Bowman, a former Cumberland County sheriff. Bowmansdale has been recognized as a historic district by the Cumberland County Planning Department. The other historic districts in eastern Cumberland County include the Market Street District in Camp Hill, the Lisburn Historic District, the McCormick Road Historic District, the Mechanicsburg Commercial Historic District, the New Cumberland Historic District, the Shepherdstown Historic District, and West Fairview Village.Before permanent settlements were built in Cumberland County, numerous Native American transportation paths crossed the county, including those of the Shawnee and Delaware tribes. Bowmansdale was a recognized stop on the Conoy Trail that ran between the places that are now known as Lisburn and Carlisle.Bowmansdale is home to the historic Lindenwood Farm. The founding date for the estate is unknown, but a document from the Cumberland County Courthouse recorded its sale by William Crawford to Robert Bryson in 1751. By the late 1780s, the property was home to tanning and limekiln businesses. Several buildings from the 1860s remain on the property, along with barns that are older. By 1884, Bowmansdale was a stop on the Harrisburg and Potomac Railroad that connected Harrisburg to Shippensburg. The rail line was later purchased by the Reading Railroad.The Bowmansdale Stoner covered bridge, built in 1867, was relocated to the campus of nearby Messiah College in Grantham in 1972.

Irving Female College, also known as Irving Manor Apartments and Seidle Memorial Hospital, is a historic school complex located in Mechanicsburg in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of two buildings: Irving Hall and Columbian Hall. Irving Hall is the older building, dating from about 1856. It is a three-story, "U"-shaped brick building with wood trim in the Italianate style. An extension to the building was built about 1900. Columbian Hall, built in 1893, is a three-story, rectangular brick building with a wood-frame addition. It is in a combined Italianate / Spanish Renaissance Revival style. It features a projecting stair tower with a semi-conical roof. Both Irving Hall and Columbian Hall were converted to apartments in the late-1930s. The complex formerly included a third building, known as "Argyle," which was the home of the Irving College president. Built in 1911, it was a rectangular Spanish Renaissance Revival style dwelling, with a low hipped roof and wraparound verandah. "Argyle" was demolished in 1991 to make room for expansion of Seidle Hospital.The Irving College complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

WVMM is Messiah University's student-operated radio station, located at 90.7 MHz FM. The station is known by its listeners as "The Pulse". Messiah College had a radio station from 1970–1983. On October 6, 1989, WVMM was resumed, this time as an over-the-air FM radio station. Prior to that, it was heard only on campus. WVMM now operates at 100 watts, and can be heard throughout the Harrisburg area.

The district includes 91 contributing buildings in the central business district of Mechanicsburg. Most of the contributing buildings date to the 19th century and includes notable examples of the Late Victorian and Georgian styles. Notable buildings include two churches, two banks, and the police department.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Cumberland Valley Railroad Station and Station Master's House, also known as the Mechanicsburg Railroad Station, is a historic railway station and house located at Mechanicsburg in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The station was erected about 1875 by the Cumberland Valley Railroad. It is a 1 1/2-story, brick building with a gable roof. It measures 52 feet by 27 feet. The station master's house is located adjacent to the station, and is a 2 1/2-story, brick building with a gable roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.The building now serves as the main museum and headquarters of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association.
