Washington Park is a St. Louis MetroLink station. It's platform is located on the city limit line between East St. Louis, Illinois and Washington Park, Illinois. It is primarily a MetroBus transfer and a commuter station with 681 park and ride spaces and 25 long-term spaces. The park and ride lot is accessed from North Kingshighway and St. Clair Avenue. East St. Louis Senior High School is 0.8 miles (1.3 km) south of the station and the Southern Illinois Correctional Center is roughly one half mile (0.8 km) north of the station.

Canteen Township is located in St. Clair County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,263 and it contained 4,027 housing units. Canteen Township was formed from Centreville Station Township when it was subdivided on March 5, 1910.

Washington Park is a village in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. The population was 4,196 as of the 2010 census, down from 5,345 in 2000.

East Saint Louis Senior High School is the only high school located in East St. Louis, Illinois. The school serves about 1,438 students in grades 9 to 12 in the East Saint Louis Public Schools district. It was featured in the Jonathan Kozol book Savage Inequalities. In 1998, East St. Louis Lincoln High School consolidated with East St. Louis High.

Frank Holten State Recreation Area is an urban Illinois state park on 1,080 acres (437 ha) in unincorporated Centreville Township, St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. It is located less than five miles southeast of the Gateway Arch in Greater St. Louis. The park is bisected by Interstate 255.

29th Street Yard (also known as Jackie Joyner-Kersee Yard) is a rail yard for the MetroLink light rail system in East St. Louis, Illinois. It is one of the Bi-State Development Agency's two operation and maintenance facilities for the SD-400 and SD-460 electric light rail vehicles, the other being Ewing Yard in St. Louis, Missouri. The yard opened in 2001 with the St. Clair County MetroLink extension. On October 27, 2009, Metro opened a new paint booth facility at the yard.

Fairmont City is a village in St. Clair and Madison counties, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,265 at the 2020 census, down from 2,635 in 2010. In the 1990s Fairmont City's Hispanic population doubled, and as of 2020, over 79% of the population was of Hispanic descent.

Centreville was a city in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States. The population was 5,309 in 2010, down from 5,951 at the 2000 census. On May 6, 2021, the city ceased to exist, being incorporated into the new city of Cahokia Heights.

The Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site (11 MS 2) is the site of a pre-Columbian Native American city (which existed c. 1050–1350 CE) directly across the Mississippi River from modern St. Louis, Missouri. This historic park lies in south-western Illinois between East St. Louis and Collinsville. The park covers 2,200 acres (890 ha), or about 3.5 square miles (9 km2), and contains about 80 manmade mounds, but the ancient city was much larger. At its apex around 1100 CE, the city covered about 6 square miles (16 km2) and included about 120 earthworks in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and functions.Cahokia was the largest and most influential urban settlement of the Mississippian culture, which developed advanced societies across much of what is now the Central and the Southeastern United States, beginning more than 1,000 years before European contact. Today, the Cahokia Mounds are considered to be the largest and most complex archaeological site north of the great pre-Columbian cities in Mexico. Cahokia Mounds is a National Historic Landmark and a designated site for state protection. It is also one of the 24 UNESCO World Heritage Sites within the United States. The largest prehistoric earthen construction in the Americas north of Mexico, the site is open to the public and administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Division and supported by the Cahokia Mounds Museum Society. In celebration of the 2018 Illinois state bicentennial, the Cahokia Mounds were selected as one of the Illinois 200 Great Places by the American Institute of Architects Illinois component (AIA Illinois). It was recognized by USA Today Travel magazine, as one of the selections for 'Illinois 25 Must See Places'.

Fairview Heights is a St. Louis MetroLink station. This station is located on the western edge of Fairview Heights, Illinois and is primarily a commuter station with 853 park and ride spaces and 45 long-term spaces. The station is a large transfer for Illinois MetroBus routes and is the eastern terminus of the Blue Line. The station and its adjoining transit center are located at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Illinois Route 161. Fairview Heights is the northernmost station served by the St. Clair County Transit District's MetroBikeLink shared-use path system. This 3.5 miles (5.6 km) section opened in 2019 and follows the old CSX rail alignment and Schoenberger Creek through hills and hollers of the Dutch Hollow area of Belleville and Fairview Heights. This section of trail connects to the other 11.5 miles (18.5 km) of MetroBikeLink for a total of 14 miles (23 km) of paved trails along MetroLink in St. Clair County, Illinois.

Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center (also known as JJK Center) is a St. Louis MetroLink station. It is adjacent to the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Youth Center and Jones Park in East St. Louis, Illinois. It is located just west of Metro's 29th Street Yard and just north of Interstate 64's exit 4B. This station has no park and ride lot but does feature a kiss-and-ride turnaround.

Cahokia Downs was an American horse racing track located on Highway 15 near the town of Alorton, St. Clair County, Illinois. Run by the East St. Louis Jockey Club, the facility opened in 1954 and hosted both Standardbred harness racing and Thoroughbred flat racing events. At Cahokia Downs on October 18, 1978, jockey David Gall became the first rider in United States Thoroughbred horse racing to win eight races on a single racecard.In October 1979 the Illinois Racing Commission refused to authorize any 1980 racing dates for Cahokia Downs and on April 2, 1980 the business filed for bankruptcy. The track never reopened.
