Arlington Park

Arlington Park is one of two commuter railroad stations along Metra's Union Pacific Northwest Line in the Village of Arlington Heights, Illinois. The station is located at 2121 West Northwest Highway (US 14) and Wilke Road, within Arlington Park Race Course, and lies 24.4 miles (39.3 km) from Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Arlington Park is in zone E. As of 2018, Arlington Park is the 15th busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 1,738 weekday boardings.The Arlington Park station was designed originally to serve just the Arlington Park Race Track, but now serves postal employees at the Processing and Distribution Center in Palatine, Illinois as well as residents of southeast Palatine and west Arlington Heights, although a fence blocks most of the access to the station from the Palatine side. Despite its original purpose as a racetrack station, Arlington Park is located along the Union Pacific Northwest Line's main line, rather than a spur or a sidetrack. No bus connections are available. As of April 25, 2022, Arlington Park is served by 22 inbound and 24 outbound trains on weekdays, by 16 inbound trains and all 17 outbound trains on Saturdays, and by 9 inbound trains and all 11 outbound trains on Sundays. Parking is available within a section of the track complex's property dedicated for Metra commuter parking. As of June 2010, the price was $1.50 per day. The commuter parking lot is operated by Imperial Parking Corporation, operating as Impark. Impark has sometimes drawn criticism over business practices related to parking payment; at this lot in particular, commuters are required to pay a surcharge to use pay-by-phone when the lot's payment machines are out of order.

The West Meadows Ice Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Rolling Meadows, IL. It features ice for hockey, figure skating, and open skating. The ice rink is owned and operated by the Rolling Meadows Park District. West Meadows is one of two ice rinks in Rolling Meadows. The arena was home to the Chicago Hitmen a Jr. A ice hockey organization fielding teams in the Tier II Jr A North American Hockey League as well as the Tier III Jr A North American 3 Hockey League during the 2010-11 season before they moved to the Fox Valley Ice Arena. The arena was also home to the Chicago Blaze of the All American Hockey League before the team folded on December 11, 2009.

Christian Liberty Academy (CLA) is a private Christian school serving about 500 students, located in Arlington Heights, Cook County, Illinois. The school serves families who live in 69 surrounding cities. CLA has grades preschool through twelfth grade and was founded in 1968 under the auspices of the Church of Christian Liberty. The church provides oversight for the school as one of its ministries, though students and parents are not required to be members or attend the church.

Arlington High School was a public high school located in Arlington Heights, Illinois, which operated from 1922 to 1984. It was the oldest school in Township High School District 214 which served students in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows and Wheeling, Illinois. The school occupied a site that is approximately 1.3 km due east of Arlington Racetrack. In the mid-1980s, District 214 had budget concerns with declining enrollment. As a result, the district board members decided to close Arlington High School in 1984, and Forest View High School in 1986.

Rolling Meadows is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 24,099 at the 2010 census.

The Nathaniel Moore Banta House is an Arts and Crafts residence adjacent to the Muller House on the grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, United States. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since May 20, 1998.

The Müller House is a historic house located at 500 North Vail Avenue in Arlington Heights, Illinois. F.W. Müller built the house for his family and their soda water business in 1882. The Müller business was one of the first commercial establishments in Arlington Heights and was part of the city's early transition from a rural settlement to a large suburb of Chicago. The house is also an uncommon blend of architectural styles; while it features a Greek Revival cornice with scrolled brackets and a symmetrical front facade, the style is not seen elsewhere in the house, which otherwise has a Victorian design. The design also combines the functional necessities of the factory with the decorative features of a middle-class home; prominent among the latter is the house's woodwork, which includes a carved oak staircase.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 26, 1979. It is now part of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum.

Rolling Meadows High School, RMHS, is a public four-year high school located in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Township High School District 214, the second largest high school district in Illinois, after Township High School District 211. The other five schools include Buffalo Grove High School, Elk Grove High School, John Hersey High School, Prospect High School, and Wheeling High School. It serves primarily central and east Rolling Meadows (east of Route 53), a significant part of Arlington Heights and a small part of Mount Prospect. Its feeder schools are South Middle School, Holmes Junior High School, Carl Sandburg Junior High School, and Our Lady of the Wayside, a private Catholic school. Rolling Meadows High School first opened for the 1971-1972 school year.

In Metra's zone-based fare system, Arlington Heights is in zone E. As of 2018, Arlington Heights is the fifth busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 2,506 weekday boardings.As of April 25, 2022, Arlington Heights is served by 27 inbound trains and 28 outbound trains on weekdays, by all 17 trains in both directions on Saturdays, and by all 10 inbound trains and all 11 outbound trains on Sundays. Four inbound trains originate from Arlington Heights, and four outbound trains terminate at Arlington Heights on weekdays. One inbound train originates from Arlington Heights on weekends. Parking is available along Northwest Highway and the north side of the tracks from east of Walnut Avenue to Dunton Avenue. It is also available on the south side of the tracks between Vail and Dunton Avenues leading into Payton Run. A much larger parking lot exists on the south side of the track between Evergreen Avenue and Arlington Heights Road north of Sigwalt Street. A fourth parking lot is available north of US 14 along Vail Avenue between St. James and Fremont Streets. Three others are not available to commuters. There is a newsstand, restroom and staffed (weekday mornings) ticket agent inside the station building.

Arlington Heights School District 25 (AHSD25) is a school district that serves and is based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The school district serves over 5,550 students in nine schools.

Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) is a 489-bed acute care hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois, United States. Opened in 1959, the hospital serves 200,000 outpatients and 20,000 inpatients annually. The hospital operates a Level 2 Trauma Center, Level III NICU, a pediatric emergency department and a Primary Stroke Center. NCH has four Immediate Care locations in the northwest suburbs and operates a walk-in clinic in Palatine. NCH has a medical staff of more than 1,000 physicians, which includes the board-certified primary care doctors and specialists of the NCH Medical Group.

The Arlington Heights Army Air Defense Site was a Project Nike Missile Master installation started in late 1959 after the United States Army had purchased 44 acres (18 ha).† Adjacent to the Arlington Heights Air Force Station, the Arlington Heights Army Installation opened on October 28, 1960, as the 8th of 10 Army Air Defense Command Posts (AADCP) to have a Martin AN/FSG-1 Antiaircraft Defense System installed for Nike-Hercules command and control. In addition to the Army's 2 AN/FPS-6 radars, the radars of the co-located USAF station provided AADCP data for the 45th Artillery Brigade's control of the Chicago-Gary Defense Area (10 missile batteries and their Integrated Fire Control sites).[1] The vacuum tube AN/FSG-1 was replaced c. October 1967* with a solid-state Hughes AN/TSQ-51 Air Defense Command and Coordination System, which controlled the combined Chicago-Milwaukee Defense Area after the Milwaukee Defense Area merged with Chicago-Gary in 1968. Project Concise ended the site's Nike operations in 1974, and 52 acres (21 ha) were transferred to the city parks district. A May 1979 golf course was built near the nuclear bunker—the Arlington Lakes Golf Club has 90 acres (36 ha) with 14 lakes.
