Trimble High School (THS) is a public high school in Glouster, Ohio, located in Athens County in southeast Ohio. It is the only high school (grades 9–12) in the Trimble Local School District. The school district serves the residents of Glouster, Jacksonville, and Trimble. The school mascot is a tomcat and the school colors are red, white, and gray.

It was the state's worst mine disaster, killing 82 men. Sigmund Kozma was the last remaining survivor of the disaster, passing away on January 3, 2009.

Modoc is an unincorporated community in Athens County, Ohio, United States. Modoc is located on Ohio State Route 685 east of Buchtel. A post office called Modoc was established in 1901, and remained in operation until 1906. A 2003 local newspaper report described it as "almost forgotten".

The Palos Covered Bridge, in Athens County, Ohio near Glouster, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It is a multiple kingpost truss covered bridge. It is a single-span bridge spanning the east fork of Sunday Creek about one mile north of Glouster off State Route 13, in Trimble Township, Athens County, Ohio. It served the W. P. Rice Mine, a coal mine which operated from 1913 to 1925.
