Trimble, Ohio

Jacksonville is a village in Athens County, Ohio, United States. The population was 400 at the 2020 census.

Trimble High School (THS) is a public high school in Glouster, Ohio, located in Athens County in southeast Ohio. It is the only high school (grades 9–12) in the Trimble Local School District. The school district serves the residents of Glouster, Jacksonville, and Trimble. The school mascot is a tomcat and the school colors are red, white, and gray.

Trimble Township is one of the fourteen townships of Athens County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census found 4,041 people in the township.

Glouster is a village in Trimble Township, Athens County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,659 at the 2020 census. It is close to Burr Oak State Park.

Redtown is an unincorporated community in Athens County, Ohio, United States. Redtown is located at the intersection of State Routes 13 and 685. The community is north of Chauncey and south of Jacksonville.

The Palos Covered Bridge, in Athens County, Ohio near Glouster, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It is a multiple kingpost truss covered bridge. It is a single-span bridge spanning the east fork of Sunday Creek about one mile north of Glouster off State Route 13, in Trimble Township, Athens County, Ohio. It served the W. P. Rice Mine, a coal mine which operated from 1913 to 1925.

Bishopville is an unincorporated community in Morgan County and Athens County, Ohio, United States. Bishopville is located on Ohio State Route 78, 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Glouster. The community is near Burr Oak State Park.

The Trimble Community Forest or Trimble Township Community Forest is a 1,200-acre (4.9 km2) forest preserve owned by the Appalachia Ohio Alliance, a land trust located in southeast Ohio. Formerly called Taylor Ridge, it was purchased in 2006 from the Sunday Creek Coal Company, and was formerly part of the Sunday Creek State Wildlife Area. The land has a long history of coal, oil, natural gas, and timber production. The AOA negotiated with the Trimble Township Trustees on its use before purchase. It is located in Athens County, Ohio, south of Ohio State Route 78, between Glouster, Ohio and Murray City, Ohio. The forest is used as a land lab by nearby Trimble High School and Trimble Middle School. The land lab area is known as the Trimble Tomcat Environmental Learning Lab. The Ohio Division of Wildlife provides assistance to a local citizens committee that manages the forest.

The Purchase on the Muskingum also called Ohio Company's Second Purchase, was a tract of land in the Northwest Territory, later Ohio, that the Ohio Company of Associates purchased from the United States federal government in 1792.

Burr Oak State Park is a public recreation area located four miles (6.4 km) northeast of Glouster in the U.S. state of Ohio. The park sits mostly in Morgan County, with part extending into Athens County. The state park is centered at Burr Oak Lake. The dam for the lake is federal property under the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers, and is named Tom Jenkins Dam. It was built in 1950 for flood control. The maximum depth of the lake is around thirty feet. The lake and park are named for the burr oak tree, a variety of oak. The area of the park is 2,593 acres (1,049 ha), while that of the lake is 664 acres (269 ha). The park was dedicated in 1952. The park borders the Wayne National Forest and the Sunday Creek State Wildlife Area.
