Erwin, North Carolina

The Erwin Commercial Historic District encompasses a cluster of historic commercial buildings at the center of Erwin, North Carolina. It includes all of the buildings on the south side of East H Street between South 12th and 13th Streets, all on the east side of South 13th Street between East H and Denim Drive, and one building facing Denim Drive just east of South 13th. The buildings are mostly one and two-story brick structures, built early in the 20th century, with modest Italianate design elements. The Denim Drive property is a Modernist gas station built about 1962.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Duke Township is one of thirteen townships in Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The township had a population of 5,965 according to the 2000 census and is the largest township in Harnett County by population. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Geographically, Duke Township occupies 18.6 square miles (48 km2) in southeastern Harnett County. The only incorporated municipality within Duke Township is Erwin. The town of Erwin was also formerly known as Duke.

Triton High School is a traditional public high school which opened in October 1985, which currently houses 1,308 students in grades nine through twelve, and 126 instructional staff members. Triton is one of six high schools in the Harnett County School System.

WUAW (88.3 FM) is an educational radio station featuring genres including adult contemporary, alternative rock, top-40, and country music. Licensed to Erwin, North Carolina, it serves the Erwin, Dunn, Coats and Lillington areas. The station is currently owned by Central Carolina Community College as part of its Broadcast Production Technology program. Under the guidance of WUAW Chief Engineer, Dr. Jim Davis, WUAW now operates 24 hours a day. WUAW not only serves the citizens of Harnett and surrounding countries but is a training facility for future broadcasters. The station's transmitter and tower remain 64/100 of a mile east of U.S. Highway 421 or 215 Maynard Lake Road in Erwin, North Carolina.

Juniper Creek is a 5.05 mi (8.13 km) long 3rd order tributary to the Cape Fear River in Harnett County, North Carolina.

Turlington is an unincorporated community in eastern Harnett County, North Carolina, United States, situated between the towns of Coats and Erwin, North Carolina. It is a part of the Dunn Micropolitan Area, which is also a part of the greater Raleigh–Durham–Cary Combined Statistical Area (CSA) as defined by the United States Census Bureau. Other names for the community previously have included Slocumb Crossroads or Turlington Crossroads (Powell 1968, p. 503). An unsuccessful movement was undertaken in 1893 to have the Harnett County seat moved from Lillington to Turlington Crossroads (Hairr 2002, p. 86).

The Averasboro Battlefield and Museum is dedicated to the Battle of Averasborough, a Civil War battle fought on March 16, 1865. The museum, founded in 1994 by the Averasboro Battlefield Commission, Inc, is located on the battlefield in Dunn, North Carolina. The battlefield attained National Register Historic District status in May 2001. Also on the battlefield and considered to be part of the museum is the restored Chicora Civil Cemetery. The Civil War Trust (a division of the American Battlefield Trust) and its partners have acquired and preserved 520 acres (2.1 km2) of the battlefield.

Upper Little River is a 50.92 mi (81.95 km) long 5th order tributary to the Cape Fear River in Harnett County, North Carolina.

Kenneth L. Howard House, also known as the Women's Club of Dunn, is a historic home located near Dunn, Harnett County, North Carolina. It was built in 1908–1909, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, Colonial Revival style frame mansion. It has a high hipped roof crowned by a mock widow's walk and features a two-story free Ionic order portico and one-story wraparound porch. The house is a copy of the North Carolina Building at the Jamestown Exposition of 1907. In 1953 it was acquired as the headquarters of the Woman's Club.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Gen. William C. Lee House is a historic home located at Dunn, Harnett County, North Carolina. It was built about 1915, and is a two-story, three-bay, double pile, Classical Revival style brick veneer mansion with a hipped roof. It has one-story rear wings and features a full facade porch with monumental Tuscan order columns. It was the home of World War II General William C. Lee, whose wife acquired it in 1935. The house contains offices for the Dunn Area Chamber of Commerce and a museum memorial to the General.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Dunn is the most populous city of Harnett County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 9,263 at the 2010 census. It is, along with Harnett County, part of the Anderson Creek, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary, NC Combined Statistical Area.

Lebanon is a historic plantation house located near Dunn, Harnett County, North Carolina. It was built about 1824, and is a two-story, three-bay, Greek Revival style frame dwelling with a one-story wing. It is sheathed in weatherboard and rests on a brick foundation. The front facade features a three-bay, two-tier porch. During the American Civil War, the Battle of Averasboro (March 16, 1865) occurred in the immediate vicinity of plantation house and it was used as a hospital.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
