Grgeteg

The Grgeteg Monastery (Serbian: Манастир Гргетег, romanized: Manastir Grgeteg) is a Serb Orthodox monastery on the Fruška Gora mountain in the northern Serbia, in the province of Vojvodina. According to tradition, the monastery was founded by Zmaj Ognjeni Vuk (Despot Vuk Grgurević) in 1471. The earliest historical records about the monastery date back to 1545/1546. The monastery had been deserted before the 1690 Great Migration of the Serbs, but a renewal, undertaken by Bishop Isaija Đaković, took place in 1708. Around 1770, the extant baroque church was erected and it underwent restoration in 1898 under the guiding hand of Hermann Bollé. It was then that the residential buildings which enclose the church from all four sides were reconstructed. The first walled rocaille iconostasis in the church interior was painted and inlaid by Jakov Orfelin in 1774–1775. The extant iconostasis is a 1902 work of Uroš Predić. Grgeteg Monastery was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990, and it is protected by Republic of Serbia.

Neradin (Serbian Cyrillic: Нерадин) is a village in Serbia. It is situated in the Irig municipality, in the Srem District, Vojvodina province. The village has a Serb ethnic majority with a population of 551 people (2022 census).

The Velika Remeta Monastery (Serbian: Манастир Велика Ремета, romanized: Manastir Velika Remeta) is a Serbian Orthodox monastery located in the village of Velika Remeta on the mountain Fruška Gora in northern Serbia. It is one of several monasteries of Fruška Gora. Traditionally, its founding is linked to King Stefan Dragutin. The earliest historical records about the monastery date to 1562. It was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990, and it is protected by the Republic of Serbia.

Velika Remeta (Serbian Cyrillic: Велика Ремета) is a village in Serbia. It is situated in the Irig municipality, in the Srem District, Vojvodina province. The village has a Serb ethnic majority and its population numbering 42 people (2002 census). The Velika Remeta Monastery is located near the village.

The grave of Branko Radičević on Stražilovo is a famous place of great importance, dedicated to the famous Serbian poet Branko Radičević, on the hill of the same name on Fruška Gora, above Sremski Karlovci.

Stražilovo is a wooded valley in the Fruška Gora mountain, Serbia. It is situated on the northeastern slopes of the Fruška Gora National park, about 5 km from Sremski Karlovci, and about 15 km from Novi Sad. It is the place where the monument is erected to the famous Serbian poet Branko Radičević. On weekends and during holidays, it is packed with visitors from nearby cities. There is a mountaineers' hut in Stražilovo, as it is also the starting point of the "Fruška Gora transversale" hiking trail, which runs around the mountain for more than 160 kilometers. Near Stražilovo, there are several Orthodox monasteries which date mostly from the 16th century.

The Staro Hopovo Monastery (Serbian: Манастир Старо Хопово, romanized: Manastir Staro Hopovo) is a Serb Orthodox monastery on the Fruška Gora mountain in the northern Serbia, in the province of Vojvodina. According to tradition, the monastery was founded by Bishop Maksim (Despot Đorđe Branković). The first reliable mention of the monastery dates back to 1545/1546. It is on the basis of some data from 1751 that an earlier church with timber walls dedicated to St. Nicholas existed. The old church which had collapsed in an earthquake was in 1752 substituted with the extant single-nave building dedicated to St. Panteleimon. The woodcarving of the iconostasis of Staro Hopovo was completed in 1793, and the paintings by Janko Halkozović and Kuzman Kolarić. Staro Hopovo Monastery was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990, and it is protected by Republic of Serbia.

The Iriški Venac Tower (Serbian: Кула Иришки венац, romanized: Kula Iriški venac, lit. "Irish Wreath Tower"; pronounced [ǐriʃkiː ʋɛ̌ːnats]) is a 175-metre-tall TV tower built of concrete on Iriški Venac in Fruška Gora near Novi Sad, Serbia. It consists of a 120-metre-tall concrete structure with two baskets on which the 30-metre-long section with FM-antennas has been placed. On the pinnacle there is a 20-metre-long TV antenna.

Irig (Serbian Cyrillic: Ириг, pronounced [ǐriɡ]; Hungarian: Ürög) is a town and municipality located in the Srem District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. The town has a population of 4,415, while Irig municipality has 10,866 inhabitants.

The Battle of Karlóca (now Sremski Karlovci, in the South Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia) was the first battle in the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848-1849, fought on 12 June 1848 between the Hungarian Royal Army under the command of Lieutenant-General János Hrabovszky and Major Maximilian Eugen von Stein against the Serbian insurgents led by Lieutenant Đorđe Stratimirović. The Hungarians tried to suppress the movement by an attack against the main basis of the Serbians, Karlóca. After initial successes, the Hungarians, fearing of encirclement, retreated to Pétervárad. This action, instead of putting down the Serbian revolt, had the result of inciting it even more, causing its widening during the next months.
