Waddams Grove, Illinois

West Point Township is located in Stephenson County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,369 and it contained 1,483 housing units. The village of Lena, the unincorporated community of Waddams Grove, and two former communities of Louisa and West Point were all located in this township.

The Battle of Waddams Grove, also known as the Battle of Yellow Creek was part of the Black Hawk War. It took place in present-day Stephenson County, Illinois on June 18, 1832. After several incidents of Sauk Indian raids on settlers along the Apple River, Captain James W. Stephenson left Galena with a group of volunteer militia in pursuit of the Native party. The group clashed on June 18, 1832 near Yellow Creek and the ensuing battle descended into a bayonet and knife fight in which several Sauk and three militia men were killed. Stephenson was severely wounded by a musketball to the chest during the fighting. The dead were eventually interred in a memorial cemetery in Kellogg's Grove, Illinois where a stone monument was erected in memory of those killed during the war.

The Chris Jensen Round Barn was a historic round barn located at 11723 West Galena Road near Lena, Illinois. The barn was 60 feet (18 m) in diameter and featured a conical roof with a cupola. The barn's livestock stalls were arranged in parallel rows; this configuration was highly unusual among round barns, which typically featured wedge-shaped stalls arranged along the outer circle of the barn.The barn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 23, 1984. It has since been demolished, though it is still on the Register.

The Lena Water Tower is a water tower located in the village of Lena, Illinois, United States. It was built in 1896 following two decades of problems with structure fires in the village. The current water tower is the result of a second attempt after the first structure proved to be unstable. The tower stands 122.5 feet (37.3 m) tall and is built of limestone and red brick. The current stainless steel water tank holds 50,000 gallons (190,000 liters) and replaced the original wooden tank in 1984. The site has two other structures, an old power plant building and a 100,000 US gallon (380,000 L) reservoir. The Lena Electric Plant Building was constructed in 1905 and the reservoir completed in 1907. The Lena Water Tower was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1997; the reservoir was included as a contributing property to the listing.

Part of the Lena-Winslow Community Unit School District, Le-Win became the second largest school district in Stephenson County, when, in 1949, the State of Illinois mandated that larger school districts be created. Only the districts of Dakota and Freeport are larger.
