Hubbard, Ohio

Hubbard Township is one of the twenty-four townships of Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 12,969 people in the township.

Hubbard High School is a public high school in Hubbard, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Hubbard Exempted Village School District. Sports teams are called the Eagles, and they compete in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Northeast 8 Athletic Conference. The school, located at 350 Hall Ave, serves students in grades 9 through 12 from Hubbard, Ohio, but also a number of students from Youngstown and other surrounding communities through the Open Enrollment program. Built in 2013, Hubbard has one of the newer campuses in the area.

Maplewood Park is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southern Hubbard Township, Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The population was 243 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area.

Coalburg, Ohio, rarely Coalburgh, is an unincorporated tract in northwestern Hubbard Township, Trumbull County, at approximately 41 degrees and 11 minutes North, 80 degrees and 35 minutes West. It was never a city, a town or a village. Its only official station, a post office, was closed in 1913, when the dwindling population could no longer support it. Although listed in the 1940 census enumeration district descriptions as a separate entity to the Hubbard township, no population figures were recorded.During the late 19th century, miners who worked the nearby coalfields and their families resided in Coalburg. The settlement had an active business district and houses of worship. Several railroads transported coal from Coalburg’s mines to iron foundries in Youngstown, Ohio, and beyond. National press attention was focused on Coalburg during a regional coal miners’ strike in 1873, when mine owners transported newly arrived immigrants, Italians and Swedes, from eastern seaports and African Americans from Virginia to break the miners’ labor action.

The William H. McGuffey Boyhood Home Site is a National Historic Landmark in Mahoning County, Ohio. It is the location where William H. McGuffey (1800-1873), lived for much of his youth. McGuffey is best known as the creator of the McGuffey Readers, a hugely popular set of educational primers. The site, now a regional park known as the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966.

The Ohio State Penitentiary (OSP) is a 502-inmate capacity supermax Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction prison in Youngstown, Ohio, United States. Throughout the last two centuries, there have been two institutions with the name Ohio Penitentiary or Ohio State Penitentiary; the first prison was in Columbus, Ohio. Inmates in Levels 5B and 5A are classified as those who fail to adapt or those who are active participants/ring leaders of security threat groups.Level 4 inmates occupy similarly-designed cells but have additional freedom to move about within specific cell blocks. Inmates classified as Level 4B may also exercise within their specific cell block, but are also required to lock down before security staff enter the cell block to perform range checks, serve food, etc. Inmates classified as Level 4A are not subject to this restriction.Formerly, the majority of Ohio's death row inmates were held at OSP. In January 2012, the majority of death row inmates were transferred to the Chillicothe Correctional Institution. OSP does retain death row cells for inmates who are considered the highest security risk. As of 2019, six high security death row inmates remain at OSP, four of whom were involved in the 1993 Lucasville prison riot at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.Ohio State Penitentiary currently holds level 5, 4, 3 and 1 inmates. Level 1 inmates are housed outside of the institutional fence in their own building. Inmates placed in restricted housing for disciplinary rules infractions are locked down with the exception of showers, restrooms, and one recreation period of one hour, 5 days per week.

Lansdowne Airport is a privately owned airport, located in an area known as the "Sharon Line" to locals, due to its proximity to a defunct train line that once ran from Youngstown to Sharon, right across the state line through the Steel Valleys.

Shenango Township is a township in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,519 at the 2020 census, down from 3,929 in 2010.

Brookfield Air Force Station is a closed United States Air Force General Surveillance Radar station. It is located 1.1 miles (1.8 km) south-southeast of Brookfield, Ohio. It was closed in 1959.
