The UK Young Academy (UKYA) is a national interdisciplinary membership organisation that brings together UK-based early career researchers, professionals and innovators from a wide range of sectors, enabling them to collaborate to make a positive difference in the UK and globally. Its work programmes include member-led activities and initiatives that work to address the challenges the world is facing at a national and international level.

The statue of Lord Curzon is a Grade II listed statue that stands on Carlton House Terrace in London. The statue stands opposite Curzon's home at 1 Carlton House Terrace. Lord Curzon served as Viceroy of India and was considered to be autocratic in his rule, despite this he has been hailed for implementing a number of reforms, particularly for the better treatment of Indians. He was also known for his oratory skills, and resplendence in India, staging the Delhi Durbar. In 1923, Curzon aimed to become Prime Minister but it instead went to Stanley Baldwin. The statue was designed by Bertram Mackennal and unveiled in 1931 by Baldwin. It depicts Curzon wearing his Garter robes. It faces his London home, where he would host popular dinner parties and often work tirelessly into the late hours of the night.

The Royal Society, formally The Royal Society of London for Improving Natural Knowledge, is a learned society and the United Kingdom's national academy of sciences. The society fulfils a number of roles: promoting science and its benefits, recognising excellence in science, supporting outstanding science, providing scientific advice for policy, education and public engagement and fostering international and global co-operation. Founded on 28 November 1660, it was granted a royal charter by King Charles II as The Royal Society. The society is governed by its Council, which is chaired by the Society's President, according to a set of statutes and standing orders. The members of Council and the President are elected from and by its Fellows, the basic members of the society, who are themselves elected by existing Fellows. As of 2020, there are about 1,700 fellows, allowed to use the postnominal title FRS (Fellow of the Royal Society), with up to 52 new fellows appointed each year. There are also royal fellows, honorary fellows and foreign members, the last of which are allowed to use the postnominal title ForMemRS (Foreign Member of the Royal Society). The Royal Society President is Adrian Smith, who took up the post and started his 5 year term on 30 November 2020, replacing the previous president Venki Ramakrishnan. Since 1967, the society has been based at 6–9 Carlton House Terrace, a Grade I listed building in central London which was previously used by the Embassy of Germany, London.

The statue of Sir John Fox Burgoyne is a Grade II listed statue on the western flank of Waterloo Place. The street has a number of memorials and monuments. John Fox Burgoyne was a British Army Officer who served in the Peninsular and Crimean War, later becoming a Field Marshal in 1869. The statue is by Joseph Edgar Boehm and was unveiled in 1877. It bears the inscription, a quote from Shakespeare's Coriolanus "How youngly he began to serve his country, how long continued", reflecting Burgoyne's extensive career in the army, serving just shy of seven decades.

The statue of Sir John Franklin is a Grade II listed statue by the Athenaeum Club on Waterloo Place. John Franklin was a British Naval Officer and Arctic expleror. He fought in the battles of Copenhagen and Trafalgar. The monument names all the members of the failed Franklin's lost expedition, none of which would return. The expedition would be termed as Franklin's company as those who "forged the last link with their lives" of the Northwest Passage. Franklin and his expedition would be popular in folklore, being the inspiration for a number of poems. The statue would often serve as a site where a crowd would gather for a public telling of the story of Franklin's expedition. The statue was designed by Matthew Noble and completed in 1866. Franklin is depicted in naval uniform. As much of the detail surrounding Franklin's expedition is unknown, it is a belief held by some that Franklin did indeed discover the Northwest Passage, a statement which is inscribed on the plinth.

3 Carlton Gardens is a house in Carlton Gardens, cul-de-sac at the west end of Carlton House Terrace in London's St James's district SW1. The house was designed by Decimus Burton as part of a pair. It has been listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England since January 1970.The house is three storeys tall plus an attic storey; and four windows wide. A balustraded balcony is on the first floor. The house has a swimming pool and spa, and private formal gardens.In 1843, it was residence to the politician Frederick Hodgson, MP for Barnstable. In 1856 it was the home of the Conservative MP for Buteshire, James Stuart-Wortley. The house was the residence of the Conservative politician and army officer George Weld-Forester, 3rd Baron Forester in the 1870s; Weld-Forester died at the property in 1886.The house was used by the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to interview recruits after the Second World War.In 2012, the house was bought by the property developer Mike Spink for £65.5 million, who subsequently renovated the property. The property was listed at £125 million for several years until its 2019 sale to the American hedge fund manager Kenneth C. Griffin, the founder and CEO of Citadel LLC, for £95 million.The 2019 sale of 3 Carlton Gardens was the most expensive sale of a UK property since 2011.

