The Cornelius Public Library is the municipal library serving the city of Cornelius in the U.S. state of Oregon. Founded in 1912, the library is part of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services.

Blooming is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States near the Tualatin River, about two miles south of Cornelius. Its elevation is 190 feet (58 m). There are several plant nurseries in the area. The Blooming area was originally known as "the German Settlement" for a group of German immigrants who had settled there. Rev. Paul of St. Peter's Lutheran Church renamed the community "Blooming", for the area's flowers and as an indicator of the town's good prospects. Blooming post office ran from 1895 to 1904.The center of the community was St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, which is the second-oldest congregation of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod in the Pacific Northwest. John Wright Shute (February 17, 1840 – March 19, 1922) was an American banker in the state of Oregon. He was the founder of the first bank in Washington County, Oregon, and both Shute Park and Shute Road in Hillsboro, Oregon, are his namesakes.

Carnation is an unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States. Carnation lies on Oregon Route 47 on the south side of Forest Grove. Originally called South Forest Grove by white settlers, it was later dubbed Carnation after the flagship product of the Pacific Coast Condensed Milk Company, later called the Carnation Milk Products Company, which opened Oregon's largest condensery there in 1902. The company was lured by the confluence of easy rail transportation and plentiful dairy suppliers. The community had its own post office during 1905 and 1906 and again from 1914 to circa 1933. The original post office was established May 20, 1905, in the store of Clarence L. Bump, who was also the first postmaster. The Oregon & California Railroad built its depot in Carnation, which was linked to downtown Forest Grove by a streetcar starting in May 1906. The transportation company that managed the streetcar went out of business in 1911 and the line was discontinued. The area is now part of the Forest Grove Rural Fire Protection District. Addresses here are listed as part of Forest Grove. The area is home to the historic Alvin T. Smith House and the SakéOne brewery, kura and tasting room.

The Hillsboro Pioneer Cemetery is a pioneer cemetery in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. It is located at the west end of the city along the Tualatin Valley Highway and adjacent to Dairy Creek. The 8.42-acre (3.41 ha) cemetery comprises three formerly private cemeteries. In 1973, the city of Hillsboro gained title to what is the oldest cemetery in Washington County.

Mary Ramsey Wood aka Mary Ramsey Lemons Wood (May 20, 1787/circa 1810 (disputed) – January 1, 1908) was an American pioneer known as the "Mother Queen of Oregon". She was reported to be the oldest living person in the United States when she died, supposedly at the age of 120. It is said she traveled to the Oregon Territory across the Oregon Trail at the age of 66. There is evidence this age claim was inaccurate or exaggerated, however, and she may have been between 96 and 98 when she died.
