Ōyamazaki Station

Tai-an (待庵) is a Momoyama period chashitsu (Japanese tea house) located at Myōki-an temple in Yamazaki, Kyoto. Tai-an was designed by the great tea master Sen no Rikyū in 1582. Sen no Rikyū was named the tea master of Toyotomi Hideyoshi that same year, following Oda Nobunaga's death, and as Hideyoshi was battling around the area at the time, they often held tea ceremonies there. In fact it is often said that it was built for exactly this purpose.An example of the smallest type of chashitsu, its main layout consists of one tatami mat for the host and another one for the guest. On the north side, where the tea house connects with another building, there is a tokonoma. The entrance, on the south side, is said to have been designed larger than usual in order to allow Hideyoshi to enter with his armor on. On the west side there is another one mat area with a shelf for tea utensils, and a tablet with the name of the teahouse hanging near the ceiling.Tai-an is the only teahouse definitely attributed to Sen no Rikyū, and as such it is designated a National Treasure. It can be visited with advanced reservations with an entrance fee.

Yamazaki Station (山崎駅, Yamazaki-eki) is a passengerrailway station in the town of Ōyamazaki, Otokuni District, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West).

The Ōyamazaki Tile Kiln ruins (大山崎瓦窯跡, Ōyamazaki kawara gama ato) is an archaeological site with the ruins of an early Heian period kiln, located in the town of Ōyamazaki, Otokuni District, Kyoto Prefecture in the Kinai region of Japan. It was designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 2006.

Yamazaki distillery (Japanese: 山崎蒸溜所, Hepburn: Yamazaki jōryūsho) is a Japanese whisky distillery located in Shimamoto, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Opened in 1923, and owned by Suntory, it was Japan's first commercial whisky distillery. Seven thousand bottles of unblended malt whisky are on display in its "Whisky Library".

Minase Shrine (水無瀬神宮, Minase jingū) is a Shinto Shrine in Shimamoto, OsakaThe Shrine is dedicated to the veneration of the kami of Emperor Go-Toba, Emperor Tsuchimikado and Emperor Juntoku. In the struggle with the Kamakura shogunate, the three historical figures are united by one common factor—each was overpowered and banished from the Imperial center in Kyoto: Go-Toba was banished to Oki Island, where he died. Tsuchimikado felt compelled to abandon Kyoto, traveling first to Tosa province (now known as Kōchi Prefecture); and later, he removed himself to Awa province, where he died in exile. Juntoku was forced to end his days at Sado Island. In 1873, the kami of Go-Daigo and Tushimikado were enshrined, and the kami of Juntoku was enshrined in 1874.

The Katsura River (桂川, Katsura-gawa) is a continuation of two other rivers, the Hozu River, a small, speedy river which begins in the mountains near Kameoka and then slithers through the mountains separating Kameoka and Kyoto; and the Ōi River (大堰川 Ōi-gawa), which emerges from those mountains and expands into a shallow, slow-flowing river until Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama. From that point forward, the river is referred to as the Katsura River, and its flow continues for several kilometers through Kyoto Prefecture until it joins the Kamo and Uji rivers. The Katsura River area features some of the oldest shrines in Kyoto and Japan, such as Matsuo Shrine, and, as a counterpoint to the channelled Kamo River, supports acres of agricultural area on its flood plain. It also is known for its summer supply of ayu and is a popular place for holding barbecues.

Mount Tennōzan (天王山, Tennōzan), or simply Tennōzan, is a mountain in Ōyamazaki, Kyoto, Japan. The name originates from a shrine on the mountain dedicated to Gozutennō.

Ōyamazaki (大山崎町, Ōyamazaki-chō) is a town located in Otokuni District, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 September 2023, the town has an estimated population of 16,219 in 6722 households and a population density of 2700 persons per km². The total area of the town is 5.97 square kilometres (2.31 sq mi).

Shimamoto (島本町, Shimamoto-chō) is a town consisting of the entirety of Mishima District, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. As of October 2016, the town has an estimated population of 29,970 and a density of 1,800 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,700/sq mi). The total area is 16.78 km2 (6.48 sq mi). It is located in Prefectural border with Kyoto Otokuni-gun Oyamazaki-cho. At the place where Katsura River, Uji River, Kizu River merge in the Yamazaki Gorge and become Yodo River It has prospered for a long time as a key point of transportation from Kyoto Basin to Osaka Plain. Recently, residential area development is progressing as Bedtown of Osaka City and Kyoto City.

The Battle of Yamazaki (山崎の戦い, Yamazaki no tatakai) was fought in 1582 in Yamazaki, Japan, located in current-day Kyoto Prefecture. This battle is sometimes referred to as the Battle of Mt. Tennō (天王山の戦い Tennō-zan no tatakai). In the Honnō-ji Incident, Akechi Mitsuhide, a retainer of Oda Nobunaga, attacked Nobunaga as he rested in Honnō-ji, and forced him to commit seppuku. Mitsuhide then took over Nobunaga's power and authority around the Kyoto area. Thirteen days later, Oda's forces under Toyotomi Hideyoshi met Mitsuhide at Yamazaki and defeated him, avenging his lord (Nobunaga) and taking Nobunaga's authority and power for himself.
