Cherryville, North Carolina

Cherryville Township is a township in northwestern Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 16,500. It includes the incorporated city of Cherryville, the inactive incorporated town of Dellview, the unincorporated community of Tryon, and a portion of the town of High Shoals (most of which is in Dallas Township). It is represented on the Gaston County Board of Commissioners by Allen Fraley of Cherryville.

Its population was 13 at the 2010 census but dropped to 6 as of the 2020 census.Dellview is located in the Muddy Fork watershed, a tributary of Buffalo Creek flowing to the Broad River in South Carolina. The town collects no taxes from its residents, almost all of whom are relatives. Dellview also doesn't request any state money. The town has no police department, nor a water or sewer system. Since it is inactive, the town has no elected officials or municipal elections, and is now governed by Gaston County. Dellview Road, the community's only paved road, forms the town's northern border. North of it lies the town of Cherryville.

Tryon is an unincorporated community in Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. It is in Cherryville Township, located approximately 4.7 miles (7.6 km) southeast of the city of Cherryville on North Carolina Highway 274. The rural Gaston County election precinct centered on Tryon had a voting-age population of 1524 in the 2000 Census.The Tryon community is near the former location of the courthouse of the colonial-era Tryon County. The courthouse was the site of the signing of the Revolutionary-era Tryon Resolves, a declaration of resistance to actions of the British Empire against its American Colonies drawn up after the Battle of Lexington.Tryon Elementary School, grades K-5, is located in the Tryon community. Its attendance district covers most of eastern unincorporated Cherryville Township. Most of these students feed into John Chavis Middle School and Cherryville High School in Cherryville, while those living in areas southeast of the community attend Bessemer City Middle and High Schools.Industry in the area includes the Bessemer City Quarry of Martin Marietta Aggregates, a supplier of crushed aggregates for the construction industry, located just east of the community. Fire protection is provided by the Tryonota Volunteer Fire Department.

Tryon County is a former county which was located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It was formed in 1768 from the part of Mecklenburg County west of the Catawba River, although the legislative act that created it did not become effective until April 10, 1769. Due to inaccurate and delayed surveying, Tryon County encompassed a large area of northwestern South Carolina. It was named for William Tryon, governor of the North Carolina Colony from 1765 to 1771. The county seat, finally designated in 1774, was located eight miles southwest of the present-day community of Lincolnton, in Lincoln County.

It has a one-story rear kitchen ell. The front facade features a two-story pedimented porch with an intervening second floor balcony.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Woodside, also known as the James Pinckney Henderson House, is a historic plantation house located near Lincolnton, Lincoln County, North Carolina. It was built about 1798, and is a two-story, four bay by three bay, Federal style brick dwelling with a Quaker plan interior. It has a gable roof, is set on a random granite foundation, and features three single-shouldered exterior end chimneys. It was built by Lawson Henderson and is believed to be the birthplace of his son Texas political leader James Pinckney Henderson (1808–1858).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
