Lord Simcoe Hotel was one of many now vanished hotels in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Built in 1956, the 20-storey concrete and glass modernist structure was designed by Henry T. Langston and Peter Dickinson. The hotel was named for John Graves Simcoe, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada and a resident of York, Upper Canada (now Toronto). The name was somewhat incorrect as Simcoe was never called himself a Lord. Located on the northeast corner of King Street and University Avenue (150 King Street West), it was closed in 1979 and torn down in 1981. It was replaced by the Sun Life Centre East Tower in 1984. The hotel was unable to compete with other downtown hotels due to a lack of central air conditioning and convention space. It consistently lost money over its 24-year existence.

The Sun Life Centre in Toronto, Ontario (also known as 150 King Street West) was built in 1984 to house the Toronto operations of Sun Life Financial, serving as the insurance company's global headquarters until 2017. The Sun Life Financial Tower is known as an architectural symbol of modernism, located in the heart of Toronto's financial district at 150 King Street West.Construction of the stainless steel and glass high-rise structure was completed in 1984 and was originally developed to house the head office of Sun Life 9, now Sun Life Financial. Toronto's Sun Life Centre/150 King W. complex should not be mistaken for the Sun Life Building in Montreal, the original global headquarters before Sun Life moved its HQ from Quebec to Ontario in 1976, after the election of the first PQ government. Sun Life moved its global headquarters from 150 King to the newly named Sun Life Financial Tower at One York in Toronto's South Core district in 2017. Sun Life retains ownership over 150 King Street West and has leased the roughly 150,000 square feet of space it vacated.

Exchange Tower is a 36 storey 146 m (479 ft) tower in the First Canadian Place complex of Toronto, Ontario, Canada completed in 1981. The International style building is named for the Toronto Stock Exchange, which is the building's highest-profile tenant. The building was built on the site of the William H. Wright Building.Located in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District at the corner of King and York Streets, the Exchange Tower is also home to National Bank Financial, offices of the federal Department of Justice, and the Toronto campus of the University of Western Ontario's Ivey Business School. In April 2018, Restaurant Brands International announced that they would be moving their head office into the Exchange Tower.

Rossin House Hotel was a mid-19th century hotel located at the southeast corner of King Street and York Street in Toronto, Canada. The original structure was built in 1856 and was destroyed by a fire and re-built in 1863. It was one of the city's pre-eminent hotels, with one 1866 guide claiming, "What the Fifth Avenue Hotel is to New York, and the Windsor is to Montreal, so the celebrated Rossin House is to Toronto."The five-storey hotel was renamed the Prince George Hotel in 1909 after the future monarch, George V. It was demolished in 1969 to make way for the architect Mies van der Rohe's Toronto-Dominion Centre, with the corner being further developed in 1984 for The Standard Life Centre.

The Chewitt Building was a former multi-use commercial building located on the southeast corner of King and York Streets in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was designed by Toronto-based architect John G. Howard, who moved his offices to the building after its completion in 1833. It was demolished in 1857 as part of the building of the Rossin House Hotel. The site is currently the location of the Standard Life Center. The building was a major commercial center, housing a wide variety of business offices. The ground floor held the British Coffee House, which mirrored the commercial coffee houses of London, providing a meeting placed for new business ventures. It was here on 29 July 1834 that the first meeting was held to discuss the building of what became the Northern Railway of Canada, the first railway in Upper Canada. The House was forced to close in 1837 as it was believed to be a major meeting point for members of the Upper Canada Rebellion.

The Union Building is an older building in Toronto that has been described as an "architectural gem". When it was built, in 1908, on the Northwest corner of King and Simcoe streets, it was directly across from the palatial official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. The six story structure was built on a site that was originally part of the home of Upper Canada College. The building was designed by the firm Darling and Pearson, and was originally known as the Canadian General Electric Company Building. A seventh floor and copper clad mansard roof was added in the 1980s.In 2010 City of Toronto government staff recommended the building be granted heritage protection under the Ontario Heritage Act. The building had been listed on the City's Inventory of Heritage Properties since 2007. In December 2020, a 1,017 ft. (310 m) addition to the Union Building was proposed with a planned completion date of 2026. If it is built, it will become one of the tallest buildings in Canada.

Shangri-La Toronto is a luxury hotel and residential condominium building in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was designed by James K. M. Cheng and built by Westbank Projects Corp.; they also designed and built the Living Shangri-La in Vancouver. The building is 214 meters tall and is one of the fifteen tallest buildings in Toronto. The hotel component is run by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and has 202 guest rooms and suites. The condominium portion occupies the upper floors of the building and consists of 393 units. Excavation of the site started in 2008, and work on the parking garage began in early 2009.

Royal Lyceum was a live theatre and opera house in Toronto, Canada West (later Ontario), Canada. Built in 1848, it was the first purpose-built live theatre venue in the town. Beginning in the 1860s, it housed Toronto's first opera company, that of George Holman, who also managed the theatre. It burnt down in 1874 and was rebuilt as the Royal Opera House, eventually being finally destroyed by fire in 1883. Its address was 99+1⁄2 King Street West between Bay Street and York Street on the south side of the street. The hall was accessed by Theatre Lane, as the actual hall was one block south, on Wellington Street. The location is now the site of the Toronto-Dominion Centre.