The statue of Sir Keith Park is a statue by the Athenaeum Club on Waterloo Place. A three-year campaign to commemorate Keith Park originally aimed at erecting a statue of Park in Trafalgar Square resulted in the creation of a memorial. The statue was designed by Les Johnson and unveiled in 2010 on the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It depicts Park, a member of the RAF who defended England in the battle, wearing a life jacket and flying gloves. With Park himself a New Zealander, the statue stands not far from New Zealand House. A temporary version of the statue occupied the Fourth plinth in 2009.

The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) is a charitable organization in the United Kingdom whose stated aims are to challenge what it calls "extremely damaging and harmful policies" envisaged by governments to mitigate anthropogenic global warming. The GWPF, and some of its prominent members individually, have been characterized as practising and promoting climate change denial.In 2014, when the Charity Commission ruled that the GWPF had breached rules on impartiality, a non-charitable organisation called the "Global Warming Policy Forum" was created to do lobbying that a charity could not. The GWPF website carries an array of articles sceptical of the scientific consensus of anthropogenic global warming and its impacts.

The Reform Club is a private members' club on the south side of Pall Mall in central London, England. As with all of London's original gentlemen's clubs, it comprised an all-male membership for decades, but it was one of the first all-male clubs to change its rules to include the admission of women on equal terms in 1981. Since its founding in 1836, the Reform Club has been the traditional home for those committed to progressive political ideas, with its membership initially consisting of Radicals and Whigs. However, it is no longer associated with any particular political party, and it now serves a purely social function. The Reform Club currently enjoys extensive reciprocity with similar clubs around the world. It attracts a significant number of foreign members, such as diplomats accredited to the Court of St James's. Of the current membership of around 2,700, some 500 are "overseas members", and over 400 are women.

The Duke of York Column is a monument in London, England, to Prince Frederick, Duke of York, the second eldest son of King George III. The designer was Benjamin Dean Wyatt. It is sited where Regent Street meets The Mall, a purposefully wide endpoint of Regent Street known as Waterloo Place and Gardens, in between the two terraces of Carlton House Terrace and their tree-lined squares. The three very wide flights of steps down to The Mall adjoining are known as the Duke of York Steps. The column was completed in December 1832 and the statue of the Duke of York, by Sir Richard Westmacott, was raised on 10 April 1834.

The equestrian statue of Edward VII is a Grade II listed statue that sits just north of the Duke of York Column on Waterloo Place. The street has a number of memorials and monuments, and a statue of Robert Napier had previously stood on the site since 1891. The statue was commissioned in 1912 but delayed by the First World War to be eventually completed in 1921 by Australian sculptor Bertram Mackennal. It is in bronze upon a Portland stone pedestal, depicting Edward VII wearing Field Marshal's uniform. This choice was perhaps made to reflect Britain's participation and victory in the war despite it being after Edward VII's death. Originally there had been plans for a larger and more elaborate memorial, and arguments over where to site it. Green Park and St James Park were raised as possible candidate but both met with significant resistance. Eventually, on the advice of George V such plans would be replaced by the equestrian statue that ended up put up in Waterloo Place.

The Athenaeum is a private members' club in London, founded in 1824. It is primarily a club for men and women with intellectual interests, and particularly (but not exclusively) for those who have attained some distinction in science, engineering, literature or the arts. Humphry Davy and Michael Faraday were the first chairman and secretary and 51 Nobel Laureates have been members.The clubhouse is located at 107 Pall Mall at the corner of Waterloo Place. It was designed by Decimus Burton in the Neoclassical style, and built by the company of Decimus's father, James Burton, the pre-eminent London property developer. Decimus was described by architectural scholar Guy Williams as "the designer and prime member of the Athenaeum, one of London's grandest gentlemens' [sic] clubs".The clubhouse has a Doric portico, above which is a statue of the classical goddess of wisdom, Athena, from whom the club derives its name. The bas-relief frieze is a copy of the frieze of the Parthenon in Athens. The club's facilities include an extensive library, a dining room known as the coffee room, a Morning Room, a drawing room on the first floor, a restored smoking room (smoking is no longer permitted) on the upper floor, and a suite of bedrooms.
