Northeim

Northeim (Han) railway station (German: Bahnhof Northeim (Han)) is a railway hub in the town of Northeim, Germany. It is classed as category 3 station and has six platforms. In addition to 3 daily Intercity trains, regional railway trains stop at the station.

Langenholtensen is a village near the town of Northeim and part of that town, in Lower Saxony. The name comes from Holzhausen, a quite frequently occurring place-name in Germany.

The Rhume is a 48 km (30 mi) long river in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Leine. Its source is the karstic spring of Rhume Spring in Rhumspringe, south of the Harz mountain range. The water drains with high pressure from the ground of the funnel-shaped well, known for its turquoise colour. The Rhume then flows in northwesterly direction through the municipalities of Gieboldehausen, Katlenburg-Lindau and Northeim. It finally joins the Leine river west of Northeim.

Drüber is a southern suburb (Ortsteil) of the town of Einbeck, district Northeim. It has 456 inhabitants (2021).

Kalefeld is a municipality in the district of Northeim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km north of Northeim. It comprises the villages of Dögerode, Eboldshausen, Echte, Kalefeld, Oldenrode, Oldershausen, Sebexen, Westerhof, Wiershausen, and Willershausen. In 2008, a Roman battlefield was excavated near the town. Currently it is very probable that Roman legionaries won a battle for a blocked pass against local Germanic fighters.

Grossenrode (in German: Großenrode) is a district of the town of Moringen in Northeim, Lower Saxony, Germany. It has about 330 inhabitants. Nearby places include Behrensen, Elvese, Hillerse, Schnedinghausen, Thüdinghausen, and Wolbrechtshausen.

Echte is a village in the Gemeinde Kalefeld in the district of Northeim in northern Germany with about 1,380 inhabitants. The earliest known archival reference to the community is in the Fuldaer Tradition 826, where it is referred to as Eti. In the Middle Ages, it served as a trade node on the east-west road between Einbeck and Osterode and the north-south road from Northeim to Seesen. Skilled craftsmen were a significant part of the village's population as early as the 17th century. In 1657, of 362 residents, 16 were classified as craftsmen. About a century later (in 1779), the census showed 35 craftsmen out of 479 residents. Most numerous were linen weavers, followed by cobblers and then carpenters. Echte took part in the great emigration from Germany to the New World in 1845-1846. In 1936, Echte's population exceeded 1,000. There are sixteen social, cultural or service associations in the community.

Lindau (also: Lindau (Eichsfeld)) is a village in the southern Lower Saxon section of the Eichsfeld, Germany. Lindau belongs to the Gemeinde (municipality) of Katlenburg-Lindau and to the Landkreis (district) of Northeim. The village is known to many space physicists and radio engineers around the world, as the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (known as "Max Planck Institute for Aeronomy" until June 2004) was based there until 2014, when it moved to Göttingen, also in Lower Saxony.

Katlenburg-Lindau (Eastphalian: Katelnborg-Lindau) is a municipality in the Landkreis (district) of Northeim in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km southeast of Northeim, and 20 km northeast of Göttingen. Katlenburg-Lindau was formed on 1 March 1974 from the formerly independent communities of Katlenburg-Duhm, Gillersheim, Berka, Elvershausen, Wachenhausen, Suterode and Lindau. With the exception of Lindau, which had belonged Landkreis Duderstadt (itself formerly part of the Eichsfeld), these communities were part of Landkreis Northeim. The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (Max-Planck-Institut für Sonnensystemforschung) of the Max Planck Society was located in Lindau from 1946 to 2014, when it was moved to Göttingen. Until June 2004 the MPI was known as "Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie".

Sülbeck is one of the oldest villages in the town of Einbeck, district Northeim. The development of the village is connected to the saline springs. These were used to produce brine and salt for some hundred years.

Espolde is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It flows into the Leine near Nörten-Hardenberg. The Espolde springs in the eastern foothills of the mountain range Solling. Its source is located just north of the village Espol (part of Hardegsen) at about 311 m above sea level (NN).

Nörten-Hardenberg (Eastphalian: Nörten-Harenbarg) is a municipality in the district of Northeim, in Lower Saxony, Germany.
