Otakuthon is Quebec's largest anime convention promoting Japanese animation (anime), Japanese graphic novels (manga), related gaming and Japanese pop-culture (music, cinema, television). It is held annually for 3 days in downtown Montreal during a weekend in August. It is a non-profit, fan-run anime convention that was initiated by Concordia University's anime club, named Otaku Anime of Concordia University (Otaku Anime for short). The name "Otakuthon" is a portmanteau of the Japanese word "otaku" and "marathon". Otakuthon strives to be a bilingual (French and English) event, having programming, the masquerade and the program book in both official languages. The first edition of Otakuthon was held in 2006 in mid-June, but later moved to early-mid August / late July from 2007 onward. Last year's edition, Otakuthon 2019, was held on August 16–18, 2019 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

The Robillard Block (French: Édifice Robillard) once located at 974 boul. St. Laurent, was a landmark building in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, situated in Montreal's Chinatown on the corner of Viger Street and Saint Laurent Boulevard. On 17 November 2016, the building was destroyed by fire.

The Montreal Reggae Festival is a reggae (music) festival held annually at the Old Port of Montreal, during the 2nd weekend of July. Founded in 2004, by Eric Blagrove (President: 2004–present), Ricardo Forbes (Vice-President: 2004–2008), and Cezar Brumeanu (Producer: 2004–2008), the Montreal Reggae Fest was a three-day weekend-long, three stage event. The 2014 festival will include performances from Sean Paul, Demarco, I-Octane, Maxi Priest, Sanchez, Marcia Griffiths, and Percy SledgeThe festival took a hiatus in 2018 and is expected to be back in 2019.

Chinatown in Montreal (French: Le quartier chinois de Montréal; simplified Chinese: 蒙特利尔唐人街; traditional Chinese: 蒙特利爾唐人街; pinyin: Méngtèlì'ěr Tángrénjiē) is located in the area of De la Gauchetière Street in Montreal. The neighbourhood contains many Asian restaurants, food markets, and convenience stores as well being home to many of Montreal's East Asian community centres, such as the Montreal Chinese Hospital and the Montreal Chinese Community and Cultural Center.

Sun Yat-sen, or Place Sun Yat-sen, is a park in Montreal's Chinatown, in Quebec, Canada. The space, named after Sun Yat-sen, hosts many cultural events and other festivals. It features a bust of Sun Yat-sen.

The Palais des congrès de Montréal is a convention centre in Montreal's Quartier international at the north end of Old Montreal. Its borough is Ville-Marie. Construction began in 1977 and completed in 1983; the Palais opened on 21 May 1983. Victor Prus designed the original building.Some of the land for Palais des congrès was expropriated from Chinatown, Montreal, along with building of Complexe Guy-Favreau. Plans to expand the Palais began in 1997. It was expanded from 1999 to 2002, doubling its capacity from 92,000 square metres (990,000 sq ft) to 184,000 square metres (1,980,000 sq ft). The expansion was designed by a consortium of three firms: Tétrault Parent Languedoc; Saia Barbarese Topouzanov; and Aedifica, with Hal Ingberg.It was built above the Ville-Marie Expressway, downtown Montreal's main underground highway. It is on the Montreal Metro at the Place-d'Armes station and is 20 kilometres (12 mi) away from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. It is connected to Montreal's underground city and by indoor walkways to 4,000 hotel rooms.

The Montreal International Auto Show (Le Salon International de l'Auto de Montréal in French) is an annual auto show held for 10 days in mid-to-late January in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It usually takes place at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. The Montréal International Auto Show (MIAS) is produced by the Montréal Automobile Dealers Corporation. When it was first launched in 1969, the show's aim was to beef up car sales during a time of the year when business was known to be relatively slow for car dealerships. This event is, after all these years, a much-anticipated annual rite among Montréalers and it is one of the most important events of its type in Canada with an average of more than 200,000 visitors. The auto show features over 650 vehicles on 375,000 square feet (34,800 m2). [1]. The 2014 edition of the MIAS was held at Palais de Congrés from January 17 to January 26 inclusively.

De la Gauchetiere Street (officially in French: rue De La Gauchetière) is a street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, running through downtown Montreal, the International District and Chinatown. In Chinatown, it takes the form of a pedestrian zone, between Saint Laurent Boulevard and Jeanne Mance Street. In the block fronting the Bell Centre (between Peel Street and Mountain Street), it has been renamed avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal.

Montreal's New York Life Insurance Building (also known as the Quebec Bank Building) is an office building at Place d'Armes in what is now known as Old Montreal, erected in 1887-1889. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest commercial building in Montreal with the first eight floors were designed for retail office space, that quickly filled with the city's best lawyers and financiers. When the clock tower was completed, the owner filled the ninth and tenth floors with the largest legal library in the entire country as a gift to tenants. The building is next to another historic office tower, Aldred Building.

The Bank of Montreal's Head Office is located on Saint Jacques Street in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, across the Place d'Armes from the Notre-Dame Basilica in the Old Montreal neighbourhood. The Bank of Montreal is the oldest bank in Canada, founded in 1817. Although it still remains the bank's legal headquarters, its operational head office was moved to First Canadian Place in Toronto in 1977 due to political instability in Quebec. The centrepiece of the complex is the Bank of Montreal Main Branch, a Pantheon-like building built by John Wells in 1847. The building was inspired by the design of the former headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Scotland in Edinburgh.The building is in neoclassical style. The sculpted pediment of the building was done by Sir John Steell. Enlargements to the building were made in 1901–1905 by the New York City firm of McKim, Mead & White.

Complexe Guy-Favreau is a twelve-storey building complex containing Canadian government offices built in 1984. It is located at 200 René Lévesque Boulevard in Ville-Marie, Montréal and extends over a six-acre plot of land, formerly part of the Montreal Chinatown. The complex is named after Guy Favreau, a former MP, federal cabinet minister and briefly Quebec Superior Court Justice. The building complex came about as a joint venture between the federal government, who served as the head of the project, as well as private businesses, the City of Montreal, and the Desjardins Group. The multifunctional complex is part of the Montreal underground city network and contains various Canadian governmental offices, rental properties, a housing cooperative, commercial units, a daycare facility, and a small park at its center.
