Lindau (Katlenburg-Lindau)

Katlenburg-Lindau (Eastphalian: Katelnborg-Lindau) is a municipality in the Landkreis (district) of Northeim in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km southeast of Northeim, and 20 km northeast of Göttingen. Katlenburg-Lindau was formed on 1 March 1974 from the formerly independent communities of Katlenburg-Duhm, Gillersheim, Berka, Elvershausen, Wachenhausen, Suterode and Lindau. With the exception of Lindau, which had belonged Landkreis Duderstadt (itself formerly part of the Eichsfeld), these communities were part of Landkreis Northeim. The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (Max-Planck-Institut für Sonnensystemforschung) of the Max Planck Society was located in Lindau from 1946 to 2014, when it was moved to Göttingen. Until June 2004 the MPI was known as "Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie".

Wulften am Harz is a municipality in Lower Saxony, Germany, near the towns of Northeim and Osterode am Harz.

The Lichtenstein is a hill, 260.9 m above sea level (NHN), in the southwestern Harz Foreland. It rises near Osterode am Harz in the Lower Saxon county of Göttingen. There is a formation of Lower Bunter sandstone on the hill as well as the remains of Lichtenstein Castle. It is also the site of the Lichtenstein Cave.

The Lichtenstein Cave, discovered in 1972, is an archaeological cave site near Dorste, Lower Saxony, Germany with a length of 115 m (377 ft). The skeletal remains of 21 female humans and 19 males, dated to the Bronze Age, about 3,000 years ago were discovered. In addition, around 100 bronze objects (ear rings, bracelets, and finger rings) and ceramic parts from the Urnfield Culture were found.

Northeim (German pronunciation: [ˈnɔʁtˌhaɪ̯m]; Low German: Nuurten) is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany, seat of the district of Northeim, with a population of 29,440 as of 31 December 2022. It lies on the German Half-Timbered House Road.

Echte is a village in the Gemeinde Kalefeld in the district of Northeim in northern Germany with about 1,380 inhabitants. The earliest known archival reference to the community is in the Fuldaer Tradition 826, where it is referred to as Eti. In the Middle Ages, it served as a trade node on the east-west road between Einbeck and Osterode and the north-south road from Northeim to Seesen. Skilled craftsmen were a significant part of the village's population as early as the 17th century. In 1657, of 362 residents, 16 were classified as craftsmen. About a century later (in 1779), the census showed 35 craftsmen out of 479 residents. Most numerous were linen weavers, followed by cobblers and then carpenters. Echte took part in the great emigration from Germany to the New World in 1845-1846. In 1936, Echte's population exceeded 1,000. There are sixteen social, cultural or service associations in the community.

Ebergötzen is a village in the District of Göttingen in Germany in Lower Saxony. It is 15 km from Göttingen and belongs to the Samtgemeinde Radolfshausen. Ebergötzen has 1,927 inhabitants (December 2020). Ebergötzen has achieved some fame as being the place where Wilhelm Busch, author of the Max und Moritz stories that make many consider him the "Father of the Comic Strip", spent large parts of his childhood. Wilhelm Busch lived there from 1841 to 1846, staying with his uncle Georg Kleine, the pastor of Ebergötzen. He had a friendship with the miller's son and neighbour, Erich Bachmann, and it is speculated that the tricks and experiences of the two boys are portrayed in "Max and Moritz". Ebergötzen is home to two tourist attractions, the Wilhelm Busch Museum, and the European Bread Museum.

Eisdorf is a village and a former municipality in the district of Göttingen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 March 2013, it is part of the municipality Bad Grund.
