Naarderbos

Naarden (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈnaːrdə(n)] (listen)) is a city and former municipality in the Gooi region in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It has been part of the new municipality of Gooise Meren since 2016.

The Dutch Fortress Museum (Nederlands Vestingmuseum) is located in the city of Naarden, The Netherlands. The Museum was established by volunteers in 1955 at bastion Turfpoort, one of six bastions that give the walled city its distinctive star shape. (During World War II, allied bombers returning to Great Britain from bombing missions used it as a marker.) The fortifications themselves, including the bastions, date from the period 1575-1585, when King Philip II of Spain ordered them to be constructed. The museum includes exhibits on the history of fortification, garrison life, the Dutch Water Line, and the history of the city of Naarden-Vesting. The exhibits are housed in rooms in four casemates; because the casemates consist of a thick layer of earth, temperatures in the rooms are relatively stable, being warm in winter and cool in summer. Above ground, the museum also contains a collection of guns from the 19th Century.

The Hollandse Brug is a bridge structure that crosses the Gooimeer and the IJmeer in the Netherlands. The bridge carries both the Flevolijn heavy rail railway and the A6 motorway, plus a cycleway and footway.

Almere Strand railway station (English: Almere Beach) was a railway station in Almere, Netherlands. It was located on the Weesp–Lelystad railway (Flevolijn) between Weesp, North Holland and Almere Muziekwijk, Flevoland. Almere Strand station was served only during the Libelle Zomerweek and during events at the nearby beach. Trains at this station were operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station, which had two platforms with no facilities, was first opened on 1 May 1996 before being closed on 1 July 1996. It remained closed until 1 June 1999, when it reopened. It was closed permanently in October 2012, shortly before Almere Poort railway station opened.

Naarden-Bussum is a railway station in the north of Bussum, Netherlands that also serves the neighboring community of Naarden. The station has one standard platform and one island platform. It has a total of four tracks, of which one track is for passing trains only. The station was opened on 10 June 1874. The station is on the Amsterdam - Hilversum - Amersfoort line, known as the Gooilijn. The station was also used as a tram station for the Bussum - Huizen tram service from 1883 to 1958.

Bussum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbʏsʏm] (listen)) is a commuter town and former municipality in the Gooi region in the south east of the province of North Holland in the Netherlands near Hilversum. Since 2016, Bussum has been part of the new municipality of Gooise Meren. Bussum had a population of 33,595 in 2019 and covered an area of 8.15 km2 (3.15 sq mi).

Gooise Meren (pronounced [ˈɣoːi̯sə ˈmeːrə(n)]) is a municipality in the province of North Holland, the Netherlands. It has about 56,000 inhabitants and covers an area of about 77 km2 (30 sq mi). Gooise Meren has existed since 2016. It is a merger of the former municipalities of Bussum, Muiden, Muiderberg and Naarden. Eastern (Naarden area) and southern part (Bussum area) of the municipality lie within the Gooi region, western part (Muiden area) lies within the Vechtstreek region. The very northern part of the Utrecht Hill Ridge, lake Naardermeer and artificial island Pampus are situated within its boundaries. Gooise Meren borders in the northwest on lake IJmeer, in the northeast on lake Gooimeer. The Vecht river empties into the IJmeer at Muiden, and also the northern end of the former Hollandic Water Line ends in Muiden.

The Topsportcentrum is an indoor sports arena, located in Almere, Netherlands. Designed by architectural studio ZJA, it opened on the 7th of October in 2007. Its operator is the city of Almere and its main hall has a capacity of 3,000 people. The sports it is used most for are volleyball and basketball, with VC Allvo and Almere Pioneers use the venue as their home arena. The hall was finished in 2007 and costed €14 million. From 2007 until 2013, the hall was used for the final of the NBB Cup, the main cup competition for men's basketball teams. On 24 February 2020, Basketball Nederland announced the national basketball team will play its international home games in Almere until 2023.

Almere Poort is a railway station in Almere, Netherlands. It is located on the Flevolijn. It replaced Almere Strand railway station as the city's sixth railway station. The opening of the station, initially planned for 2007, took place on 9 December 2012. The station serves the new borough Almere Poort which is also under development since 2007 and will have 11,000 dwellings when it is finished.

Restaurant Soigné is a restaurant in Bussum, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 2010 and has retained that rating until the present.In 2013, GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 13 out of 20 points.The head chef of Soigné is Dennis Jong, former senior sous chef of La Rive. The maître is Frank Velthuyse. They have owned the restaurant since 2007.The restaurant is located in a building that formerly housed the restaurant Negliche. This restaurant was in 2006 sold to Sidney Heinze, former head chef of Tante Koosje. Heinze changed the name of the restaurant in Soigné, but sold the restaurant a year later.

Almere Gate (; Dutch: Almere Poort) is a borough (stadsdeel) of Almere, Netherlands. It is the newest part of what is a new city itself, with the first building completed only in 2005. Although Almere is a planned city, Almere Poort was not in the original city plans, but is rather a result of revised urban planning in accordance to Almere's more recent development plans assuming much higher target population and more prominent role as a satellite urban centre to Amsterdam. Almere Poort is located on the western bank of the IJmeer, with the Almeerderstrand beach forming the borough's (as well as municipality's and province's) western boundary. It borders Almere Haven to the south, Almere Stad to the east and the yet-undeveloped (as of 2012) designated district of Almere Pampus to the North. The A6 motorway runs along the borough's southern border, with one exit at Poortdreef and one at Hogering, the latter of which runs along the eastern border. The Flevolijn railway line runs semi-diagonally across the borough, with local trains stopping at the borough's station Almere Poort railway station. The former Almere Strand railway station, which was serviced only during events at Almeerderstrand, was also within the boundaries of Almere Poort. It was demolished in 2012. Since then, buses run between Almere Poort station and Almeerderstrand during events. Almere Poort differs from the other boroughs and districts in that residential development does not follow the model typical for other districts of Almere, which is mostly large-scale single-family housing developments built according to a common plan. Contrary to this, the district features both high-density apartment buildings, as well as land parcels available for free private housing development. Also contrary to older districts of Almere, Almere-Poort refers to its residential areas as kwartieren rather than wijken. The designated parts of Almere Poort according to the official website of the municipality are: Homeruskwartier - featuring land plots for private housing development, with streets named after mythological beings and characters featured in the works of Homer Europakwartier - consisting of large-scale apartment buildings with an urban atmosphere, divided by the railway tracks into Europakwartier-West and Europakwartier-Oost. The street naming after European countries generally follows the east-west geographic location of countries Columbuskwartier - this residential district has streets named after famous explorers such as Christopher Columbus himself Olympiakwartier and Olympia Office Park are to be constructed around the Almere Poort railway station to form the district's multi-functional and prestigious centre. Duin which will feature beach condo's and sand hills close to the beach of Almeerderstrand and Marina Muiderzand. Cascadepark - a park between Homeruskwartier and Europakwartier with its first trees planted in 2008 Kustzone - the coastal zone along the Almeerderstrand is designated for mixed development, including residential buildings, hotels, leisure facilities and some commerce Hogekant - this commercial area in the Western extremity of the district is designated for industrial use, mostly by small and mid-sized enterprises in the craft and service sectors Middenkant - separated with a canal from the Hogekant is to provide a more high-quality neighbourhood for SMEs Lagekant - this commercial area is designated for large and international companies in the service sector

Muiderberg (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌmœydərˈbɛr(ə)x]) is a village in the municipality of Gooise Meren in the Netherlands. It lies about 6 km north of Bussum and 2 km west of Naarden, adjacent to the Naarderbos.
